That study/analysis posted by CloakNNNdagger at #2234 (DeShawn Watson's massage therapy allegations spotlight a misunderstood industry, by Morgan E. Richard) I found to be insightful. It's interesting how closely my posts #2,019 and #2,071 makes the same points. This is particularly applicable to the concluding paragraph :
What was unexpected was a finding that "most incidents occurred in clinics with multiple registered massage therapists as opposed to a solo practice".
I appreciate having this study posted.
But I got three dislikes for delving into this subject matter and making these points. Probably knee-jerk reactions with no serious thought put into the point I was advancing. But a professional's opinion, that's different.... Massage therapy colleges might consider implementing sexual education for professionals and sexual harassment training in coordination with local sexual prevention centers to better prepare massage therapists to respond to these incidents. As a starting point, massage clinics could post their zero-tolerance policies for sexual harassment in their reception areas and treatment rooms ... (but) it is the clients who must be held responsible for their actions.
