FIRE O'BRIEN NOW!!!

Actually got clarification on whether Tim Kelly was calling plays. Team source said NFL Films had O’Brien wired up, and O'Brien called every single one of the plays. So there ya go.

Well we know he can call a good game, just has to be consistent with it. And stop changing it up, make the defense react/adjust to you.

Cool the OC called a good game. How’d the HC do in game? Let’s not move the goal posts. The HC is the problem. He’d probably make a halfway decent OC given that lone responsibility.

It's on twitter, so it has to be true.

I don’t think that works for everything. But who do you think isn’t telling the truth here?
Pretty obviously Sean Pendergrast on Twitter and the sarcasm was stoopid obvious. And don't tag me for misspelling stupid. Don't be that idiot.

In my opinion since OB is the HC anything to do with coaching is his fault. RAC reports to him.
That is fine, but funny how others on this site (not you MWS) give RAC credit for the defense and defensive picks when it is going well. I actually agree with you, the way this is now, BOB is accountable for all the good and bad except cost of my drinks and parking. So no more excuses year. When I watched the game again, actually, the defense was pretty strong until after the muffed punt and that stand was good. They got off the field plenty of times. After the muffed punt though seemed to get too easy

This is like the sixth game in six years that actually went well, and yet somehow that's a reason to celebrate and not a further sign that this guy needs to be fired.

Any win is a reason to celebrate, and no one is saying he doesn't still need to be fired but since its not happening anytime soon you take your victories and signs of hope where you can get them.

Agreed which means it time for RAC to go, he's had a top 10 defense which hasn't been able to make the stops when the team needed them to be clutch, they can't stop, or really even slow, any decent QB which is what modern offenses are built around and his "bend don't break" scheme bends so much teams wrap it around our neck and choke us with it.

Did RAC trade clowney for nothing in return?
Kdog, you are also saying we need rookie picks because of cap, Clowney had to go if you keep Tunsil, renew JJ, Mercilus, probably Watt and Reader will chew up those dollars. I would have thought we could get more, but he wanted to much in the summer before July 15 to get it done it seems with us or others. For 2019 though we could have paid him, so somebody in the building thought better to not have him around

Credit to the offense, but I must say that Atlanta Falcons defense was just astrocious. Guys constantly out of position like it was the first time they were on the field together.

I was ok with trading him for future cap reasons. But they took on a bad contract (mingo) and then paid half his salary. At that point I would just have him play on the tag for one year

Yeah, I cannot defend the Clowney deal even if I wanted to. Originally I read a lot about Martin's speed and pass rushing, but don't see it, so we basically got a stable locker room and the press asking football questions instead of the circus we would have had asking each week about him, wondering if we would be better etc. I would have let him sit and said no comment to any questions, just waiting for next year or a contender with an injury this year, I also would have tried for him to be one of the 1's we traded to Miami (after failing to move by july), which set the circus in motion, so I guess I stub my toe too there

Agree with what you said but Miami didn’t want him. They are in full rebuild And Clowney with his unimproving stats and want of big money deal wouldn’t fit into that plan. He’s not even a guy like Watt that you can plan your defense around and make the face of the franchise.

They were going to trade for him, probably to just trade him again or let him leave next year.

They could have just let him play on the tag. It wasn't until the trade to Miami came up and Clowney didn't want to sign the tag and go there that it became a circus.

Yeah, we needed Tunsil now, they could sit on Clowney til some contender got hurt or the offseason when a partner could crack open the contract and probably get a reasonable deal. Us letting him sit was not as easy and we looked desperate, but we never get the full details

Yeah, but I think we had Miami convinced, so we could have saved one of those valuable 1st rounders we all ***** about. Clowney said no way

Why not just let him play? Then trade him or let him walk or tag him again.

After five games he has “accumulated” 3 solo tackles, 1 int, 1 sack, 1 FF...on track for 10 tackles this season...1.6 $$MM per tackle.

Exactly! As is the 'let's hang OB for everything' crowd
There’s a reason for fan vitriol towards BoB. It is deeper than X’s and O’s. It’s deeper than wins and losses. It’s the reason even as I defended him I understood the criticism and anger towards him.

The media is a direct conduit to the fans. As long as BoB refuses to give straight answers to softball questions after a loss, and looks at the media with disdain he’s going to remain one of the least popular sports figures in Houston.

What are the grades of Martin and Mingo?

@asiansportsman: Per @PFF, the top 5 highest-graded Seahawks through Week 5 are:

Russell Wilson - 90.7
Jadeveon Clowney - 84.5
Will Dissly - 81.1
Quinton Jefferson - 75.9
Shaquill Griffin - 75.7

(min: 100 snaps)

That is a fair criticism and on any given Sunday we can say the same thing about any QB. Especially QBs like Rodgers, Big Ben and many other QBs. You never see anyone calling them stupid. To your credit. You did not call Watson dumb. However SteelB is another issue.

Personally, I'm calling SteelB out on this, "Watson is too dumb to run O'Brien's offense" take. SteelB is a smart guy and should understand the racial dog whistles of calling Watson "too stupid" to run O'Brien's offense. So, either he is too stupid to understand, just being an obtuse troll or there is a deeper agenda.

Personally, I found the comment ridiculous and a smear. Especially when you consider the QBs that have fumbled, thrown stupid INTs and pick six their way through the history of this organization and he never called any of them stupid.
I agree. I think his take on Watson was ridiculous and not accurate at all, but I don't think he was implying race was the cause. He just doesn't like Watson. He hasn't since the day he was drafted

@steelbtexan just used a poor choice of words to get his point across.

This back and forth about "stupid" is adding nothing to the conversation - You guys need to let it go , stop talking about each other and talk about football.
