Best RB Class in memory and all Nick came away with is a specialist (pass catcher) out of backfield despite incredibly thin, underwhelming RB room. Mixon is out. Pierce is out. Chubb looks done. Last year 6th rd. (practice squad in 2024) Jawhar Jordan is best in camp, followed by Woody Marks (cost 4th and next years 3rd). No way in hell I'm cutting Nick, Texans, and fellow TexansTalk.com membership, slack for not addressing backfield in such a rich RB draft class. Gentry/Hampton off the board, rest all were in play. Don't mind Woody Marks in 4th/5th rd. but after selecting a bell cow back in 2nd/3rd. TreVeyon Henderson was on the board when they selected Jayden Higgins. Both great prospects, but which need is greater? Nick talked to New England, but Patriots wouldn't budge, taking Henderson (some say Texans would have selected Ersery anyway, which they sure in the hell needed as well). Which drops RB into 3rd rd. prospects. Where Texans selected another WR, Jalen Noel (can't be too harsh with this pick as he was well worth it) but Kaleb Johnson was still on the board. Who is now going to be the Pittsburgh Steelers bell cow RB1. 4th rd. is where bulk of remaining good RB options including Woody and Cam Scattebo (who is looking like he will be their RB1 in camp).
In a normal RB class, Woody Marks in 4th rd. a good selection. Just given this class and Texans dire need to do a better job pounding the ball on the ground a huge missed opportunity. I pray for Mixon health to be a non-factor cause we really need him. Hope the young RB's can impact offense enough to not get CJ killed and from holding back playoff expectations. Then you better believe address the OL and backfield hard in 2026 draft in DC.
