Confidence goes a long way and what I saw today was a young man with just that. Weeks ago he wasn’t throwing with this type of confidence. I’m liking the improvement from game to game.

I’m wondering if he felt rushed before, with good reason & today he felt protected and played with a little more patience.

Or if Easterby hasn’t been allowing him to let’r rip & today he relaxed the leash a little.

Outside of the first few games this season I haven't been able to watch our Texans play, but hearing that the O-line showed up and actually played well today is the kind of news I have been hoping to hear for a long time now. Mills may be pretty good if he gets consistently good O-line help going forward. Still, I don't expect too much from him.

It may be that the coaches are starting to make an impact. I sure do hope so.

He's been getting better every week IMO, as he gains experience. He's been calling audibles, adjusting protection at the line, and showing he can read a defense for awhile now. Today the o-line showed up and run blocked well, and he didn't have to run for his life when he dropped back to pass which in turn allowed Mills to shine. We need more of that for sure.

Am I crazy or was there only a single punt in the entire game?
In the Yahoo sports app, Texans are listed as punting once. There are no punts shown for the bolts.

I remember us punting once. The Chargers had 3 TO's, and I don't think they had to punt on any of their other possessions.

Some posters dont want to hear this, but Mills outplayed Herbert today. Who would've thunk it. This doesn't mean I think Mills is the next great QB. But I'm really looking forward to Caserio fixing the OL, so Mills has a decent running game to work with. Hopefully games like today will happen more often. Mills certainly deserves a chance to show his stuff with a better OL and receiving corps next yr. He's earned this much with his play so far.

I predicted 4 wins and I dont expect them to beat the 49ers or the Titans.
 
Mills played his best game all year today
OL was better than I expected with the guys out because of Covid but it helped that Bosa was out for the Chargers too.
Burkhead should have been the #1 RB the moment Ingram was traded. I don't want to ever see David Johnson take a snap for the Texans again.
Defense got 3 turnovers which were the difference in the game because we scored 17 points off those turnovers.


I really hope we go BPA through the entire draft and let Mills open the season as the starter next year if he is trash hopefully next year is a better year for QB's and you have a chance to draft a franchise guy in 24.

Why dont you expect much from him

Put the talent around him, especially on the OL and the future will be bright.

I was there at the game, so I can vouch for this. The crowd went from indifferent to actually being the home field advantage! I just hope Davis Mills continues to progress so Caserio can upgrade both the offensive line, and the defensive front to set the future HC up for success!

Even on the Chargers forum they said that by the 4th quarter Texans fans were blowing the roof off.

Well, when you wait until week 16 to actually have a chance to cheer it should be loud. Seriously, that was the best played Texans game against a somebody in a long time, so happy people enjoyed it. I gave up season tickets until I am again convinced of the product, waste of my time and money last few years

Important thing to remember though is if, and this a big if, the rest of the team is built right you can win it all with a Flacco or Foles.

Flacco did win a Superbowl with a near-perfect team around him, so that is not purely bad.

Mills is in the process of getting his chance to show he is the long-term solution. I don't actually know what he is yet.

I'm not going to say he's Flacco. Is Lawrence, Jeff Blake? Blake put up better numbers. I would take that ring Flacco lead the Ravens to though.

I don't know if he's earned the right to go into the 2022 camp as the starter yet unless roster decisions enable him by default.

Lets be honest this team has so many holes that no matter what position they draft it has to help.

Nobody else knows if Mills is the long term answer.

What I want to know from the anti Caserio/Mills crowd is why they feel Mills cant be a franchise QB? I mean he's looked better than any rookie QB in the last 3 games. This probably has to do with the faction of fans that dislike all things Foxboro.

Me I'm choosing to be optimistic and think Mills can be a franchise QB once an OL/weapons are put around him. Doesn't mean it will happen, but I'm a fan and hope Mills lives up to his pre college hype. Dude has talent.

Not disagreeing. I just made a post in one of these threads saying the Texans need to build the team before bothering to waste resources on QB. Because unless you get a Peyton type who can cover up deficiencies, QB isn't going to matter much if the team sucks.

Here's the way I see it. We get zip for Watson in 2022 (but I'll not rule out something in 2023 after his suspension) and we'll have one top five pick in the 1st round. With Mills on the team, do you really think they'll use that 1st round pick on a questionable list of QBs? I could see them taking a flyer on a QB in the 2nd round if one of the top five or six QBs should mysteriously fall that far, but not in the 1st round.

I thinm it more has to do with him being drafted 67th, QBs drafted after the first round are almost defaulted in people's mind as backups. Also doesnt help that we have been trained to believe that good things don't happen to the Texans at the QB position.

Even Brady had to win a couple of Superbowls before people got past the drafted in 6th round. Doesnt help that he was drafted in the same class as Lawrence which we have been told for years now he is the best QB ever to come out of college.

Its kind like watching a Herbie movie and seeing a Volkswagen beetle beat a race car.

I get this, but I choose to evaluate players and not draft positions. BTW, I may be in the minority but I've never thought Lawrence was ever going to be a top 5 QB.

The way I see it is, the last 3 weeks Mills has outplayed Wilson/Lawrence/Herbert. This is a time to be excited as a fan not a skeptic. If it doesn't workout you've lost pick #67. No big deal and you move on.

Give me a big smart kid with a quick release and throws with accuracy and anticipation. That's the type of QB I can work with and I hope McDaniels comes to Kirby to really work with Mills. I also hope Pep stays and is promoted to OC/QB coach.

Because franchise qbs jump off the page quickly. From just a physical standpoint, in my opinion he looks limited. Doesn't mean he can't get stronger. He's making progress, but it depends on how Caserio evaluates the qb class this year and next. At the very least he looks like a quality backup.

Some of the throws he made yesterday jumped off of the page. In the last 3 games what has made you think he's limited physically? I'm thinking if Caserio can fix the OL there will be few limits to the offense once Mills has a run game to work with. I'm very interested in what limits you think Mills has?

1.Quick decision maker - Check
2. Improving weekly- check
3. Makes anicipatory throws into tight windows with great accuracy.
4.Doesn't drop his eyes when the rush is coming for him.
5. Plenty strong enough arm. One of the best throws he made yesterday was a throw 30 yds downfield on a line to the opposite hash, about 50 yds in the air. Receiver couldn't keep his feet in, but that was a great throw and certainly not the type of throw a weak armed QB can make.

Now if you want to say he feathers some throws to much and sometimes locks onto his receivers I can get on board with you. But that can be fixed with more experience.



Which QB's jumped off of the page physically in the last draft? In next yrs draft? Did Brady/Manning Brees ect... jump off of the page physically? Nope the did their work with their minds. Which is a much more important trait. IMHO
