The Texans 2019 Regular Season Schedule.......

The purpose of my post was jokers will complain about everything. It has nothing to do with being realistic.

The only reason why the Texans are successful is because they are playing the weakest schedule.
Ain't no way in hell will the Texans win over 8 games this season. The schedule is too tough.
Very few o this board are realistic
They are successful?
Guarantee? No reason to watch then?

Get out and go home

It's a brutally tough schedule and IMO only a few pollyannas might see us getting thru it and making it into the P/Os on the other side.
The season hasn't started yet.... no one knows how tough the season will wind up being
Who predicted that both the Colts and Titans would win more than 8 games last year and that the AFC South would be amongst the best divisions in the NFL?

What a lovely typo that is.

More seriously: barring injuries to key positions, I predict 9-7. There's a reason we had that big winning streak last year: we're not pushovers anymore.

Yes, I have reservations about our quarterback-sabotaging head coach, but I think everyone else is up for this schedule.

Awright man then I say more power to all of you pollyannas !
I'm just looking at recent history. Last season there wasn't a massive difference between the Afcsouth teams. & now Jacksonville has a QB it's even closer.

Unless you see Indy sweeping us, the Titans, & the Jags, no one is running away with this division .

This type of scheduling and Deshaun Watson sets O'Brien up to have a Jeff Fisher/ Marvin Lewis like run with the Texans. Weak schedules will lead to short playoff runs and the promise of next year. Strong schedules leads to .500 records or worse, high draft picks and promises of having Watson, adding a draft picks will turn things around quickly and we will ignore the weak schedule.

If the playoff year comes along in O'Brien's contract year, another extension and the cycle continues.

I bet he comes with the same O-line personnel as last years......... cause rookies are dumb and wont be inducted in the HOF.

True, but the clues are rhere to see. I will have a much better idea of where they stand after the draft.

The Texans will have a medicore year or a sort of sub-par year. They will not have a good year, and I doubt very seriously (as long as Watson is still standing) have a crash-and-burn year. All bets are off if Watson goes down though. The Texans probably wouldn't win a single game the rest of the year.

OB sucks. I ******* hate our head coach.

Any team that loses their starting QB is going to suck. Look at the Packers for instance. Redskins, 49ers etc....

Exception to the rule: Eagles/Foles.

Bumping this thread back to to the top so we can reflect on our thoughts of the schedule before the season started. I see a few 2-14 predictions, 8-8 and 9-7 predictions........and even the moniker "Murderers Row" being used.

This was in all reality a brutal schedule. Also stated in this thread "To be the best, you have to beat the best". This season we went toe to toe with the Saints and gave them everything they could handle. We beat the Patriots. We beat the Chiefs. These are some of the teams I consider "The Best" and we showed up in all three games.
But....this team is hot one minute and cold the next as evidenced by games vs the Broncos, Panthers and Bucs.

One can say that we where lucky early in the season and would be correct in thinking that. Andrew Luck announced his retirement, Nick Foles got injured. Patrick Mahommes was not 100%. However look at the surprises.......Minshew may be a better QB than Foles. Titans where on a roll winning 6 of 7 games prior to the Texans beating them at their house. Bucs where 5 of 6 and red hot prior to Houston winning yesterday also at their house.

I think despite the good things that went Houston's way this season, this was still an incredibly difficult schedule to contend with. I am keeping my fingers crossed that in the playoffs B'OB and company can figure out how to field the Texans team that played New Orleans and New England and showed dominance overseas vs the Jags. We do this and we have a punchers chance despite our many short-comings.

There were a few of us who recognized the potential of this team. On Sept 7, in the "Are The Texans Now Considered Contenders" thread, I posted, "We finally have in place the team which can go toe to toe with any team."

Earlier, on Aug 31, in the "Annual Predict the Season Poll", I predicted 12 wins. In that poll, 14% predicted 4 or less; 43% 5-7; 23% 8-10; and 18% of us had the foresight to predicted 11-13.

A few days later, in the "Texans Trade For Tunsil" thread, on Sept 3, I find I had lowered my expectation to 10 or 11 wins.

The thing about this team, while we still need some improvements going into next season, this team this season is a Jekyll and Hyde team, with the transformation dependent on whether Will Fuller is healthy. As much as we need a better pass rush, our chances for playoff success is with Fuller being on the field.

Hey everyone, I came here this morning for a few reasons. Wish all of you and yours a very Merry Christmas, wish congrats on wrapping up the division, and see if a thread like this existed.

While the largest grouping thought this was not a playoff team, the Texans are looking at being a 11 win team, having beaten some of the best in the league.

Sure there are reasons for concerns heading into the playoffs, but it’s really hard to say with any certainty. Well, unless you are talking about my Bengals and how bad they stink. I can say with GREAT certainty they they do in fact stink !!

You guys will be taking your shot at the Super Bowl, while we take our shot at drafting Joe Burrow. My son and I will be watching and rooting just like you guys !!

GO TEXANS and the best to you all !!!

So KC and LAC play at noon on Sunday and Texans are scheduled for 3pm.
That means Texans will know if they have a chance at the #3 seed or if they're locked into the #4 seed before kickoff.
Unless I'm missing something, Texans can decide if they need to sit players, or go all out to beat TEN based on whether KC wins or loses. Right?

Did I miss something? The game got moved back to 3?
And too bad about resting players, etc., I hope the Texans boat race the Tacks and keep them out of the playoffs.
Yeah, I hate the 3:25 start... messes with my passed out time :D

I just want them to come out healthy And KC to lose big

After watching the Ravens players drop like flies yesterday we shouldn’t be worried about the three seed. Stay in the 4 and focus on Buffalo. You have two weeks to prepare. Every game will be difficult in the playoffs. Don’t be fooled by the patriots. They will kick it up a notch and playing in NE is no easy feat.

Ur apology should be as loud as Ur disrespect was
Strenght of Schedule (SOS) is a very BIG thing when it comes to betting and forecasting. Houston had the toughest schedule to begin the season, and with the evolution of the 2019 season has settled into the 5th overall hardest schedule in the NFL this year. Not too shabby. Especially when you think about all the brainfarts, and all the dysfunction among fans, and the up and down nature of the team, you can see that the team belongs on the field with any othe team. Biggest question would be if this team and in particular the coaches can have these guys ready to play with an all or nothing mentality. That still remains to be seen 6 years into Bill OBriens tenure. Hope for the best, expect the worst and you wont even be let down with this team!

No. If KC wins they should NOT go all out to beat the Titans. That game becomes an absolutely non-factor to the Texans. They can neither improve or lose their position. In that instance, no reason whatsoever to risk anything.

Now if KC loses, I think they should go all out to try and win. There would then be a chance to gain some advantage. Not having to play a tough Bills team, and then facing the Ravens back to back, should they find a way to beat the Bills.

I think it’s a much easier road to the AFC title game if the Titans or Steelers and then the Pats were on it.

Teams are required to announce inactives 90 minutes before kickoff
They wouldn’t make Watson inactive regardless, so I don’t think having to name inactives before the KC game is over is that big a deal.

At the very least, first team should come out to play the first drive. We still have that albatross to work on.

I'd like to see them to start the 3rd qtr as well.
