When Haslam was asked if he knew Hardin, he essentially said he only knew of him. When in fact, Hardin defended Haslam's #1 man, president of Pilot Flying J, Mark Hazelwood, who he got off on a technicality (and prosecutors did not want to retry) ...........17 of the top people in Flying Pilot J all plead guilty.............Jimmy Haslam (who was the driving force behind the massive fraud) and his brother Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, reached a $70 million settlement with nearly 6,000 defrauded customers to avoid prosecution. The Pilot Flying J/Haslam saga is a look into the money and power corruption aspect of the justice system............apparently the same thing that is trying to repeat itself in the Watson saga.

I'm surprised that Florio caught the Haslam/Pilot Flying J saga (summarized by my above post), also pointing out that Haslam very curious skated criminal and NFL punishment.:

Interesting to note that in 1999, the present Browns stadium cost $283.

Would Cleveland be the first city to have 2 different (but same?) football teams leave it?

Makes me think that Houston will need to build a new place in about 10 years or so. If not sooner. Sounds like we're safe through 2026 with the World Cup coming here, but after that the Texans will start chirping about how it's old and run down.

Sooner

my only hope is they get away from the south loop. Fuel expansion in Atascosita, Channelview, Katy,

hopefully on the Northside, but anywhere off Kirby.

I'm 100% sure it'll be in the same place. Plenty of parking lots to start building a new place on while the county officials still try to figure out how to make money off the Astrodome and the NRG

The Cleveland metro area's population is ~2 million..........compare that to the Houston metro area's population of ~7 million. It's time that Cleveland tells Haslam to go suck eggs..............and Watson, instead of donating money to the Browns kitchen staff, have him donate his salary towards a new stadium............

When Clowney was drafted, he was heralded "an athletic freak"...........now the Browns have TWO "athletic freaks"...............Haslam's and the Browns' and the Browns fans' and the Browns media's reaction...........

'An athletic freak': Cleveland Browns' Wyatt Teller raves over Deshaun Watson's skills
Marla Ridenour
Akron Beacon Journal 6/20/22

CLEVELAND — Wyatt Teller didn’t pause when asked his first impressions of quarterback Deshaun Watson.
“He’s an athletic freak,” the Browns' right guard said Thursday.

Welcome to the Browns news page! Just because DW was traded why follow this crap? I thought this was all about the women?

The Texans have two extra first round draft picks in the next two drafts that are directly related to the Browns 2022 and 2023 season results.

There is a direct correlation to the Browns results and potential implications for the Texans draft plans. That alone is reason to follow the Browns.

You really could justify putting in the Texans section. It definitely belongs in at least the NFL section. Regardless of what some. Derrick fans say and how bad they want this to all go away. I guess I would probably feel that way to if I was an early fanboy that has to be really disappointed. Funny thing is this is going to just the beginning, worse news seems to be coming out daily/weekly and frankly I'm enjoying the dirty laundry coming out for all to see.

Probably only got another 30-40 to go in addition to the 66.

NFL needs to drop the hammer now based on these cases that have been settled as these cases are done.

Then we'll see what happens with these last few cases and there could be a second round of punishments.

If I were the NFL i’d sit him on the commissioner exempt list this season. The Browns and Mulughetta made his salary 1 million this season anticipating a suspension. Sure he’ll collect that 1 million (for now… pending future lawsuits) but then when more info comes out there will be plenty of information to suspend him and keep him from getting the mega deal money he signed. That would be a much greater hit to his pocket book.

Can’t he re-work the following year’s pay as well? Just like he did for this year?

I'm guessing the NFL has made a deal behind the scenes with Watson that if he settles a majority of the cases against him, they'll go light on him. I'll set the over/under at 10 games.

Mary Kay continuing to carry Watson's water..........pointing to Watson's willingness to undergo counseling should be a mitigating circumstance for the League's decision for punishment. Mary Kay, you might want to read what you printed about what type of counseling he sought........counseling that only benefits his mental state as pertains to stepping back on the field as sharp as possible..........nothing that acknowledges his perversions and how they have affected his "victims." Of course that would make perfect sense to you, Mary Kay and your QB...........since he has never done anthing wrong.

Deshaun Watson, in settling and getting counseling, is showing the NFL he’s willing to do the work: Browns Takeaways
Published: Jun. 21, 2022, 8:30 p.m.

By Mary Kay Cabot, cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Over the past two weeks, Deshaun Watson has shown the NFL he’s willing to do the work to move forward from the his off-the-field issues and resume his NFL career.

If the league sees enough effort and willingness from Watson, it could be a mitigating factor in his discipline, which could be handed down in the next week or two. According to the collectively bargained Personal Conduct Policy, the NFL will take into account a player’s actions in the aftermath of the alleged wrongdoing.

“In determining discipline, both aggravating and mitigating factors may be considered,’’ the policy reads. “Reference also may be made to requirements to seek ongoing counseling, treatment, or therapy where appropriate as well as the imposition of enhanced supervision, which upon satisfactory compliance would serve to mitigate the discipline otherwise imposed.’’

Last week, Watson acknowledged for the first time that he’s seeking counseling in the wake of more than 24 female massage therapists accusing him of sexual misconduct during appointments mostly in 2020 and 2021.

On Tuesday, he reached confidential settlements in 20 of the 24 civil suits against him, and is prepared to try to clear his name in the other four cases if it comes to that.

“It’s been a long year and half, I can say that,’’ Watson said last week during mandatory minicamp. “Personally, it’s been tough. And since I came here and since I became a Cleveland Brown, I’ve been able to use all the resources that this organization has. Been able to start using counseling and talking with someone just to make sure that my mental is straight and so I can be prepared to walk on this field and be as sharp as I possibly can.

“And I’m going to continue to do that, be the best person and grow as an individual, grow as a human being, and just be able to be the best citizen, best person that I can be outside this field, and also when I walk out of this building, be the best teammate and player that I can be.’’

The settlements came a week after Watson repeated that he didn’t want to do it.

“I just want to clear my name and be able to let the facts and the legal procedures continue to play out,’’ he said last week.

Ultimately, he decided it was the best way to begin to move ahead.

The decision to seek counseling was also a departure from his introductory press conference March 25th, in which he said he didn’t need it because he didn’t do anything wrong. Whether he believes he’s innocent or not, Watson should benefit from therapy, and it could have an impact on the NFL’s decision.

Why would setting merit the NFL “going light” on him?

What does that have to do with the “embarrassing” behavior the punishment is meant to address?

I vote a game suspension for every woman he settled with and will settle with in the future. Any evidence leading to criminal indictment in future allows CEL.

I’m no capologist but if they do i’m sure it’ll gum up the Browns ability to put a competitive team around him. Which will cause the diva to do diva things if/when he eventually does get to play.
They can but as of now 2023 Cleveland $31 m in negative so prorating more dead $ into fewer contact years should implode team. Allegedly the Browns have a pretty strong team on paper and they better hope that last them for the next 3 to 4 years. They took a huge risk with Watson and need to go to Superbowl sooner rather than later and why I am hoping he gets a long suspension from the NFL. In my opinion the NFL is making huge mistake by not disciplining owners such as Snyder.

The Browns have the most capspace availible despite Baker and his 20m. They also have the 2nd youngest roster in the nfl. They gambled and after this season, they still have a loaded roster. The best thing Texans can do is try to build a roster at least equal to the middle nfl with all the draft capital then add a qb.

You haven't figured it out? Based on some of these postings, as long as it isn't one of the women involved in the civil suits, you can take all the potshots and make all of the character assassinations you want against any woman. Don't believe me, read any post that mentions Jilly Anais.

You can't be so foolish to believe that Ole Jilly is sticking by her man who's telling the world he's cheating on her with 60something odd massage hookers?

Jilly is standing by her man because she's being paid to.

And I think that's one of the things that pissing off the other owners and should be pissing off the league.
The owners are pissed about one thing. Watson's fully guaranteed contract. Fully guaranteed deals are for owners, not players.

She’s a celebrity slut. She has been passed around the NBA and also by rappers.
Glad we still believe and support all women around here. Very refreshing.

Correct!!! I wouldn’t spend 2 seconds trying to build up NFL owners. They didn’t like how the Haslam’s and Browns broke the unwritten rule among owners. If Watson clears the hurdles on his settlements and had still been with the Texans before the draft…..many of these owners would’ve turned a blind eye to his actions and pursued signing him to help their team win games. I think most could turn a blind eye to Watson’s actions b/c they’ve done far worse and have the money/power to make it go away.

Exactly. @Corrosion, that was my point. I don't have a dog in this fight or even care to get in a back and forth on this topic. Just an observation about this forum when it comes to Jilly Anais. Before the allegations became public, it was posted that she was influencing Watson to leave Houston for a major market like New York to further her modeling and singing career. Now, she is a celebrity slut and paid escort standing by his side.

I don't think anyone is "cool" with having a whoredog as partner. However, history is littered with people who continue to "stand by" their whoredogs. I've made my weekly visit and now exiting this thread. Carry on guys.
