You’ve also never been exactly in his corner. Calling him average, middling, outside top 15 looking in. Well to be fair -
  1. Mahomes
  2. Burrough
  3. Allen
  4. Hurts
  5. Jackson
  6. Herbert
  7. Lawrence
  8. Rodgers
  9. Prescott
  10. Fields
  11. Cousins
  12. Geno Smith
  13. Goff
  14. Tua
  15. Carr
So what's our objective? Are we going to keep on him until he agrees Stroud is going to be a top 5 QB? Most of us don't believe that. We hope, but we're Texans, so we know.

And does he have to kill ever thread with the same complaints? Or attempt to force him negative opinion on everyone all because he doesn’t like the young man.

Now back to the topic. He has the potential to be successful in the NFL. And he can unsuccessful as well. Time will tell. Hopefully it will be successful right out the gates. But there’s a strong possibility he won’t. So many variables, especially with a new OC, HC and a bunch of youngsters like himself

Watch from ~1 minute mark for a different view of the Javon Bullard hit on Marvin Harrison Jr.
Watching that replay. I'm still not sure if Stroud was trying to throw the ball away and because he was throwing off balance, he didn't get enough on the ball.

I thought the Watson INT against the Steelers that was basically a punt was over analyzed. I can just imagine when Stroud throws an INT in an NFL game. The forum will pull the Osweiler's
"every INT has a story" quote.

For anyone interested. Here a good example of what a cognition test like the S2 is like.................take the practice test
I'm going to score 100% on these just about every time. Because I'm good at these and because I've taken similar tests dozens if not hundreds of times before. I would suck as Texans QB though... Probably would get killed on the first play and then retire.

What you’re making up crap. Sounds like you’re the one on this bull crap. I don’t ever pull that tearing a player down crap all because i don’t like them. And I don’t ever repeat my negativity of a player on every freaking thread.

Could you please refrain from forcing your opinion on JB?

He never said you tear down players. He never said you repeat negativity.

Steelb doesn't try to force his opinion on anyone any more than you do

No, but you call other players liars and demean them if the opinion they express doesn't jive with yours. Just like you treat steelb because you don't agree with him. He doesn't attack anyone, but you sure do

This was essentially Davis Mills in 2022...possible but not encouraging for CJ Stroud if happens this way

Yikes! And Mills even had slightly better performance his rookie season. With better supporting cast around him, Stroud should statistically shine.

Admit to being old school, these new analytic models do projecting that would be subjectively impossible for me to do, but here is one (not my opinion) -
Rd1.No.2. CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State: The Texans truly are a good quarterback away from being a competitive team and Stroud ultimately holds the keys to success. Projection: 16 games played, 15 starts, 299 completions, 475 attempts, 2,988 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, 14 interceptions (140 rushing yards). Impact Factor: 8.6
What happened to the other game ? Did he not play game one or was he injured in a game?

Don't know what to make of Jarrod Johnson as Mills third qb coach in 3 years. Johnson had a solid college career at A&M. One stat stands out, he has a Big 12 record for throwing 242 consecutive passes without an interception. But he never managed to make an NFL roster, other than practice squad. As a coach, he's had only 3 years, one as assistant qb coach. He's also had two years in a coaching fellowship role, whatever that is.

I am not going to take it as I feel bad enough about myself as it is.

I'm in my 70s and not all my hair is grey yet. To keep it that way, I don't get into long winded BS debates with the more "passionate" posters here. It upsets my karma. :)
Soon: all your (Marijuana) leaves will be gone and the hair will grey. California dreaming on a hot humid Texas day.

He’s attacking that players character. Now I’m done y’all two can have it
Why does that hurt you? Players are fair game, members are not. Haven't you read the rules?

No personal attacks , insults , name calling - Attack the post , not the poster , just keep it civil. Agree to disagree and walk away or use the ignore feature.
This is a family friendly forum - No profanity / foul language. If you wouldn't say it in front of your mother , don't say it here.
Use the report feature for those who break the rules.
Public personae are fair game for insults and derision

QB position is hardest of all to project accurately because of different skill sets that can be tailored towards strengths. Each team has different personnel & coaching approaches.

I’ve worked hard to earn perspective and respect from other teams QB rooms/coaching trees, how they scheme and protect along with weapons that best complement, they collect each off season.

Of the big four QB’s in the 2023 draft class all found their rightful spots, in my opinion. No need to knock any of them until we see how there’re developed, especially our own QB. Also have no issue if Mills begins the season starting long as that translates to wins. Wins will translate into a ripple affect and hopefully Championship atmosphere. That is all we should be concerned about just keep steady measured improvement week after week so by end of season we have something really exciting to experience.

Think Blake Bortles who had 5 OCs in 5 years.

The rule is we're not supposed to attack each other personally. IF she's a member here, we are not allowed to attack her.
So assuming she is not a member, she is fair game to insult and deride. Got it.

Has she been insulted or derided?
Yes, the post was taken down. I assumed by a mod, because it ridiculously crossed the line, but based on the above response I doubt that happened. Will have to consider the poster had a change of heart.

Hey brother I’m done with it and done with them. They don’t have to worry about me engaging in FOOTBALL talk with them. This suppose to be about the players and their play on the field. Not no darn personal attack on them all because they don’t like who they have been around off the field on occasions. Now if it’s actually warranted, by all means rip away . Watson deserved the heat. Stroud as of right now! Doesn’t period.

I said at the time that Texans fans would miss Tim Kelly and that Mills would be a better QB under Kelly than he would be under Hamilton. That's pretty much how it happened.
Rightyo. I was just echoing what others were saying back then about Tim Kelly being one of the main reasons mills was playing poorly and that he’d drastically improve under pep Hamilton……..I personally thought he be mediocre no matter who the OC was

I don’t remember Mills playing poorly when Kelly was his OC.

Playcalling was stale, but Mills looked good & most attributed that to Pep.

Stroud chose to be a professional athlete and public figure. I could care less what is said about him. I try to keep the information about his actual football accomplishments and failures as factual as possible, but I try to and can be better about staying out of the "thug lyfe" comments by a small crowd around here.

What I do take issue with is posters making tasteless comments about his mother based on her personal life which has nothing to do with Stroud playing football.

But apparently the mods say anyone is fair game to saying anything about, as long as they are not a member of this MB. Which is the reason I needed to leave this place a few years ago. Because they hide behind rules and refuse to expect people to act as decent human beings, while still being passionate and opinionated about football.

I attribute most of his backward slide to Lovie. His conservatism and harping about turnovers had Mills thinking too much
IMO, there was a marked difference in Mills who just played, and Mills who overthought everything. We usually saw the former when games were out of hand though. We saw the latter a lot at the start of games as he was trying to be perfect/scripted instead of finding his rhythm.

74, I like a lot of your opinions in general, but it sounds like you may be having a bad day.

Relax brother, it's Friday.

You called out @steelbtexan and in return @JB called you out. It's fair play there.

If you feel that strongly about it and you both can't get eye to eye, maybe you should iggy @steelbtexan ? It would literally take less then 4 seconds and it sounds like you would enjoy your time on the mb more.

I'm sure he (sb) wouldn't mind either way.

Which leads me to my next thought. I wonder how many people are ignoring @steelbtexan? We should start a pool.

The last game of the year showed that when Lovie took his reins off

IMO, Lovie tried too hard to not let Mills lose games for him. And in doing so caused Mills to lose game for him.

As much as I didn't like the outcome, I did like watching him play in that last game. It's one of the reasons, with right scheme/fit being the other, that I think he will be a very capable backup to Stroud.

In true Texans fashion, I expect Mills to be really good in preseason and cj to look like a rookie. Controversy will stir and on the rare occasions nfl media talk about our team, they'll second guess why we picked a qb#2 overall. They'll say they knew it all along and so will half the posters here.

Or so my fortune cookie says...

I’m having a darn good day. Just finished smoking up this rig location with the best ribs in Texas.

And I’m going to always come to the defense of these youngsters when they’re being scrutinized and belittled wrongfully. Stroud hasn’t done anything wrong to anyone on this forum period.
