What other positions should we focus on in FA before the draft comes?
Curious where you guys think we should go from here?
Based on what's left and how it might help the Texans:
DE- Suh / Offense's have 5 OL and a TE or two...the Texans could counter with, Watt, Suh, Clowney, Mercilus, McKinney, Cunningham, Reader, then Honey Berger or KJax. There just isn't enough offensive personnel left to pick-up all the options available to RC. This signing would definitively dwarf any of the other AFC South signings b/c the Texans defense could very well reign supreme. RD1 Pick
LT- Robinson / This is "Greg" and he's mostly been a big bust for a RD1 pick. He's the only LT left on the FA list and the team could easily get him for a one season prove-it type of deal. I would possibly guarantee 200-300K so if he fails with the opportunity, the Texans can cut him during camp. I think the money made him lazy and if he was that naive on how to handle it....well the good thing could be that he's possibly pissed most of it away and could be hungry to regain the financial security that football provides. RD1 Pick.
RB- Peterson / He would like to finish his career in a Texans uniform. So bring him in on a veteran's minimum one year deal. To be honest, if he took this deal I wouldn't be half surprised if the team got a better than expected season out of him. Even though he's coming off a neck injury his conditioning program would more than likely have him ready to go for camp. Of course the contract would be contingent on him passing a complete physical. Again, this roll of the dice comes cheap but brings a ton of experience. RD1 Pick.
WR- Hunter / Former Tennessee WR who was drafted by the Bills. He's 6-4 @ 212 lbs and runs a 4.4-40 with a 39.8" vertical. He injured his knee with the Bills and during the process of coming back appeared to lose his reliable hands...could be the footsteps or fear associated with re-injuring the knee. Anyhow, when he hit FA the Steelers signed him to I think a one year contract. He didn't do much in Pittsburgh last season but he could be worth a flier. Why? He's tall, has reasonable speed and has played in the slot on occassions. I wouldn't mind the idea of a tall and reasonably fast receiver lining up in the slot in some plays. Again, this is a cheap one year signing with a very affordable Pre-Season out. I could think of worse places to play to try and revive a career. RD2 Pick.
These 4 signing would still leave plenty of money in the Cap Bank for any type of emergency.
