Which off-season moves would you like the Texans to make? (Roster/FA)

I saw somewhere its 34 mil. Final numbers haven't been revealed i guess.
That’s plenty left to go and get Suh. Darrick Henry, Leonard Fournett and now possibly Saquon Barkley?? All major players on defense coming off injury. Better load up. Suh could really be a difference maker. The other teams in the AFC south continue to add quality players so if we’re really going to compete we better keep up.

I believe if Mr. Health is on our side, we will be a dominant defense without Sue. But adding Sue would most definitely put us in the top 3

So, in this scenario offenses would see a Texans defense that lined up like this:

DE- Suh / DT- Reader / DE- Watt

OLB- Clowney / ILB- Cunningham / ILB- McKinney / OLB- Mercilus

SS- Mathieu

CB- Colvin / CB- Joseph or Johnson

FS- Jackson

Yeah, this would just about screw any offense if everyone is healthy, happy and productive. The only way EJ Gaine makes sense here is if the Texans sign him, trade KJo and relegate JJo to third CB. This group would have the potential to be a top rated NFL defense.

With $30M in cap room left, and with many contracts not on our cap in 2019, we still have a lot of flexibility left. There are still some free agents that can help, and probably not cost a lot in cap space or years. I hope we can pick up some additional 1-2 year deals to shore up some holes at TE (Eric Ebron, Julius Thomas or Luke Willson?), T (Cameron Fleming?), WR (Jeremy Maclin or Terrelle Pryor?). I don't see us picking up Suh, but with our injuries up front, we could use the depth, and rotate bodies to keep all of them fresh. Mike Pouncey at C is intriguing, given the injury history of both Mancz and Martin.

Need real RB in case Foreman does not come back strong. Is Blue still avaiable? Better back up than Miller but still need a starter. NO AP.
Need a No. 2 WR when Fuller goes down again. Is there still one out there?
TE threat,
DL quality backup if Watt does not come back or Clowney goes down again.
How is LB depth.
I think we still have enough money left.
If we don't improve O we will be OK until D gets tired in 2nd half.
I think we are getting close if key players stay healthy.
Of course we still have BOB and his don't lose keep the game close mindset.

Don't waste our cap on a Clowney extension. Let's see if he can play another season healthy.
I would still be open to trade or we probably lose and get nothing. See Mario.

Covington? A starter? Our top 4 defensive players coming off injuries? No TEs or OL left worth looking at. Suh is the last available FA that could come in and make a real difference.

The Jags turned their team around last year with the additions of defensive end Calais Campbell, cornerback A.J. Bouye, and safety Barry Church. Now they’ve added the best OL in free agency and added a real weapons in Lewis and Jenkins on offense.

Jacksonville Jaguars
WR Marqise Lee: Four years, $34 million
WR Donte Moncrief: One year, $7 million
TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins: Two years, $10 million
TE Niles Paul:Two years, $4.75 million
G Andrew Norwell:Five years, $66.5 million
LB Lerentee McCray: Two years, $5.5 million
CB D.J. Hayden:Three years, $19 million
S Cody Davis: Two years, $5 million
S Don Carey:Agrees to deal

Tennessee Titans
RB Dion Lewis: Four years, $20 million
G Josh Kline:Four years, $26 million
DE DaQuan Jones: Three years, $21 million
DE David King:One year
CB Malcolm Butler: Five years, $61.25 million

Tits have a visit lined up with Suh. Their DLine would look like Suh, Jones, Kasey. That’s scary.

Front load his contract and let’s start smashing Offenses. It just makes too much sense.

EJ Gaines visiting Cardinals today. I don’t think we add anymore CBs in FA.

I’d like to see the Texans add a single high safety in FA or the draft. Texans have added a couple excellent players on the boundary in Colvin/Mathieu but i’d like someone to compete with Hal to be the last line of defense in the event our pass rush doesn’t get there in time on a deep ball.

Everyone forget about Hal? Was he not good or something?

I actually like really Hal but before signing Matthieu, Hal would be our best most experienced safety, and that i did not like.
Pairing him up with a badarse SS is the ideal fit for Hal, he's got pretty good ball hawking skills as a converted CB, just needs support next to him

Jags still have Bottles as QB and lost one of their leading receivers. Their team lives and dies with their defense and Fournette. I can’t wait to see them this year with a healthy team and Watson. We should be a prime time game for sure.

We scored 40 points on the Titans when Watson had found his groove and playing with a poor offensive line. Their new head coach didn’t prove to be effective or special with his previous team. Did Mariota get hurt again?

Our team, if healthy, can compete for first place in the AFC South. Defense will be top ten. Offense will be top five. Special teams will still be special.

Will be interesting and fun year if everyone is healthy.

I would like to see Foreman come back full speed from Achilles. Long shot though.

There is a political Kaep thread in the NSZ. No need to create a new one. Merits as a FB player here, politics there.

I actually thought the kap thread just deleted was a good way to isolate that topic and unclutter this thread.

I've been monitoring this thread along with pft to try and stay updated on free agency rumors and news. Sucks having to sift through all the b.s. to get that info.

Your site though.

FFS. There is one here and one there. We don't need a 3rd.

You can't isolate.

Fuxking whining about this crap is far more annoying.

Again it's your site and you'll manage it how you want. That's cool. If your not down for isolating the kap **** out of this thread then maybe a new thread focused purely on free agency and rumors is necessary.

And your right, whining about it helps to clutter this thread more (this post included ofcourse.) I know posters don't always stay true to the intent of any thread ,but I'd like to streamline where possible.

I come here because this site is a resource on what the texans are doing. If I have to skim through 3 pages of kap related bull **** to get news, maybe another thread is a good alternative.

Brotles actually played some solid football last season. Dude might build off of that small success. Something about confidence can do a lot people wonders.

Most of the Kaep stuff was strictly about FOOTBALL. Maybe 2 % of the thread went political. Therefore 98% of this thread was about potential free agents, acquired free agents and what other teams has done in free agency. So I really don't get the why you keep bringing up where things should be. And if you did come here to read about the rumors, well buddy you would've gotten exactly what you wanted. But you pretty much ignored all of that good stuff because you were too keyed in on the 2% political fiasco.

Well thanks "buddy" but an offseason thread on us signing tebow which won't happen has all the same merit.

Sorry, I want to separate actual news from politics or fantasy. I guess I'm stuck skimming through 3 plus pages to find something relevant. I'd create a new free agency and rumors thread but it would be deleted. Carry on with your kapernick mosh pit. We're not signing him and to proceed under that pretense is stupid.

What other positions should we focus on in FA before the draft comes?

Curious where you guys think we should go from here?
all positions as we have money to deepen our roster. FA at this point can be best player available. For example I would still try to sign Safety Tre Boston as we've seen what injuries can do. He had an excellent season with 5 INTs and 8 passes defended.

Based on what's left and how it might help the Texans:

DE- Suh / Offense's have 5 OL and a TE or two...the Texans could counter with, Watt, Suh, Clowney, Mercilus, McKinney, Cunningham, Reader, then Honey Berger or KJax. There just isn't enough offensive personnel left to pick-up all the options available to RC. This signing would definitively dwarf any of the other AFC South signings b/c the Texans defense could very well reign supreme. RD1 Pick

LT- Robinson / This is "Greg" and he's mostly been a big bust for a RD1 pick. He's the only LT left on the FA list and the team could easily get him for a one season prove-it type of deal. I would possibly guarantee 200-300K so if he fails with the opportunity, the Texans can cut him during camp. I think the money made him lazy and if he was that naive on how to handle it....well the good thing could be that he's possibly pissed most of it away and could be hungry to regain the financial security that football provides. RD1 Pick.

RB- Peterson / He would like to finish his career in a Texans uniform. So bring him in on a veteran's minimum one year deal. To be honest, if he took this deal I wouldn't be half surprised if the team got a better than expected season out of him. Even though he's coming off a neck injury his conditioning program would more than likely have him ready to go for camp. Of course the contract would be contingent on him passing a complete physical. Again, this roll of the dice comes cheap but brings a ton of experience. RD1 Pick.

WR- Hunter / Former Tennessee WR who was drafted by the Bills. He's 6-4 @ 212 lbs and runs a 4.4-40 with a 39.8" vertical. He injured his knee with the Bills and during the process of coming back appeared to lose his reliable hands...could be the footsteps or fear associated with re-injuring the knee. Anyhow, when he hit FA the Steelers signed him to I think a one year contract. He didn't do much in Pittsburgh last season but he could be worth a flier. Why? He's tall, has reasonable speed and has played in the slot on occassions. I wouldn't mind the idea of a tall and reasonably fast receiver lining up in the slot in some plays. Again, this is a cheap one year signing with a very affordable Pre-Season out. I could think of worse places to play to try and revive a career. RD2 Pick.

These 4 signing would still leave plenty of money in the Cap Bank for any type of emergency.

Just read on twitter we have 71 players under contract. with 8 draft picks, that will make it 79. so we only have room for 11 UDFA to get to 90 correct ?
Cuts will be tough this year, since we are loading too many new faces. A lot of familiar names from last season wont make to 53 i guess.

Rightfully so

Heck, by years end half of the active people were already unfamiliar names...not sure how tough some that will be.

As of right now I'd like to see the Texans go chase down Johnathan Hankins.

Watt-Hankins-Reader would be a hell of a line and there's nothing like getting a guy from a division rival who was just cut.
