Sexual Assault Suits Against Watson

Interesting.

Skip the fines by showing up. When the media circus begins the nfl is compelled to act by suspending him. He gets paid and no fines...

If the nfl doesn't act he has a phantom injury also skipping fines...

Could play out that way.
I don't believe you meant the NFL suspending him...............and he gets paid.

I honesty don't expect him to be a man of his word and I fully expect him to weasel out by showing up to training camp and forcing the NFL's hand. He most likely wants nothing more than to be placed on the CEL so he can still get paid while not playing for the Texans.

Yeah, that would be the smart move by him, but he's been anything but smart with how he's gone about his "massage therapy".

I agree that the number of alleged victims is significant but I'm not sure if saying that Watson's accusers outnumber Elliott's 20 to 1 and therefore it has anything to do with how long it will take for an decision.

I in no way am comparing Watson's and Ezekiel Elliott's situations. In the following link I did a quick scan which was probably a mistake however it seems like the NFL made several errors and as others have claimed has no idea how to create nor Follow a disciplinary procedure.

I can see how the issue of deshawn Watson can continue for a couple of seasons. I can also see how it could be Reasonably quickly resolved.

I don't think it can or will be resolved fast. In order for that to happen you need a few things to happen.
1: Watson to pay off each of the civil suites.

2: The criminal charges to be dropped. All 9 ( I think it is now) cases have to resolve and close.

3: The NFL would have to find him not suitable for a suspension or any other punishment.

Then if all that happened, I would assume that he would be free to be traded a nd/or play immediately.

1: If 'rumors' are true that money offered by DW was acceptable but Hardin insists amount be known and Buzz said no [ which is opposite of the norm] we could get a settlement notification at any hour.

2: Civil resolved and the other 9 ladies realize that Hardin wants to go to court {if they insist} and as several here have voiced no evidence has been presented & nothing says anything is on horizon; the DA could decline all 9 claims sooner rather than later. Of course those nine could file civil but that would be resolved during any suspension OR if none DW not miss any playing time.

3. NFL can immediately thereafter levy a suspension 6-8 games for 2021 and the teams start falling all over themselves to get a "top 5" QB that starts for $10.54 m base and who turns 26 September 14th.

A deal could be done before season begins as that would be good for DW, NFL and Texans.

It’s 11 not 9

I agree. Money going into some sort of escrow account until the situation resolves itself makes a lot more sense.

I agree with you and @Carr Bombed. I'm sure there's some bogus bylaw in the players agreement that determines his pay in the matter. This may be the catalyst to change it.

Holding 10+% of his income if innocent sounds fair (he didn't play.)

Withholding 90% on a criminal conviction and 60% on a civil case also sounds reasonable.

I don't know what the current agreement says though and I'm just spitballing.

I'm waiting for these to drop below $10

There are no formal escrow arrangements in the CBA regarding discipline.

While that's all fairly true. Due to the criminal cases, other cities and states can/might get involved. Making it harder for him to walk. Plus, while it's not amazing evidence it is 100% allowed to be admitted. His web history of contacting strangers (women) on Instagram. I am fairly sure that will be done. It shows a pattern of behavior related to the charges of anything sexual. As well as the fact he was looking/stalking for sexual behavior. Making it a minimum of prostitution in the eye of a judge and likely a jury.

I got this information from a friend who is a lawyer. He said it's not a 100% slam dunk for a guilty verdict. However, it destroys credit of him "not doing anything wrong". Still, we will have to wait and see if it is used and what fallout it has IF used.

And I think that if that is all the evidence that can be presented rusty will jump all over it. I can see no reason a DA will take that to court. If evidence exists, bring it but not he said she said. Swing and miss just hurts other women.

Watsons only hope to play this year, is in Houston. He and his team are foolish to think otherwise. I can see a scenario where the nfl does nothing until next off season but his trade options don’t exist until this mess is cleared up.
I wonder if the realization has occurred to him that he could be out of the game for, maybe, two years, even if he serves no time? And does it matter to him? Not counting his playing salary, past endorsements have set him up for life, even with probable settlement payouts.
