2023 TEXANS DRAFT DISCUSSION

I've never written anything negative about Caserio.

For those of you who think those of us are ungrateful jerks because we're not jumping up and down like you are, I, and I'm sure most others are satisfied with the players picked tonight, we're just stating the Texans paid a hefty price for moving up. That's it. I don't care if you're ecstatic, and I'm certainly not trying to dump on you because you're happy. Be happy, that's great. Just don't expect all of us to feel like you do.
I agree it is an overpay. I think they should have been able to get the pick minus either this year's 2nd or next year's 3rd, but we also don't know if/what the Seahawks were being offered by other teams. I was thinking I would have rather had Levis somewhere between 6-10, but after the Titans passed him up I am reconsidering that.

I think Mingo will end up going in the 2nd. Perfect fit in this offense. Very similar to Deebo coming out.
If we can get him and a good center to go along with Stroud and Anderson then this draft is a complete success regardless of how many picks were used. Add-in last year's rookies, the team's core would have a young nucleus with premium talent. The coaching staff should be stoked!

Why do you subscribe to what some 30 year old excel spreadsheet formula says? I f'ing hate the draft point trade chart. It doesn't account for strengths in a position one draft has over another etc.

It's archaic at best.

Yeah, but at least it isn't the S2...

Kancey seems like he'll be legit. Seems like he's got this versatility/motor thing that's completely necessary for success in the NFL.

To each his own

Saints only team left that might take Levis. Of course someone might move up into 1st. That 5th year option on a 1st round QB is a big deal. I expect a trade up honestly. Maybe Falcons, Washington, or TB? I’ll be shocked if one of those 4 doesn’t bite on him in the first.

I got woke up b/c daughter called at 0400. She had a little no damage rolling bump of the car in front of her. I assumed she was probably distracted by her cell phone…..she was upset with me when I voiced that thought. She and her baby are fine and called me from home.

So, I decided to look at the draft results before doing a Power Nap to 0630…..you know, that shite, shower, shave thing in 5 minutes.

Someone on the board nailed the scenario that actually played out. Great job in the world of fortune telling!!!!

As for 1-002: CJ Stroud / I really hope Caserio and Ryans know what they’re doing. Is Stroud the QB who finally breaks the Ohio State NFL QB curse? I hope Caserio and Ryans make him compete for the QB1 job and not just announce this guy the starter…..he doesn’t come off as “well grounded”. Anyhow, he’s a Texan now so I’ll be rooting for his success.

RD1-003: DE/LB- Will Anderson Jr / I like the player…..but what in the duck did the team give up to get him? Their 12, 33, 2024 RD1 & RD3. Man, talking about sliding the ol’ balls onto the chopping block. Anderson would have to be the runaway winner of DROY and be in the running for Defensive MVP for this trade to make sense.

Help for both of these guys won’t come again until RD3. I hope Caserio doesn’t use both RD3 picks (maybe more) to get back into RD2.

Min or NO for Levis or he is 2nd round. I wonder who told Herv earlier that this douche rocket was going late first or 2nd round. That guy is brilliant whoever it was.

I think someone has to trade up for him. Else, he was totally overrated this whole time.

The first next year is a loss, but guys…the Texans have a projected 120 million in cap space in 24. Player acquisition isn’t just the draft. Nick and Meco can play with the big boys in FA next year and haul in a big fish or two. This was fair value for a tone setting guy on D that will be a true leader and potential franchise QB to boot. For a change, the Texans got out of the kiddie pool and just went to the high dive and did a triple reverse forward somersault into the deep end.

Let’s freaking celebrate!

It’d be interesting if the Rams traded up into the 1st for Levi’s. The OC that Levi’s had in ‘21 went back to the Rams. He could learn behind Stafford.

I think Schmitz would cost a lot as did Anderson which might be exactly what Nick decides but Wypler is only 1 point behind and 1/10 point behind Avila at center position per https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/positions/OL/1/2023

Tippman is 6'6" and that can be okay as we saw in free agency but I hope Caserio holds firm and risks a OC and WR can be had without using the fours and get us solid guys that round also.
Yeah I think I would rather go offense in the 3rd and 4th. I think Demeco's coaching along with Anderson and free agency can improve the defense this year. I would like to see C, WR, TE.

I don’t think they gave up too much, but then I again I probably devalue the next years picks more than most. Too much can happen in 12 months to have any sense of the value of the ‘24 draft picks. Don’t forget this time last year, Spencer Rattler was a the presumptive #1 pick
