So many tall OTs coming into the League are eventually shifted to OGs in the NFL, it isn't totally out of the question if they are extra strong and can try to learn to play low in leverage.............not a transition that all can make........and harder to make with longer arms (Heck's is 34.25").

Matthew Judon, their CB group, Lawrence guy etc ... Who do the Texans have that's as good as them?

They have 2 TE's better than any on the Texans roster. Heck, Mr. Tex thinks Meyers is as good as Cooks This is without bringing up the OL differences.

Definitely agree and to clarify I see Heck only as a tackle.

Minnesota LT Daniel Faalele is 6-8 @ 380 lbs…..guy is a mountain and will probably be a solid target come RD2 but almost every analyst has him moving to OG in the NFL. I think he’d be the biggest NFL OG to play the game.

I thought he was coming out last season and wanted the Texans to draft him in the later rounds but he decided to stay. His extra season of CFB is probably going to be a sound financial move.

I have not seen mainstream analysts place him anywhere other than OT.

Davion Davis has been plucked from the Browns' PS today. He had been suspended for violating the NFL Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse. However, he was able to take part in Cleveland's final preseason game. His suspension was related to a 2019 DUI during his time with the Vikings. Davis was the Browns' leading WR in preseason. He plays much taller against CBs and Ss than his 5'11" height.

He went undrafted in 2019..........mostly based on his terrible 4.64 40 time (and coming from a small school). However, that 40 time was not a true reflection of who he is. He sustained a left knee injury in his senior year, missing the last 3 games of his season. He had not fully rehabbed by his Pro Day.

The sun is 93 million miles away. Light from the sun takes a little over 8 mins to reach us here on earth. Imagine how small the probability is that a photon leaves the sun and somehow manages to reach the earth's surface vs all the different directions in space and destinations it could have travelled. Now, imagine the complete wastefulness of that photon's potential energy and usefulness as it lands on Davis Mills in a Texans uniform. In science terms, this should have never happened.

Random thought. I know some posters were high on AJ McCarron. Considering the current QB situation and Driskel on the roster. Any ideas why the Texans didn't resign McCarron? Hindsight is 20/20. Should they have kept him on the roster and have a QB competition between him and Taylor?

Weren't "some" posters, just me. I thought he was the best QB in that draft.

I thought he would have been a fine backup, so I don't know why the Texans weren't interested. They moved on from him early though.

The Raiders were desperate. They had gone through 4 starting centers in 4 years, so in his rookie year Veldheer, after only having practiced at LT. He only started at center once. The Raiders quickly figured out that he was not center material.

He actually played Center in HS.

In the game he started at Center, the Raiders were able to move the ball; they had more offensive plays than the opponent.
It was the D and the turnovers that cost them.

How do you give up on a guy that you (Cable) liker, after just one game?

It's not like the Raiders hadn't had a tall interior lineman before.

Gallery was a 6'7 LG for them.

I’m very interested in Davis. He was a man among boys at Sam Houston State. Especially his junior year. And watching him this preseason he appears to finally have that explosiveness back. Excellent hands and fearless over the middle. An ideal slot WR for this team. Interested to see how they work him in with Amendola presumably coming back soon.

Great example of him playing above his height with this td in preseason over 6’1” Tyson Campbell who was first pick of 2nd round in this year’s draft:

The Texans have signed WR Hazelton. He is a 6-foot-3, 206-pound rookie out of the University of Missouri that originally signed with the Houston Texans as an UDFA on May 14, 2021, but was released on Aug. 11. He was then signed by the Packers who subsequently released him.

Running game still a non-factor 3 years into tenancy.
Offensive game planning hit and miss, all too often shut down by good teams.
OL still not a strength, despite having one of the best LT’s in the game on huge contract.

I’m thinking it was a mistake keeping him as a holdover.

Can’t help but think keeping subpar talent around the roster so the front office don’t lose face on their deals has been the Texans way in the past.

I’m still in wait and see mode with Caserio, but he’s had to turn the roster with very few resources, picks from the arse end of the draft aren’t at the top of the list of factors in whether he succeeds or fails.

A pick at the arse end of the draft put 6 rings on Caserio’s fingers and $30 million in his pocket.

BTW, when does the draft become irrelevant? Pick # 135? #87? I’m sure the players picked after that magic spot would like to know that they’re wasting their time.

From watching Davis' highlights from college, he seems to be dynamic after the catch, and seems to use his blockers well. He also seems to be aggressive going after the ball on 50/50 balls. On one of the plays I saw from his Jr year, the ball was poorly thrown, and looked to be an easy interception, but Davis cut back and attacked the ball to beat the DB to it for a reception.

I'm intrigued by this pickup.
