Are we 100% sure he will be fired? He will be fired won't he? I've seen enough of this. I worry that he goes on some run of wins that saves his job.

I don’t want O’Brien fired just so it would make me feel better. I want him fired because I believe the team has a better chance of winning without him. When I was still defending him it was because I felt the team played hard for O’Brien. Especially Watson because Watson even said as much. Once O’Brien traded Hopkins I believe he lost the goodwill of a lot of the players in the locker room. To add to that, David Johnson and Cooks aren’t playing up to their contracts. Cooks had zero receptions yesterday and Johnson looks to be stuck in low gear. Those are the two players O’Brien gambled on big time and so far that gamble has not paid out.

There’s still a few members here that defended O’Brien’s decisions to shake up this offense. Now they’ve gone silent. Do they still believe O’Brien was right? Or are they hoping Watson completely fails so they can continue to blame him for the all the struggles on offense?

I do, the $$$$ had to come from somewhere to pay the 160 million dollar man.

But we didn't save any money. We're spunt. We're over the cap for the next two years. What money came from where? Pay Hopkins/Reader, or pay Tunsil, Cunningham, Murray, Johnson, Cook, Cobb... None of the moves O'brien made saved any money to pay Watson.

from google: Spunt - to spin something (past tense) Common Misspelling of spin. (not spend)

Don't mind me, I'm just screwing with ya. LOL

Bill O’Brien’s In Trouble. Pretty early to play what-if, but what if the 0-4 Texans (with Green Bay, New England, Indy twice and Tennessee twice still to play) can’t recover, and finish 5-11? That would place Houston somewhere near sixth in the 2021 draft, with maybe the sixth and 38th overall picks in the first two rounds. Problem: They traded both first- and second-round picks in 2021 in the Laremy Tunsil deal 13 months ago. Uh-oh. Not good for O’Brien the GM.

Now, give O’Brien credit. In four of his six seasons as head coach, the Texans have won the AFC South. Those who want to minimize winning four division titles since 2014 should realize the Eagles have won four since 2007, and the storied New York Giants have won four division titles in this century. But the Texans haven’t won more than a wild-card game in January, and O’Brien’s trade of DeAndre Hopkins will reverberate, particularly with Hopkins starring so far for Arizona.

Owner Cal McNair’s been more hands-off than his father, franchise founder Bob, but Cal McNair could have a decision to make after the season. Two, actually. O’Brien brought in smart and authoritative Jack Easterby to run the front office in April 2019. If O’Brien goes, could Easterby, his hand-picked front-office chief, stay in a revamped organization? I wouldn’t bet against it.

You can only pay so many guys. You could also say that money was spent on DW4/Tunsil and the other saved money was spent on the other guys.

They can get out from under several contracts if they need cap space this off-season. What they can't do is get out from under the 160 million dollar man's contract.

And the betrayal of Tim Kelly is complete. Tim Kelly has followed O'Brien around for 10 years, like a loyal bird dog. His reward for this was to be given the OC job with control over the play calling against 3 of the toughest teams in the league only to have it all taken away when the schedule softens up. I'm no fan of Tim Kelly's play calls but man, that's dirty pool by OB.

no one defended him, but you could see what he was thinking..and let’s not act like having Hopkins here the previous 4 years made a huge difference in our offense...damn sure ain’t making a huge difference in AZ’s right now.

At the end of the day, the season’s not over and DW4 does in fact still need to play better. The only thing that has changed is we get to get a new guy to blame when the team doesn’t play well.

I see where you’re coming from, but again if the players you have can’t implement the system you want to use you change the system to suit the talent. In NE right now, I doubt Newton is running the same offense they were when Brady was there
he is running the same offense..with a sub package that caters to what he does best...

LJ8 and Kaep are the only guys in modern football I can recall who had offenses built totally around them. Neither of those guys have shown/showed they can beat you under certain circumstances.

In that regard, we shouldn’t want an offense built around DW4 running the ball just b/c it’s a skill set he possess, we should want an offense that fits him a little better than what he was in, but an offense that calls for him to beat you from the pocket....

I think Watson can beat teams from the pocket, I think OB gave him too much to think about and it slowed things down for him. I do think DW needs to get better, I just don’t think OB is the one to help him. I was talking with a friend the other day and we couldn’t think of one player that had gotten a lot better under OB. I know Fitz had a good year under OB, but I don’t think he got a lot better.
