Texans announce 2019 schedule
The Houston Texans 2019 regular season schedule features four primetime games, including two at home, and is highlighted by a matchup with the division-rival Indianapolis Colts in Week 12 on Thursday Night Football. Houston’s 17 primetime regular season games from 2016-19 are the most in team history over a four-year span. The Texans have played 38 primetime games (including Thanksgiving) in team history.

Bill O’Brien kicks off his sixth season as the Texans head coach with a season-opening matchup on the road against the New Orleans Saints on ESPN’s Monday Night Football on September 9. Houston opens on the road for the sixth time in 18 years and will open in primetime for just the third time in franchise history (2002, 2013). The Texans are 2-0 in season-opening primetime games and will start the season on ESPN’s Monday Night Football for the second time in team history. Houston defeated the Chargers 31-28 in San Diego in Week 1 of the 2013 season.

The Texans’ first divisional game will be in Week 2 when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars on September 15 for the first of two matchups. In Week 3, the Texans will travel to face the Los Angeles Chargers as Houston is scheduled to play every AFC West team for the first time since 2016. That matchup is followed by back-to-back homes games against NFC South opponents as the Carolina Panthers will travel to NRG Stadium in Week 4 and the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5. This season marks the fifth time in franchise history and first time since 2015 that Houston will take on each member of the NFC South.

Houston will go on the road for two consecutive road games in Weeks 6-7 as they take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium and the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Texans return home in Week 8 to face the Oakland Raiders on October 27. In Week 9, the Texans will travel to London to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, which marks the first time the Texans will play in the U.K. in franchise history. The game will be broadcast on NFL Network on November 3. Houston’s international game is immediately followed by a bye in Week 10.

Following the bye week, Houston travels to Baltimore to take on the Ravens in Week 11 before hosting three consecutive home games, including two primetime matchups. The Texans and Colts will play in Week 12 on Thursday Night Footballbefore Houston hosts the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots on NBC’s Sunday Night Football in Week 13. The Texans’ three straight home games end with a matchup against the Denver Broncos on December 8 in Week 14. It will mark the sixth time in team history and third-consecutive season the Texans have played three straight home games during the regular season.

The Texans will play back-to-back road games for the second time in 2019 during Weeks 15-16. Houston will face the Tennessee Titans in Week 15 in the first of two matchups followed by a trip to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers. Houston closes out the regular season with a home game against the Tennessee Titans on December 29, which marks the 13th time in team history and the 10th year in a row that Houston will close the regular season against a divisional opponent.

Hate playing the Patriots after Thanksgiving. Even at Home. Hopefully we can eek out 8 wins before December. Denver, Titans, Bucs, Titans ain't a bad way to end the season.

Just my opinion, uneducated and more of a gut reaction. Unless a lot of hoped for good things & breaks happen for the Texans, 8-8 might be stretching it. But the game in London? Three things: Don't like it, don't like it, don't like it. For personal reasons. During the season, I go to the early church service so I can be home by noon, all comfortable in my reclining lift chair in front of the TV. That just won't work for the London game, so I'll have to record it. It's just not the same. Also, I'm concerned about the wear, tear, and jet lag on the players, coaches, and support staff. The season is already hard enough.

I see six really tough games - N.O., L.A., K.C., Indyx2, and N.E. The rest are between totally winnable and nfl parity toss-ups.

ps - I think Nick Foles is overrated as f*ck. Yes he lit us up once last year. He's also just as capable of laying eggs.
I agree with your list of the really tough games. Let's say we go 2 & 4 in those six, then 7 & 3 in the ten toss up games. That puts us at 9 & 7 and probably out of the playoffs. But I'll still watch and root for the hometown team.

I believe much will tend to hinge on 2 games.............the Colts games.
It really would feel good to give the Colts a beat down twice this year, good enough to make up for some of the suboptimal things that could happen (I dislike the Colts almost as much as the Cowboys). And, if we beat the Colts twice, we'll probably win the division.

That's exactly the point I was making.

Well we’ve had our share of 3rd string nobodies look like HOF’s on prime-time against us as well, ala Jacoby Brisset.....
The holy number shall be 14. Thou shalt count losses to 14. Thou shalt not count to 13. And 15 is outright.

51-1!

That Bucs loss is gonna hurt.

:/

That's a helluva schedule...I'd probably be "happy" with 8-8...hopefully they exceed my pathetic expectations.

Come on, O-Line and secondary...we need you bad.

Im usually optimistic but just got a terrible feeling about next year, Obrien loses the locker room, a few key injuries set us up with new coach, top 5 draft pick, and last place schedule for 2020

IMO, the worst thing that could happen is Deshaun Watson leads this team to an AFCCG appearance Despite the coaching. Then he'll never get the coaching to take him farther & we'll waste the rest of his career trying to get there again.

Jokers cried about the weak schedule last season. Lol and now that we have pretty tough schedule this upcoming season, them same jokers are worried and scared. Don't be scared now bwhahaha. Time to stump with the big dogs. To be the best you have to beat the best.

10-6 here we come.

Let's go Texans
I'm not sure what you mean, but 30 out of 33 posters predicted last year that the Texans would have a winning record because of the weak schedule.
http://www.texanstalk.com/threads/predict-our-record.113369/

Now, with a tougher schedule, the majority think that it's unlikely that the Texans can win the division, and it will likely be a task just to get in as a wild card - given that all the teams go through approximately the same injury situation.
They are just being realistic.

The bridge between stupid and useless is short.

So your rooting for failure?

The purpose of my post was jokers will complain about everything. It has nothing to do with being realistic.

The only reason why the Texans are successful is because they are playing the weakest schedule.

Ain't no way in hell will the Texans win over 8 games this season. The schedule is too tough.

It's a brutally tough schedule and IMO only a few pollyannas might see us getting thru it and making it into the P/Os on the other side.

The Texans could only win 8 or 9 games next yr and still be a much better team.
