2024 COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON info; players to watch

Texas Kelvin Banks being compared to Skoronski and Vera-Tucker and Matthew Bergeron
Only one I'm interested in.

The LSU tackle are ranked highly but I haven't focused yet on them. I am putting question mark by their name until I have seen more.

Really like Banks, but my guess….he’ll be gone by the time the Texans get to pick.

I am watching Ohio State's Denzel Burke cornerback closely this season. In 2023, he was targeted 19 times and allowed only three completions and he had an interception.
Playing in three of four games this season he already has two interceptions. The game he missed was because of targeting.

Hope this guy stays healthy so we can see what kind of season he could wind up with. He’s on amazing pace.

This was interesting and could justify some discussion. 2 days ago, Sports Illustrated projected Boise State RB, Ashton Jeanty would be the Texans pick in…..RD1. If Jeanty continues to roll up the yards, he could easily be a 2,000 plus yard back this season, and that would be his ground game. His total yards may be crazy as well. At 5-9 and 217 lbs, Jeanty is a pretty solid back and is a good cut and go RB that projects to fit well with the Texans offense.

Could the Texans justify taking the “projected” top RB in the draft with their RD1 pick? If the draft is truly deep at DT and S, could the Texans select a RB and still focus on DT and S later?

For me, the Texans need to get a young and healthy answer in the backfield next season. Mixon made it 1.25 games into the season and is on the shelf until further notice. Pierce had 1 solid carry in WK1 and that’s been about it. Not sold on him being the torch bearer at RB1 if Mixon goes down again in the season. I like Akers, but the OL has been atrocious since WK1 in the run game……which has put a big damper on any success some of us expect to see with him being RB1 at the moment. For this reason, getting a RB in the draft should be a priority, and if Jeanty is at the top of the position I’d be fine with Caserio and Ryans making the investment.

I think the Texans will draft a RB next year. Just not in the 1st round. I think RBs are important, but the NFL thinks they can be picked up in later rounds.
Yeah, Bijan Robinson and Jonathan Taylor type backs are pretty rare

About the only other back in this draft that I think could compete with Jeanty is Oklahoma State RB, Ollie Gordon. He’s a bigger back, but he doesn’t check all the boxes Jeanty does….even for his size. They’re saying that Jeanty could be in a position to break Barry Sanders CFB rushing record. What does offer some additional appeal, is his ability to block in the backfield and pick up blitzers….again, even for his size he has no fear of the defender coming through the line. This the type of back that could change the dynamics of the Texans run game for the next 5 seasons, if selected in RD1.

Gordon not doing so good this season. The old favorite of the MB Ohio State Henderson is increasing his draft value. Also the guy from Michigan.. Mulling has my attention with Omariyon (sp) North Carolina. Yardage is great but I focus on touchdowns.

Jeanty already has 13. If he just continued to do what he’s done in the first third of the season….. he might hit 2600+ yards plus 39+ TD’s.

I like Kyle Monongai out of Rutgers. I could see us using a day 2 pick on him.

Looks a bit like Ray Davis from this year's draft.

I liked a RB out of Rutgers a few years ago.

I like a couple of guys out of Rutgers, RB Isiah Pacheco and WR Bo Melton.

Why are they late rounders/UDFAs? They went to Rutgers, weren't 5 star players out of HS, and never put up eye popping numbers.

Why do they have late round value? Shown to have NFL athleticism, have played against top competition, and have played special teams.

These guys aren't show ponies that will balk when they're asked to do the dirty work. They have had a chip on their shoulder since forever. Had they played with players found at Ohio State, Clemson, and Georgia, their names might be known. It's hard to put up big numbers behind a line that can't open up holes or a QB that can't hit the broad side of a barn.

These guys played 4 years (in Melton's case 5), never transferred, and did whatever was asked of them. They have the physical ability and attitude to you're looking for when filling out the back end of a roster.

Not a fan of Gordon's.

Like Henderson , Judkins a lot.

RB- Jeanty tacked on another 217 rushing yards and a TD to his seasons total. 6 Games, 1,248 Yards, 9.9 Yards Per Carry, and 17 TD. He also has a receiving TD. He has another 6 games ahead of him this season. Sure wouldn’t mind having a Jeanty developing with Mixon next season.

At this point, Jeanty is going to be a RD1 commitment. I could only hope he slips far enough to be there in the back of the draft.

I saw one site where they had the Cowboys drafting him in mid RD1…..Cowboys need so much more at this juncture to think they’re a RB away from competing in the NFCE.

I’m watching ILB, Danny Stutsman (Oklahoma) really close. He’s NFL ready to go (6’-4” @ 241 lbs) ILB with speed and athleticism to boot. He’s been productive and healthy during his CFB career, which could be a big plus for the Texans LB’ing (MASH Unit) group.

I’m watching the following players, but I’d certainly like to see these prospects fall to the Texans:

RD1- RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise State) 5-8 @ 217 lbs
RD2- ILB Danny Stutsman (Oklahoma) 6-4 @ 240 lbs
RD3- OT Trey Zuhn III (Texas A&M) 6-7 @ 315 lbs
RD4- SS Kendal Daniels (Oklahoma State) 6-4 @ 213 lbs
RD5- CB Zy Alexander (LSU) 6-2 @ 194 lbs **Can hope he’s still on the board this late / Could be worth a trade up to RD4 id he’s still on the board**

Haven’t heard of your round 3-5 guys, so I’ll have to look them up.

I would LOVE Jeanty. He’s performing so well I don’t know if he’ll make it out of the top 10. I also really like Stutsman.

Is Jeanty another Blake Corum? 3rd round to LAR and rb3.

Draft Wyatt Milum and play at LG until Tunsil leaves. Potentially, I think he could be better at left tackle than Fisher and you know I love Blake Fisher.

I love this idea! I think Milum is underrated at the moment, but his stock could go up if he plays in any of the all star games.

When would you draft him?

Scheme diverse Jordan Hancock look good today versus Nebraska with five tackles, a force fumble, and an interception. The Ohio State cornerback had a great 2023 and I mock him to the Texans. He excels in the slot but also is very good outside depending on where Ryan's wants Lassiter.

That is my evaluation but I don't see him on any second day mock draft. Appears good for ZBS pass blocking but not run blocking; better for straight power scheme but last year played off balance and susceptible to stunts. Sound familiar?

If we had a strong solid offensive line I could see him as a project but depending on how he ends this year, I'm not interested in him.

What do you think of Wyatt Milum and moving him to LG?
