Wait. Should I ask before we go farther what kind of deer rifles you guys have?
30.06 kicks like a bay mule. Love it.
I haven’t been able to drive since the end of May. I had an accident and pushed two disc out of my cervical vertebrae into my spinal cord. Required surgery and two months in a neck brace. Can’t drive until I’m out of my collar. That’s why y’all didn’t read anything from the first two weeks or so of June...

And I don’t hunt or drink. In case anyone was wondering/hoping. Sorry everybody.
I feel you. Had back surgery on June 1. Had the L4-L5 facet joints shaved down and fused. Had a cyst growing on my sciatic nerve at the joint as well. Couldn't hardly move for the first two weeks after. Wearing a brace now when walking. It's a Velcro lightweight brace so it's not too bad. Still about three months out from being anywhere near 100%. Hang in there. Back pain ain't no joke.

Discomfort is a part of pretty much everyone’s life. It doesn’t last for ever.
True that I have arthritis in both knees and something going on with my left shoulder that causes a stinging sensation on my left arm. If I’m riding too long or sitting down too long, then my legs will be very stiff. Ever so often I play basketball with my boys and my knees would hurt afterwards. I can not sleep on my left with my left arm going numb. So I understand the discomfort brother.

Forgot to mention I have a Winchester lever action .357 rifle. We can use that to shoot pigs that wonder up to camp while we are having adult beverages.
I don't drink when I hunt ... Me + Booze is a bad enough combination , add guns to the equation and its a recipe for disaster.
I can count on one finger the times I've drank in the last 3 years ....

Crazy is crazy and there's no cure for crazy, except if Brown really misses football and knows this is his last chance to play in the NFL then he might be able to keep his mental health issues in check for a yr or 2.
I don’t think someone with mental issues can just “keep them in check for a year or two.” Having mental health problems is not something someone can control on command. You think a person with Downs or any sort of autism can just “keep their mental issues in check” at their convenience? Doesn’t work like that my friend. Hell, even anxiety can’t be controlled on command. I agree with your first sentence.

Not necessarily. Generally, psychiatric drugs can't cure a mental health problem. But in some cases, they can help reduce the symptoms or help coping with them better. Unfortunately, 1 in 4 will also have associated substance abuse, which as @banned1976 has pointed out, makes it much less likely for a favorable treatment outcome.

Except those siblings don't have any ownership of this team - Janice is the majority owner.

Minority owners are

Kirbyjon H. Caldwell
Mary Anne Dingus
Charles W. Duncan III
Harry Gee Jr.
Javier Loya
Kay M. Onstead
Gary R. Petersen
Fayez Sarofim
Joseph W. Sutton

Philip Burguieres was a minority owner but has passed away and I'm not positive who his share went to.

Cal may be the chairman & CEO but he's not an "owner" in title.
I thought Loya sold out a few years ago, perhaps I'm thinking of someone else or more likely just incorrect.

If 3 of the 4 kids go to Mama and say we want out what does Mama say?

There's not a safer inverstment than an NFL team. If one of the part owners needs cash for another investment, they can use their equity in the team for a low interest loan. Which owners often do. If there are family members that want out entirely, those that wish to stay in can easily buy the others out. After his mother passes, this is what I expect Cal to do. And finally, all of this may be fleshed out in Bob and Janice's wills. Neither of us know. But I trust my Delorean more than yours, Biff.

Mama says "out of what? You aren't in anything." Corrosion posted list of ownership and no kids listed. As with other wealthy families, might be interesting when will is read.

When Corrosion did post he didn't mention their % of ownership. Janice is the majority owner (and probably by a very large %) when she passes it's reasonable to think the children will inherit an equal %. I have no doubt McNair family will maintain majority control.

Cal could very well want to keep the team unless the other siblings would like to cash out.....which would be a much bigger haul when it becomes their call versus trying to wait for the team to put all the pieces together for a SB run. That could all be circumvented if the Daddy and Momma McNair prevent the sale of the team in their will. I think Cal would have a hard time selling his siblings on the idea that he could lead the effectively.

Contrary to popular belief , Cal's a really smart guy. I know I've knocked him a few times , mostly over OB but you don't get an MBA from Rice otherwise - no matter how much money your daddy has.
The problem with this franchise , at lest in my opinion is they are too willing to stay the status quo and very unwilling to step out on a limb , afraid of change.
They believe what they are doing is working when they are winning division titles and making the playoffs and really its hard to argue otherwise because to reach the goals beyond that , you have to do those things first.

Who knows what their wishes are upon death … it could be left in equal parts , could be left whole in trust , could be sold , could be left to the McNair foundation …. nothing would surprise me.

Just heard JJ Watt on channel 13 news saying,” if the NFL doesn’t come up with a good safe plan, he will not play this season.” paraphrasing of course.

Man they might as well cancel the season.
I don't blame JJ .... or anyone else who might opt out.

The NBA is trying to finish the season "in a bubble" .... and many players have tested positive and many others have opted out. I really can't see them playing this thing out.

For the NFL its even harder , 55 man rosters Vs 15 and all the associated coaches , trainers , doctors and other staff ?!

I think they are delusional , can't tackle someone and social distance .... We've got to get this virus under control before we worry about things like sports / entertainment / mass gatherings.

We have to hope they come up with a good vaccine so we can put this mess behind us but even that appears difficult when the antibodies only last 3-4 months and with the way they are fast tracking the efforts , I'd be hesitant to have the vaccine in the early stages.

I think ALL major sports should just scrap it for this year. Basketball, I was never very interested in anyway. I love baseball, but I just can't see myself getting very interested in a season of 60 games, especially if a couple of top tier players opt out. And football, well football is king, but I just don't think it's a very good idea. And like baseball, what if someone opts out, or worse, gets the virus? No one wants to watch scrubs play all season. And I'd watch a game on TV with no fans, but man, that's gonna feel a bit weird. Hard to get really into it in my opinion.

If the NFL and the NCAA scraps all football this season the 2021 NFL draft will be interesting.

Yeah , its gonna be interesting …. those combine results will matter more than "Football" and teams will get even more caught up in those workout warriors than they are now.
What do they really have to make decisions on ?

Another question - picking order ? How's that going to work ?

Yep, a year away from football and they'll all want to be paid like they had a 2020 season under their belts.

NHL dealt with this in '05 after the lockout 'season'. They used a weighted lottery system calling on previous previous years' draft orders and playoff appearances.

Interestingly enough that draft had mega-prospect Sydney Crosby up for grabs in hockey..

Next season could then be the Trevor Lawrence lottery for football..

Random thought. What does a separation stat tell you? Looking at the stat below. What are your thoughts and how do you interpret it?
  1. With Hopkins the primary WR and is not known for getting separation, this inflates Watson's place stats?
  2. Watson is throwing into tight windows?
  3. Watson was holding the ball too long and allowed the DB to recover?
  4. This is another reason why O'Brien traded for Cooks? Quicker separation?
  5. Is Watson throwing with anticipation and accuracy to be rank that high?

In regards to Hopkins - That guy catches damn near everything and doesn't have to be open / need separation to do it. Having him as your primary target probably inflates that statistic some in terms of efficiency.

As for Watson - I think we'll have to wait and see what he does without "that guy" as a safety valve.

Another thing , what's the sample size ? Likely relatively small and subject to randomness rather than the cream rising to the top. I don't think any of us would expect to see Jackson at the top of such a list.

There's statistical overload that often doesn't pass the eyeball test , I think this could be an example of that.

Honestly , I don't think any of this matters as long as OB is the coach and this is the system we run - It doesn't take advantage of what Watson does best and tries to make him into something he's not. Don't know how many times I've said it - Square peg , round hole , the analogy fits.

He’s doing some of everything. He throws with anticipation on some plays and he holds the ball on some plays. Some plays are long designed routes. Sometimes his receivers are not getting open or any separation. The receiver with the best hands in the game didn’t get separation often. But he won those 50/50 balls at an elite rate. Watson trusted him so he would throw in those tight windows to him.

After a discussion with a fellow member of this board last weekend I’m actually getting excited to see the unveiling of this new offense. I’m hopeful it’s going to be better.

You are much more optimistic than I am that's for sure.

I expect the same offensive system , same plays .... just someone else calling them , maybe in a different order.

After this, Baker and Dunbar will be lucky to even get a job selling peanuts at an NFL game. No real mention of what is happening with their attorneys, but I suspect that they are changing underwear quite frequently these days. :gun:
