Jarrett Patterson played 3 years at Center and his last year at guard. I am curious as to why you think guard is his natural position? I also agree that he can play guard when juice scrubs returns.

Patterson just finished cutting his teeth against the Jags and Steelers defensive fronts. With upcoming schedule….Patterson could make a pretty big jump in his results.

The chemistry has been very good even though the OL hasn’t had their best players on the field.

Scruggs has played OG and he’s athletic enough to excel at the position. I think the best move is parking him between Tunsil and Patterson. Tunsil needs all the help he can get in the run game.
 
I'm going to edit my original estimation, which was CJ will be good in 3 years. He is already good after 4 games and, although it's early, I already consider him a top 15 QB. By year 3 I think he will be great or elite if he is able to remain in the same offensive system - which is a big concern because I fear that Bobby Slowick will be a popular HC candidate.
CJ's floor is good - his ceiling is elite+.

It's a good problem to have. For me, the deciding factor might be the ability to anchor. Whichever player can anchor at the center position the best, that's the one I want there.

It will be interesting to see how Tunsil does with an above avg run blocker next to him.

Patterson has been really good after being thrown into the fire as a rookie. People want to change what is working when Scruggs hasn't played a down in the NFL and who knows what kind of shape he will be in after missing the last part of camp and at least the first 5 games of the season. There's bound to be rust and posters wanna stick him in the most important communication position on the ol? SMH

to be clear, I want to do whatever Strausser and Bobby want to do, they have earned my respect. I am just happy we seem to have more than warm bodies this week

We have Atlanta then the Saints, and then the Bye. I would give Scruggs only limited action, if any at all, until after the Bye. So with Green2's injury, who's left to play LG. Broeker, I guess, is the next man up. Or Morrissey?

As for the Oline and the ? of where Scruggs goes when he comes back; I believe next to intelligence the biggest thing for a C is the ability to anchor. With Scruggs they had reported that his lateral movement wasnt the best but his ability to grab his defender and anchor was elite. That there was no bullrushing him and he would stonewall pressure up the front.

Patterson has played surprisingly well at C, but Scruggs had him beat at C during training camp and I have no reason to believe that when Juice comes back that that will not be the case again. Neither lack in intelligence.

IMHO Scruggs has the better ability to anchor and Patterson has the better lateral movement. Those are my reasons for wanting Juice at C and Patterson at LG.

It's not all that surprising to find guys in the low rounds for the ZBS.

Under Kubiak the Texans had Chris Myers in the 6th (he was a 6th rdr from the Broncos that the Texans traded a 6th for), Derek Newton (7th) and Mike Brisiel (UDFA).

Way things are going there probably won't be any "choice" about him. They're going to play the five healthy guys... period.

Way back when, before we knew CJ was going to be what he is, I don't think I criticized his potential talent. It was his agent that worried me. That and I just didn't want them to take a QB this year. I wasn't as afraid of getting CJ as I was in getting the midget. And apparently I was right about that at least.

But this is why I'm a retired server jock and not an NFL executive. It is apparent that if my IT skills were as bad as my NFL skills, the internet would be down right now.

Cons: doesn’t handle pressure well. Has an inability to hit open receivers when it’s not his 1st or 2nd read. Doesn’t see backside safeties sometimes which will result in turnovers in the nfl.

Pros: very accurate. has a cannon. can pick up easy yards on scrambles. A natural winner and football player. Future roty and hofer

Trusting the coaching staff will develop him into a star. Bryce went #1 because he’s great under pressue. Just hope cj shines in that area this season.

Thank you thank you, means a lot man. I was laughed at and clowned for my predictions. I remember it like yesterday. Later that night after the draft, I fell asleep and suddenly I had a dream… that Cj would throw for 4,912 yards along with 34 tds and 9 ints his rookie season. I had a dream that one day Davis Mills would forever be a backup and wouldn’t make our fan base disappointed anymore. I had a dream that Cj would rejuvenate our free agent receiving core after failures on their previous teams haha right or wrong we should be happy we’re back to winning football and watching the early stages of a dynasty
