Nevermind.
(Maybe the best album ever recorded).
Herbert was a very good prospect that was drafted no. 6
If he was deemed a generational talent, he wouldn't last that long.
Same with Josh Allen who I also liked.
Same with Mahomes, etc.
I remember. I argued the other way, a bird in the hand...I was also on the record of wanting to trade Watson and Hopkins…..
Yep,How does that make Cj Stroud any better?
He did the same thing another suckass QB did.... wheeeeeee!!!
Exactly, they weren't going to win a championship with the Clemson trash as the leaders of the team, so sell high and build a true championship contender. Unfortunately the marketing division that is the Houston Texans didn't look at things like we do and are currently paying the price for their myopic views. That's supposing that they really care about bringing a championship to Kirby.I was also on the record of wanting to trade Watson and Hopkins…..and start over with Herbert, who I thought all along was a better fit for the offense OB wanted to run.
This recommendation or thought came before Watson shite the bed with the organization and Hopkins was still at the top of his game. Absolutely nothing wrong with cashing in your assets at the tail end of their current deals in order to take a route for much less money. As a team, you’ve got up to 4 years to determine if you made the right choice. Better to cut your loses than elevate those loses. If that’s the case…..GM and HC should be the ones exiting with the trades.
Give the next GM and staff the draft assets to start new.

Watched the replay this morning. Stroud was not the best, but early on and I think has the traits to be really good in this league...if his OL holds up. Defense was very good and I think can be one of the best in the conference no doubt. Overall, more positives than negatives imo and looking forward to the next one.
Good day for both. My concern for Stroud after Thursday's limited action is the estimated time of 3 seconds he's holding onto the ball. This is not good and something he will have to address. Saturday's preseason game #2 will see more playing time for both qbs.
Not sure Hannah and Cal are responsible but for now I choose to give them credit forThis ain’t the same McNairs as two decades ago.
Are Cal and Hannah>Bob and Janice?
We will find out.
Constant shifting of centers and QBs whomever calling plays could lead to mistakes and that can be better when regular season initiates.I haven't looked at Deiter at C, but Scruggs was definitely pointing at players and seemed to be making calls. But regardless, it was rookie/rookie. With Mills and Deiter you have two veterans. You'd expect better calls.
Not sure Hannah and Cal are responsible but for now I choose to give them credit for
1. Not firing Nick
2. Hiring Ryans
3. Supporting the drafting of Stroud no matter who wanted him
4. Supporting the trade up for WA
Moves that have already pleased fans and increased monies.
Bob and Janice should be well pleased.
I was surprised also and commented perhaps Stroud would be back after halftime and then i guessed 4th Q.was wondering how many attempts CJ would get....was disappointed when they pulled him...seems 2 of the other 3 rookie qb's in his draft class got more reps...one does have to note that levis didnt start and thus didnt play against the starters...also young got hit 3-4 times...cant recall the exact number...with that frame one would have to be worried about how many hits he can take
Exactly.Constant shifting of centers and QBs whomever calling plays could lead to mistakes and that can be better when regular season initiates.
Think this class will go down as the system class of QB’s. Those who fit perfectly for the OC’s system. Different skill set.All of the guys you listed had traits that no QB in the last draft have.
There are 3 QB's with those traits in the 2024 draft. IMHO 4 if you can get past Penix injury history.
Pleasing fans is all that matters. Not sure Hannah and Cal are responsible but for now I choose to give them credit for

Depends on what you think of Stroud. They will win more games and some will get what they want, to be entertained. That's what's most important to the McNair's.#5 -Put the team in a position to win for a long time.
We will have to see if it leads to a Super Bowl.
And not even close to being as good as the Burrow, Herbert class. The only QB in that class that has a chance to be as good as the Herbert class is Richardson.Think this class will go down as the system class of QB’s. Those who fit perfectly for the OC’s system. Different skill set.
Burrows has gotten close, but he seems brittle. Chargers have invested everything in Herbert, contract, offensive line, and WR, will see, I remain hopeful but honestly feel Slowick system is better than Kellen Moore’s.And not even close to being as good as the Burrow, Herbert class. It amazes me the mental gymnastics that go on about the draft. People believe a coach and GM are going to come out and say "We wanted to bring in competition for 2023, and if needed draft a QB next year, but the owner stepped in and made us draft a QB and give up multiple draft picks to draft the person we really wanted."Then enters Hannah. Let's just stop this. I really don't care if anyone believes what they want to believe. Everyone is free to believe what they want to believe.............and I accept it.
Burrow tore his ACL as a rookie and made a SB behind a terrible ol. He got the crap beat out of himself. I would hardly call that brittle.Burrows has gotten close, but he seems brittle. Imagine if Crane had that attitude when Luhnow was rebuilding the Stros. If he would have gone along with the let's be entertained before the rebuild was finished Crane wouldn't have the current dynasty they have treated this city too.
It's two totally different mindsets of ownerships. One was solely focused on building a team that could win championships. The other does things to keep the fans happy.

We can only hope Slowik can devise a system to help Stroud play to his strengths, because he doesn't have Burrow, Herbert physical traits or ability. I guess there's about a 20-30 % chance that you can work around dumb and that's being optimistic.
They are just two different visions of how to build a franchise and what's important to each owner, one owner was willing to take the heat from the fan base to build a dynasty, the other isn't and really only cares about their next billionYou say these things like they must be mutually exclusive.
I think Scruggs is going to be the real deal.
Out of curiosity. When in NFL history has a team decided trade their young QB and WR duo who are considered at least top 10 talents at their positions by many GMs, HCs and media? We make this trade proposal like it's something that's done routinely by NFL teams and the Texans failed to make the trade. So, when has it happened?I was also on the record of wanting to trade Watson and Hopkins…..and start over with Herbert, who I thought all along was a better fit for the offense OB wanted to run.

Exactly what did the marketing division fail to do that any other competent NFL team would have done with the Clemson trash? Can you give an example of a team that did exactly what you are proposing and built a championship contender? You don't have to provide any links.Exactly, they weren't going to win a championship with the Clemson trash as the leaders of the team, so sell high and build a true championship contender. Unfortunately the marketing division that is the Houston Texans didn't look at things like we do and are currently paying the price for their myopic views. Top 10 QB's get traded StaffordOut of curiosity. That's not my question. You have a team with a top 10 QB and WR. Name a team that traded BOTH players. Not just a QB or a WR. Both players.Top 10 QB's get traded Stafford
Top 10 WR's get traded Diggs and OBJ.
It happens, I just hope they've learned from their mistakes and stop drafting Clemson trash, you can add South Carolina to this list too. Doubtful they learned a damned thing.
Plus those teams that traded their top talent didn’t even make it to the SB. The other team benefited more. That's not my question. You have a team with a top 10 QB and WR. Name a team that traded BOTH players in their prime.
The Raiders and the Oilers trade Stabler and Casper. That's not my question. You have a team with a top 10 QB and WR. Name a team that traded BOTH players. Not just a QB or a WR. Both players.
Wait. You have to go back to 1980 to find a team doing what you wanted the Texans to do? Again, at that point. Was Stabler even consider a top 10 QB or old and washed up? With the Oilers he threw 27 TDs and 46 INTs and any time he felt the pass rush, he would go fetal so fast, he made Brady look courageous standing up to pressure up the middle. The Oilers did not get a top 10 QB.The Raiders and the Oilers trade Stabler and Casper.
Yes I know that Casper was a TE.
BTW, what's wrong with taking out the trash, even if it means doing things differently. You know differently like Crane and Luhnow did?
Since you were never going to win a championship with the trash, the smart move would have been to move on. But when is the last time the Texans org ever did anything smart or out of the margins?
Exactly. Trading Hopkins to start building a Super Bowl roster with David Johnson? How does that benefit the Texans? You can't even write that sentence without laughing.Plus those teams that traded their top talent didn’t even make it to the SB. The other team benefited more.
Maybe I expect the teams I root for to be cutting edge like Luhnow. I may be expecting too much but I want the Texans to be run like Luhnow ran the Stros, win at all costs and take no prisoners attitude. I know that's an impossibility with a McNair owned franchise.Wait. You have to go back to 1980 to find a team doing what you wanted the Texans to do? Again, at that point. BTW. Nothing is wrong with taking out the trash. Since it's such a smart move, surely many NFL teams get rid of their top 10 offensive talents. I'm just trying to understand why you think the marketing division refused to do something that is supposedly being done on a regular basis.

Okay. Fine. Ignore the top 10 criteria. In a league of 30 teams, what does top 10 even mean?
You look at conference championship appearances and it's a select group of 4-5 routinely making appearances.
That’s not optimistic it’s prejudiced. Frankly I’m sick and tired of it. Do what you do, dump your great seats on the precipice of a miraculous franchise turnaround.Burrow tore his ACL as a rookie and made a SB behind a terrible ol. He got the crap beat out of himself. Interesting guy. Looks like the last guy you would ever think is an NFL player. Even looked like he had Goth eye makeup on against NE. But I’m really pulling for him. Makes me somehow feel better about myself, lol.
Really, thLions are much better off without Stafford than with him. I mean they're picked by many to win their division for the first time in decades.Plus those teams that traded their top talent didn’t even make it to the SB. The other team benefited more.
Prejudice isn't what I expected you to call me. Was I prejudice when I wanted RS to pick Winston? Prejudiced when I wanted Mahomes to be the pick? How about in the last draft when I wanted Caserio to pick one of Young, Hooker or Bennett. Let's be honest here, what do you think a guy who looks up to a sexual predator/dog fighter/scum agent and all of the people in his group being a QB to bring a Lombardi to Kirby? I'm not even taking into account his on field issues that he will have to overcome just to become a mid tear QB, which is what I hope he eventually becomes. But I'm also willing to give him a chance and not condemn him after 2 series in his first NFL game. I'm willing to at least give the guy a chance despite everything that I wrote at the beginning of this post. But I won't be an I told you so guy if he doesn't work out. It's not his fault Hannah made Caserio pick him that high in the draft. On the bright side, whether he sucks or not he now has generational wealth. That’s not optimistic it’s prejudiced. Frankly I’m sick and tired of it. Do what you do, dump your great seats on the precipice of a miraculous franchise turnaround.
I know you hate Stroud. No everybody knows. Tried last year to show you why, changing your mind was a possibility but your hate for Watson and mutual agent (he who shall not be named). ******* lovely
so you traded your Texans season tickets for Astros?
Me, I wanted a legitimate new HC and let him and the new GM decide who they want.I was also on the record of wanting to trade Watson and Hopkins…..and start over with Herbert, who I thought all along was a better fit for the offense OB wanted to run.
