If you don't mind me asking, who are the six 1st round QBs for next year?
Like I mentioned in another post...I'd probably have traded back to late RD1 or very early RD2. The asking price would have been a 2018 RD2 and possibly another 2017 RD5+ in return. I get my asking price and the draft could have looked something like this:
RD1/2: OT- Cam Robinson- Alabama
RD2-25: OG- Ethan Pocic- LSU
RD3-25: RB- D'Onta Foreman- Texas
RD4-24: TE- Jake Butt- Michigan or Jordan Leggett- Clemson
RD4-36: DT- Carlos Watkins- Clemson
RD5-25: LB- Jordan Evans- Oklahoma
RD6-??: SS- Josh Harvey-Clemons- Louisville
RD7-25: LB- Keion Adams- Western Michigan
This draft sets the table nicely for 2017 and 2018. OL- Check, RB- Check, TE- Check, Defense- Check. There's no QB but like I mentioned...2018 has got a very good looking class and the majority of these QB's will need no up-selling to justify why they are considered RD1 QB's.
Sam Darnold- USC- 6-4 @ 225 lbs.
Josh Rosen- UCLA- 6-3 @ 210 lbs.
Mason Rudolph- Oklahoma State- 6-5 @ 235 lbs.
Josh Allen- Wyoming- 6-5 @ 230 lbs.
Luke Falk- Washington State- 6-3 @ 214 lbs.
Jarrett Stidham- Auburn- 6-2 @ 210 lbs.
Lamar Jackson- Louisville- 6-2 @ 210 lbs.
Jake Browning- Washington- 6-1 @ 210 lbs.
My Sleeper:
Brett Rypien- Boise State- 6-2 @ 210 lbs.
If the Texans had fortified their foundation in the 2017 draft, then they would have been in a position to move up and take anyone of these QB's in 2018 and gave him the best opportunity to succeed. If Savage has a bang-up season behind the improved offense...Texans finally have the luxury of drafting BPA or fill needs. Remember, the Texans would have all 7 picks (each RD) plus their 3 or 4 COMP Picks. With 10-11 picks...the Texans are getting a QB if that's their absolute need.
