It’s a four-year, $80 million deal, with $60 million functionally guaranteed, based on the structure.

He gets $16.26 million in 2020 (with no signing bonus), $21.5 million in 2021, $22.374 million in 2022, and $20 million in 2023.
Surprisingly, the Chiefs agreed not to insist on having a fifth or sixth year on the contract. Those final years provide a one-way benefit to the team; if the player is still playing at a high level, the team happily keeps him. If he isn’t, they cut him loose. For Jones, after four years he’ll be back at the table again.

Of the $80 million, 47 percent of it ($37.626 million) is fully guaranteed at signing. Roughly 70 percent ($55.75 million) is functionally guaranteed by the second year of the deal. By April 2021, Jones will pocket $37 million or nearly half of the full value of the contract.

Beyond the $80 million, he can earn $1.25 million per year in sack incentives, giving the deal a maximum value of $85 million.
 
Well Philly in a sense playing it very smart. But as the cases go up. Need on everybody's part to do social distancing and wearing masks.
 
Chris Jones 2020 remained exactly same and he got $21.5 m for 2021 and can be traded at any time with zero dead money. He might like $ but he could wind up this season on the Washington Red Wolves or whatever they end up being called Miami. I guess the attraction for both is a highly possible SB ring and kicking negotiations down road. If I was KC my hand would rest on phone taking all offers. Advantage team, IMO.
 
I don't get why Yannick and Jamal Adams cannot get something done. I'd give our 2021 third and 2022 first for for either of them.
 
Cowboys, Dak Prescott take next step toward potential divorce

The Cowboys have had chances to get quarterback Dak Prescott signed to a long-term deal. They’ve consistently failed to offer enough to get him to accept. Now, Prescott has more power over the team than ever.

He’ll make $31.4 million this year. Absent a long-term deal after the season, he’ll either become a free agent in 2021 or make $37.68 million under the franchise or transition tag.

Some think the Cowboys won’t tag Dak next year. If they don’t, he’ll be able to pick his next team, unfettered by the Cowboys. That could mean the Jets or the Patriots or the Steelers (if Ben Roethlisberger retires) or the Colts or the Jaguars or the Raiders or Washington or the Bears or the Lions or the Saints or the Panthers or the 49ers. And then the Cowboys would have to find someone else to play quarterback.

Whatever happens, the failure to reach a long-term deal pushes the minute hand much closer to midnight for Dak leaving Dallas. If they tag him in 2021, a long-term offer will need to be good enough to get him to trade in $37.68 million for 2021 and the doomsday option for 2022: more than $45 million under the transition tag, more than $54 million under the franchise tag, or the open market. Whatever that is, it will be a lot more than what it would have taken in 2020.

Maybe. But I have to wonder how good a deal it really is for Henry, the NFL rushing title holder for the 2019 season. In 2011, the Titans signed Chris Johnson (with 2 years left on his contract) to a 4 year, $53.5 million contract with $30 million guaranteed............and that was with the salary cap at $120 million, as compared to the present salary cap of $198.2 million. Henry's contract is essentially only a 2 year contract if the Titans so wish........the Titans can cut him after the 2021 season, if they so choose. Then again, Johnson's contract was actually a guaranteed contract that the Titans could not break from until after his 3rd year.

Report: Cowboys “all but given up hope” of Randy Gregory’s reinstatement

The last we heard of Randy Gregory, the defensive end was “working through the process” of reinstatement in May.

Two months later comes word that the Cowboys have “all but given up hope” of Gregory being reinstated from his indefinite suspension. Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram doesn’t elaborate on the reasons for the team’s pessimism in his report.

Gregory missed the entire 2019 season while indefinitely suspended.

Gregory, 27, is serving his fourth suspension for violation of the NFL’s substances of abuse policy. His last reinstatement came July 17, 2018, and he played the entire 2018 season.

His last game came in Week 17 of 2018.

Although the new Collective Bargaining Agreement ends the policy of suspending players for positive marijuana tests, it does not provide amnesty for players like Gregory who were serving suspensions at the time the new CBA was adopted. So he still would need approval from the commissioner to play again.

To be fair Texans have yet to be in position to use a 1-4rounder on a backup QB. We always use those to draft "need" guys or trade to improve. If things fall right from this draft and our 2021 third round kick off, by '22 we could begin to select and coach up QB and other BPA type guys...

The NFL’s original schedule is now off schedule.

Teams already are pushing back reporting dates as the NFL and the NFLPA continue to negotiate how to handle the inevitable revenue losses from this season.

Most veteran players were scheduled to report to training camp next Tuesday, but Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that a failure to reach a deal by the end of the weekend could prompt virtual work to continue indefinitely.

The Chiefs and Texans, who will play the first game of the season, are scheduled to begin strength and conditioning work Sunday.

The current CBA contains a no strike/lockout/suit clause, and the NFL sets reporting dates.

“The league is management. They have the exclusive right, just like somebody who owns a plant, when does it open, when does it close, what our hours are,” NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith said Friday on a Pro Football Writers of America call. “The CBA dictates wages, hours, working conditions, and generally and explicitly in this case we’ve made provisions about being in a position to approve the infectious disease response plans for the teams.
THE REST OF THE STORY
 
After his terrible accident, Alex Smith has been cleared to full football activity. First avoiding loss of limb or death during a terrible post traumatic infection; then making it back to "normal" activity; now questing for a return to football.............all amazing. However, being told that he is healed (with the support of a metal rod through his tibia) and cleared for football does in no way guarantee his road back to anywhere close to pre-injury play. Here's wishing him a successful return without further injury.:clap::clap:
 
Duvernay has a $5.5 m cap hit this season with four million dead $. Chiefs do not have a good backup. I wonder if Martinas Rankin will start over 3rd round Lucas Niang. I'd trade them Fulton if they make it worth while..lol

I saw an older (not much) video of a stop watch run where he hit a 4.4-40. I thought it would be worth a gamble to bring him ina for a look-see. That was based on Hopkins not really having anyone else capable of pulling coverage off of him. If a 4.4-40 receiver got behind the defense....he's probably going to outrun the DB's to this endzone.....despite his age.

He ran an official 4.65 when he was 22.. his explosive prime.

There's no way to prove this to MW.

Even if he did this at the combine, there would be somekind of supposed rolling start/clock malfunction etc... You're wasting your time. I'm just glad to see that T.O. seems to be doing well. He was a candidate for a hard life after retirement.

Actually running the 40 with Tyreek Hill and another runner: Evidently, Hill ran a 4.37-40.....Owens wasn't far behind. Dude is a physical specimen at 46 years old.

He's absolutely a beast for his age. He was a beast in his prime. But even in his prime he wasn't sub-4.5.

And that doesn't happen all of a sudden after age 40 and show up on a roundabout guessed handtime.

He was multiple steps behind. That's plus multiple tenths of seconds in a 40.
