The Actual and Real 2017 Texans Talk Mock Draft Extravaganza

I nominate TJ Logan, RB, North Carolina.
I nominate DeAngelo Henderson RB - Coastal Carolina.
I like Logan too, but feel that Henderson has a bit more upside. Played with a niggling foot injury this year but still managed some impressive stats and has been described as an electric return man. ST's - hello.
Scored in 35 straight games.

I'll go with Storm Norton. I want to double down at Tackle, and Norton is as good as any available.

I'd like to double down at tackle too, but don't know any of these guys left.

I liked Hood in 2015, but he really had the injury bug this past year and even postseason with a hamstring. Don't really know what I'm getting there.

Lets review Texans selections so far-

1. Deshaun Watson - QB, Clemson
2. Taylor Moton - OT, Western Michigan
3. Tyus Bowser - OLB, Houston
4. John Johnson, S/CB, Boston College
4. Elijah Lee - LB, Kansas State
5. D.J. Jones - DT, Mississippi
6. No Pick
7. ?

I think it behoove us to address RB. Between Hood (injury concerns) and Joe Williams? I would go with Joe. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-combine/0ap3000000797588/Joe-Williams-2017-Combine-Workout

Ok it's been 4 hours:

Logan - 1
Norton - 3
Henderson - 1
Hood - 3
Williams - 2

Need a tiebreak

OK, Storm Norton it is.

With pick #243 in the 2017 Texans Talk Mock Draft, the Houston Texans select:

Storm Norton - OT, Toledo

Oakland/Vegas Raiders are up next with pick# 244.

Kansas City selects Ifeadi Odenigbo - EDGE, Northwestern

Pass rush specialist who had the highest pressure rate in the Big Ten last year but who is very one-dimensional because of his weakness in run support. Good athlete who can get around the edge or bull rush inside but needs a lot of development to his overall game if he's ever going to be more than a sub-package rusher.

@Texansphan is on the clock for Dallas

Chiefs draft is done:

1) Tre'Davious White - CB, LSU
2) Anthony Walker - ILB, Northwestern
3) Wayne Gallman - RB, Clemson
3) Isaiah Ford - WR, Virginia Tech
4) Jessamen Dunker - OG, Tennessee State
5) C.J. Beathard - QB, Iowa
5) Joe Mathis - EDGE, Washington
6) Eric Saubert - TE, Drake
6) Delano Hill - S, Michigan
7) Ifeadi Odenigbo - EDGE, Northwestern

Goal was to fill some holes on defense while adding playmakers on offense. I think I did that as well as adding a backup QB and some depth on defense.

With their final pick in the TT Mock Draft Dallas Cowboys select Ejuan Price - LB Pittsburg
Last two seasons were badly hampered by injury but has elite playmaking ability.
Has a draft grade of 5.49 so is well worth a punt at this stage of the draft.

The Packers select Jeremiah Ledbetter - 3-4 DE, Arkansas

I really like De'Angelo Henderson, Elijah Hood, and Joe Williams, but with so many RBs I like on the board I have confidence we will land at least two after the draft.

Ledbetter is just a strong 3-4 DE prospect to land in 7th round

Packers draft is finished:

Marlon Humphrey - CB outside zone
Jourdan Lewis - CB slot
Elijah Qualls - NT
Adam Bisnowaty - Left guard/Right tackle zone
Jalen Reeves Maybin - Coverage LB
Robert Davis - WR
Corey Levin - guard zone
Jeremiah Ledbetter - 3/4 DE

Any RB we want as UFA

Bucs Draft

1. Christian McCaffrey RB- Stanford
2. Akello Witherspoon CB - Colorado
3. Derek Rivers DE - Youngstown St.
4. Chase Roullier C - Wyoming
5. DeDe Westbrook WR- Oklahoma
6. Victor Salako OT - Oklahoma St.
7. Brad Seaton - Villanova.

This draft for the Bucs did about what I wanted it to do. I found Weapons and protection for Winston and added much pass rush Rivers and a very underrated cover CB in Witherspoon who is fast and rangy. I like him as much as the Ohio St CB's and better than the Florida CB's.

McCaffrey is a TD waiting to happen either by air or ground with Winston at QB and you get the added benefit of a PR/KR. Bryan Westbrook would be my comparison to McCaffrey.

Rouiller is just what the Dr, ordered to help the OL. He's quick/strong and smart, he know how to play with leverage and is a leader. Roullier should be a 10 yr starter.

Westbrook is a steal, fast good hands he should fit like a glove with Jackson/Evans/Humphrey.

Salako was real good in pass pro and has a future in the NFL. (A depth piece, who I hope the Texans pick late in the draft.)

Seaton is a developmental guy with great measurable. It may take him some time to learn the speed of the NFL but he definitely has the talent to play in the NFL.

In short the Bucs got 5 guys that can contribute next yr and 2 developmental OL that are talented. The Bucs missed out on a safety that they really needed but couldn't pass up the talent that was on the board when they were picking.

I'm going to dinner and will post the Rams draft later when I get back.

Dylan Cole, DS #16 OLB, Missouri State would of been my pick for us.

In the 40-yard dash, he ran an unofficial time of 4.52 seconds. That would have ranked second among linebackers at the combine, behind only Jabrill Peppers of Michigan, at 4.46 seconds.

In the bench press, where players put up 225 pounds as many times as they can, Cole finished with 32 reps. The best at the combine was Michigan’s Ben Gedeon, with 27.

The vertical jump was the same story: Cole checked in at 39 inches, and the combine best was 37.5 inches, by Houston’s Tyus Bowser.

In the standing broad jump, Cole had a best of 10 feet, 5 inches. That would have tied for fifth at the combine – the best was Wisconsin’s T.J. Watt, at 10 feet, 8 inches.

To put Dylan Cole's numbers in perspective... Von Miller ran a 4.53 40 Ndamukong Suh did 32 bench reps Odell Beckham had a 38.5" vertical

Pittsburgh Steelers select Damien Mama - OG, USC

Massive interior player who punishes interior linemen in the run game. Below average athlete who will never be great in pass pro but his domination in the power run game is something the Steelers find very appealing as they love to run power. I actually thought he developed into USC's best OL by the end of the year.

Steelers draft is done:

1) Marcus Williams - FS, Utah
2) Tarell Basham - EDGE, Ohio
3) Bucky Hodges - TE, Virginia Tech
3) Shaquill Griffin - CB, Central Florida
4) Vince Biegel - LB, Wisconsin
5) Jerod Evans - QB, Virginia Tech
6) Josh Tupou - NT, Colorado
7) Damien Mama - OG, USC

Goal was to upgrade the secondary, linebackers, and give Ben some more weapons. I think the secondary is definitely upgraded. Same with LB. Never got around to getting Ben a WR or backup RB but did get a seam-stretching TE who has a ton of potential. Late round picks were to build up depth on the lines and take a shot at a project QB with a big arm.

The Atlanta Falcons select Freddie Stevenson - FB, Florida St.

This concludes the draft for Atlanta. Our final haul:

1) Jordan Willis - DE, Kansas St
2) Dorian Johnson - OG, Pittsburgh
3) DeMarcus Walker - DL, Florida St
4) Amara Darboh - WR, Michigan
5) Jadar Johnson - S, Clemson
7) Freddie Stevenson - FB, Florida St

The Falcons really needed to come out of this draft with some pass rushers to support Vic Beasley. We added an edge rusher with Willis and an interior rusher with Walker. We also picked up immediate starters at LG and FB. Darboh should work into the mix as the #3 WR and Johnson has potential to get into the rotation as a nickel safety.

Detroit Lions 2017 draft

Jabrill Peppers S
Raekwon McMillan LB
Kareem Hunt RB
Jj Dielman OL
Steven Taylor OLB
Jayon Brown OLB
Jon Toth Center
Travis Rudolph WR

Guess I got a thing for LBs

This looks like a Steelers type draft.

Detroit needs LB's badly, Love the Peppers/Hunt picks.

Missed out on CB's.

Can't have enough corners...

But the Lions pass defense was 4th in the league last year & they've got like 12 DBs on their roster, a bunch of them with less than 3 years in the league. I felt guilty taking Peppers, but he seems to be my favorite player this draft & I couldn't pass.

If there was a CB I liked better than McMillan in the 2nd I'd have taken him. Other than that I assumed they had enough DBs in the pipeline.

Man, a lot of good drafts so far, but this one is really solid. I think all those guys can be starters (not right away) all the way to Stevenson. Walker as a backup to Willis and Beasley is nice. I think Johnson is pretty solid, especially for a guy who didn't play a ton in college. I think Stevenson could start as a rookie as a FB, although not sure exactly how he fits into their new offense.

Really solid draft there.

Another very solid draft. I think Griffin could turn out to be a really good player, even though he didn't get a lot of experience in college. I like the little I've seen of Williams. Hodges will be a starter eventually, if not get a lot of PT early. Several solid front seven players.

Rams draft

Dan Feeney C-OG - Indiana
Chris Godwin WR - Penn St.
Alex Anzalone ILB Florida
Montae Nicholson S - Mich St.
Ishmael Zamora WR - Baylor
Jonathan Ford S - Auburn
Chad Williams WR- Grambling

I wanted one more interior OL for depth purposes, but felt the best way to go was to get weapons for Goff at WR and get 2 athletic S that should be good fits in Wade's defense. Ford can drop down and play some slot CB.

Feeney- He and Lamp are the best interior OL in this draft. Although I like Dorian Johnson a lot too. Feeney looked good at the C spot in Sr Bowl practices and fills a huge hole in the Rams OL. Gurley gets room to run with the additions of Whitworth and Feeney to the OL.

Godwin- One of the most athletic WR's in this draft. 6'1 4.42 with over a 40 inch vert. Runs good routes too, a steal at this point in the draft.

Anzalone- 1st rd talent who has hurt his shoulder and broken his arm. I took a chance in the 4th on him because of talent andhis injuries haven't been leg/foot/concussion related. Instinctive LB who can run and is good if he stays healthy.

Zamora- 6'3 220 Lbs WR with a 40 plus in vert and runs in the 4.4's. Zamora and Godwin provide size at WR in the Redzone that the Rams are currently lacking. Best football is ahead of him. Fell due to mistreatment of a dog. Again I don't care what players do in their personal lives only if they can play. Zamora can play.

Nicholson- Productive S who is a smart player who is versatile enough to play in the box or deep S. Very athletic, big S.

Ford- Lots of experience playing deep S and slot CB. Can really run. Both Nicholson/Ford immediately help ST's. I think Ford can be like Glover Quin. Nicholson can also for that matter. Ford is very fast.

Williams- Athletic, impressed me at the Sr. Bowl. 6'1 with over a 40 in vertical and ran under a 4.4 at pro day. This guy has great quickness out of his breaks and they used him a lot close to the goal line. Goff gets another redzone target.

Goff gets 3 WR's with size/speed that the current Rams Wr's are lacking. These WR's also help open up things for Gurley because any one of these WR's can takeit to the house anytime they touch the ball
Feeney- Smart guy, leader, can play anywhere on the OL and the offense should much better with Robinson moving to OG next to Whitworth with Feeney in the middle Goff should be well protected and Gurley should have a big yr.

On the defensive side of the ball Wade gets 2 S that are very athletic and a heady LB. The Rams will have a better defense with Donald in Wade's penetrating 3-4/5-2 defense.

Rams did well without a 1st rd pick. This franchise will ultimately go as far as Goff can take them.

Agreed.

Love Willis, that guy is going to be a star. There's not a lot of difference between Jonson/Feeney/Lamp. Johnson will be a huge upgrade over Chester. Walker just reminds me of the type of DT Quin used to have in Seattle.

Seattle draft:

1) Forrest Lamp - OL, Western Kentucky
2) Roderick Johnson - OT, Florida State
3) Curtis Samuel - RB/WR, Ohio State
3) Nathan Peterman - QB, Pittsburgh
3) Carlos Watkins - DT, Clemson
6) David Jones - S, Richmond
7) Marquez White - CB, FSU

My goal going in was to improve the offensive line, make it easier for Russell Wilson, and get a talented CB and DT prospect.

Lamp should start right away at RG, while Johnson is more of a 2018 play given that Joeckel was signed for tackle money. Samuel gives the team a fast weapon to work into the offense both as a receiver and potentially out of the backfield as well. Peterman was a bit of a luxury pick, but I do think Seattle could use a solid backup plan after Wilson had basically a full year of injury in 2016. I was surprised Watkins was available at the end of the 3rd, so I am happy that I was able to get that DT prospect. He fits what they need IMO. I didn't pick Jones, but he seems to be a nice prospect at this stage. White had some really solid play, especially early on in his college career, but was inconsistent and also ran slow. He fits the long, press style of Seattle, so he was worth a shot in the 7th round.

Only regret is that I didn't get a CB in that 3rd round.

Cant say there isn't a pick I don't like in this draft. Lots of great high motor guys throughout. Samuel might be as good as McCaffrey. Carroll gets his new Harvin that isn't a headcase.

Great job last night with these picks.

7 (252) Denver - Group pick
7 (253) Denver - Group pick

I guess the best way to finish this off is to nominate 2 players. Top 2 are the final picks.

I nominate Hunter Dimick - Edge, Utah and Brandon Wilson - DB/RB/KR, Houston.

I second Dimick.

For the other pick, I know they have already drafted an OT and an OG but they really need help on the OL. I think they should hit it again so I nominate Sam Tevi.

New Orleans Saints Final 2017 Draft ..

1.11 Rueben Foster - LB - Alabama
1.32 Quincy Wilson - CB - Florida
2.42 Zay Jones - WR - East Carolina
3.76 Davon Godchaux - DT - LSU
3.103 Howard Wilson - CB - Houston
6.196 Bryan Cox - DE - Florida
7.229 - Kyle Kalis - G - Michigan

Pretty happy with this draft. The Saints had to get better in the secondary and did just that. Getting Jones at pick 42 was one of my favorite picks. Brees will like this kid and he adds a weapon that was lost when Cooks bolted. The Dline got better and the Oline added a mean and nasty Guard that will help the running game. Shouldn't all O-linemen be mean and nasty?

The FO was looking to maybe add a QB as well but Peterman went at 102 and Dobbs at 195. Both right before the Saints picks. QB can wait though as Daniels was signed back. I don't think Grayson is the future there, nor Daniels.

I'm not as well versed in this stuff as most of you guys, but I always enjoy participating in these drafts. Thanks to all.

This would be a good draft for our Texans.

LB would be nice but I don't think that our LB corps is in as bad a shape as some do.

:coffee:

Lamp would be a very safe pick. Don't think Texans second biggest need is another tackle, or Seattle for that matter. Hate passing on elite talent @ a position because of "deep class" argument. Just don't like our group effort because of that (Texans need one) several better options than Kevin Johnson whom Texans used a higher first on. Also think if Peterman is Texans target they should take him in the second. Two Pitt QB's lol
