Houston Texans 2017 2nd round pick, Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt

So that’s $12M+ against next year’s cap. Is that correct?

Do the Texans really currently have $35M+ in dead money next year? If so, wow!!!
As you know, his contract was re-done to add cap space which IMO was a disastrous move. Dead $ 2021 just over $49 m and 2022 just over $35 m

$12.8 million in dead cap money next year by waiving him!! He was an asset you could have traded and got something. I was told Nick Caserio was competent and smart. His moves have sucked. One of the idiot that gave Cunningham that ridiculous contract and was responsible for the worst trade in NFL history is STILL employed. This team continues to set the bar for stupidity. Proud of our city for giving this team the finger by no longer going to games or watching this crap on TV. That’s that only way that change will happen. We are giving up our PSLs. We have had tickets since the beginning. **** Cal, Easterby, Caserio and Culley.

Yes, and it climbs to over $50 million in dead money after a 2022 Watson trade.

Luckily they wont need the cap space next yr.

I'm hoping Caserio nails this draft 4 or 5 guys and 2-3 KGH/Kirksey/Thomas type guys in FA. Mostly I hope the OL gets fixed.

Does it matter?

Does the team need the cap space next year?
It really has been a terrible, horrible, awful, horrendous kind of day for you File Clerk Oompa Loompas. Yes, you always want to be able to spend as much of the salary cap as you can because without it and when don't have it, it really compromises what you can do. If you think the reshuffling of the chairs on the deck of the Titanic was bad in 2021, wait until you see 2022. You ain't seen nothing yet. Basic economics.

Who was Caserio supposed to trade Cunningham too?

I didn't know BOB was still employed by the Texans org?

Belichick cut Lawyer Malloy after the 1st game of the season. After he made the pro bowl the previous season. He didn't play Butler in the SB. Etc...

The NFL’s greatest one hit wonder Jonas Gray fell victim to the Bellichek dog house.

“ On November 16, 2014, Gray rushed for 201 yards, and a franchise-record four touchdowns on 37 carries in his fourth NFL game, leading the New England Patriots to a 42–20 victory over the host Indianapolis Colts.[8] Gray was the first NFL running back since 1921 to score four rushing touchdowns in a game after entering the game with zero career touchdowns,[9] and the first running back in the Super Bowl era to account for more than 25 percent of rushing touchdowns (4 of 10) in a week with at least 10 games. A correction to the official stats (removing a 2-yard loss that was negated by a 15-yard facemask penalty against the Colts) made his final stats for the game 201 yards on 37 carries.[10] He scored 24 total points in the game, which was tied with Marshawn Lynch for the most by any player in a single game in the 2014 season.[11]

Due to a team infraction, however, Gray was benched for the next game. He would only record 91 more total yards in the season, and was inactive for four of the Patriots remaining nine games, including the team's win in Super Bowl XLIX. Gray finished the season with 89 carries that resulted in 412 total yards and 5 touchdowns.[12] On September 5, 2015, Gray was released by the Patriots.[13]”

I would take a reshuffle of finding the next KGH/Kirksey/Thomas.

Then hit on the 2022 draft to the tune of 4 players and then in 2023 have plenty of cap space and a full compliment of likely high draft picks.

What do I hope happens in the 2022 draft and FA? Finding a couple of top notch OG's and a Center wouldn't hurt either.

Caserio certainly won't be able to find anyone decent to take what the Texans have left. Look for another 30 JAGs signed on one year deals in the offseason. The Caserio Way.

I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt. But lately he’s been making some dumb ash moves. This shuffling of players in and out is very disturbing. Team can’t get any continuity, especially on the offense with that crap.

As long as he can find a few KGH/Kirksey/Collins/Thomas etc... what's the problem? Unless you think the Texans are ready to make a big splash in FA and will be SB contenders next yr, then they will need all of the cap space they can get.

Nah, his real failure is accepting a partnership with the Pastor.

Do you not like the fact that Easterby is a Christian? Because if this is true you must really hate Frank Reich.

Or do you not like the fact that Derrick was proven to be who he is and Easterby told Cal not to run cover for your guy?

Do you want continuity with these players and if so why? Most wont be here in 2 yrs. BTW, Who has he been shuffling in and out on the offensive side of the ball? Playing Jordan instead of Akins is a bad thing?

That's not what he said at all.

Bro are you seriously asking a question like that. I mean are you freaking serious? Every darn team should want continuity amongst their players. This is the pros dude.

I was just asking why he doesn't like Easterby?

Also I guess I will ask you, what does Easterby do and who did his job before Easterby entered the doors on Kirby? Could it be he just doesn't like anything Foxboro? BTW, where's the The Patriot Way is all Brady and BB would be an avg HC crowd this yr? The Pats are currently the #1 seed in the AFC.

I guess now it's the it's all about BB crowd that will be the loudest. I find it very humorous how the narratives change around these parts.

Like I said, most of these guys wont be on the team in 2 yrs.

Who has been shuffled in and out of the lineup on the offensive side of the ball.

I find it odd that its brought into the workplace

Has it been?

Or is this just some of the media pushing a narrative. Like I said the Colts dont seem to have an issue with this with Reich. It seems to me that everybody knows where Easterby/Reich stand but they dont wear their religion on their sleeves.

Wonder what people would think of devout Christians like Tom Landry or Reggie White in the NFL these days?

My point is this is a false narrative that's been pushed by the media. I find the media to be intellectually lazy and territorial. Of course I've got a very low opinion of the slimey media in sports after what they did to Luhnow.

Continuity among offensive linemen might be kinda important. Which also answers your second question.

I know you like Caserio and that's cool. I'm willing to give him a second off-season myself. But Culley is a place holder and his in-house disciplary management is clearly screwing the pooch. The Cunningham cut was just outright stupid. Short of us finding out Zach's at parlors daily, he was one of the few assets we have. Worst case scenario, make him inactive for the rest of the season and deal him. Instead, we lost a tradeable asset and cap space all to feed Culley's ego. With the info we have now, this was horribly managed.

I've always hated hockey and soccer. I don't even know the rules. Surely though, it's more entertaining then the product we field every Sunday. The Texans are so utterly disappointing they're killing my love of football. Might be time to find another sport. Lacrosse, chess, snooker, fat elderly diabetic women playing water Pollo. I think it's all better then the sh*t Kirby is shoveling us these days.

Do the concession stands sale tums at reliant? They should. I'd invest in that.

I dont like or dislike Caserio at this point of the re-build. Some of his moves I've liked, others not so much. (I guess if you dont criticize every move Caserio makes you're a Caserio fanboy. Not directed at you.) The OL has been hurt, with Tunsil/Britt/Heck/Taylor missing considerable time. What was/is Caserio/Culley/Campen supposed to do? BTW, Scharping sucks and Howard is only marginally better. (Thanks Devlin.)

Also I wanted to add Cunningham has been terrible the last 2 yrs and a bunch of tackles downfield doesn't change this. If Cunningham covers a TE/RB it will be the 1st time. These types of guys have very little value. On top of that Cunningham became a headache, showing up late for meetings/not getting a Covid test like he was supposed to do etc... Caserio missed out on a 6th/7th rd pick at best to get rid of his azz. Good riddance, anybody that thought Caserio was going to get a 4th rd pick for Cunningham was delusional. (I dont mean this in a bad way TB)

Beautifully well said.

It doesn’t matter, the objective should always be to build chemistry and continuity.

Check out my post below yours, continuity matters particularly on the OL. With all of the injuries on the OL what would you have done to promote more continuity?

I'll cite the same source I saw you cite earlier. 610. Clint sterner (the spelling of which I don't care to check because I just don't find him noteworthy) proclaimed how he was in charge of football operations.

He may not have final say but he seemingly has input on everything - per your source.

He is one of the common denominators between the obrien version of stupid and Culley stupid.

He may be totally innocent, but I think it's fair to ask.

Focusing on his religious beliefs Is a diversion and completely unnecessary.

So you're on the record, being religious should eliminate you from consideration for a NFL FO job.
