The Actual and Real 2017 Texans Talk Mock Draft Extravaganza

New Orleans Saints Final 2017 Draft ..

1.11 Rueben Foster - LB - Alabama
1.32 Quincy Wilson - CB - Florida
2.42 Zay Jones - WR - East Carolina
3.76 Davon Godchaux - DT - LSU
3.103 Howard Wilson - CB - Houston
6.196 Bryan Cox - DE - Florida
7.229 - Kyle Kalis - G - Michigan

Pretty happy with this draft. The Saints had to get better in the secondary and did just that. Getting Jones at pick 42 was one of my favorite picks. Brees will like this kid and he adds a weapon that was lost when Cooks bolted. The Dline got better and the Oline added a mean and nasty Guard that will help the running game. Shouldn't all O-linemen be mean and nasty?

The FO was looking to maybe add a QB as well but Peterman went at 102 and Dobbs at 195. Both right before the Saints picks. QB can wait though as Daniels was signed back. I don't think Grayson is the future there, nor Daniels.

I'm not as well versed in this stuff as most of you guys, but I always enjoy participating in these drafts. Thanks to all.

I like this draft alot.

With pick #252 the Denver Broncos select Hunter Dimick - OLB, Utah.

This one was unanimous. We just need to figure out Denver's final pick and this thing is a wrap.

I'll switch my vote from Tevi to Eric Wilson. Didn't realize he was still available.

Pats final draft. No pick in the first two rounds.

3. Gerald Everett, TE
3. Will Holden, T
4. Carrol Phillips, OLB
5. Connor Harris, ILB
5. Stevie Tu'ikolovatu, DT
6. Robert Tonyan, WR/TE
7. James Onwaulu, LB

Got a very athletic TE to add to the offense, an OT to develop and another weapon in Tonyan with size and fluidity.

Also added some young potential to the defense. Tu'ikolovatu isnt that young but he could be a nice player sooner rather than later. Talent is there.

If we are into the summarising your draft phase, here are the Jets moves:

1. Malik Hooker - Safety, Ohio State
2. Tim Williams - Edge, Alabama
3. Adam Shaheen - TE, Ashland Great Lakes

3. Nico Siragusa - OG, San Diego State
5. Josh Reynolds - WR, Texas A&M
6. Jeremy Cutrer - CB, Middle Tennessee State
7. Chad Kelly - QB, Mississippi

Really happy with the impact players I got in the draft.

Took some smaller school prospects who I think are underrated due to their level of competition.

With the Jets not ready to compete this year due to their muddled QB situation, I think these guys mature together to be a threat in the AFC East as the Patriots transition to post-Brady life.

Carolina Panthers 2017 NFL Mock Draft Results:

1.) Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan

2a.) Desmond King, DB, Iowa

2b.) Antonio Garcia, OT, Troy

3.) Jake Butt, TE, Michigan

4.) Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma

5.) Shelton Gibson, WR, West Virginia

6.) Ben Gedeon, LB, Michigan

7.) Treston Decoud, CB/S, Oregon St.

Overall I'm happy with the results however if I had to redo the mock I'd take one more OL and draft a RB earlier on (1st or 2nd round) and then add DBs, LB, and DE later. Plenty of defensive talent so essentially go offense early and finish off with defensive players.

Dallas Cowboys 2017 TT Mock results.
R1. Obi Melifonwu S (Group pick - personally would have gone Marlon Humphrey or Gareon Conley however OM has talent.)
R2. Chris Wormley DE
R3. Rasul Douglas CB
R4. George Kittle TE
R6. Jarron Jones DT
R7a. Kenny Golladay WR
R7b. Ejuan Price LB.
With this draft, the Boys have some nice talent to mold on their depleted D.
They also scored a potential future replacement for Jason Witten and a nice prospect at WR in Golladay who was a steal this low.
If they could take this draft on draft day I think they would gleefully accept it.

As the only player receiving 2 votes, the Denver Broncos select with the 253rd and final pick of the 2017 Texans Talk Mock Draft Mr. Mock Irrelevant:

Eric Wilson - LB, Cincinnati

usa_today_9652616.0.jpg

The Packers sign De'Angelo Henderson, Elijah Hood, and Joe Williams to undrafted free agent contracts. They will compete for 3 open RB roster spots with Christine Michael and Don Jackson.

San Francisco Niners Mock Draft Summary:

1) Solomon Thomas - DL, Stanford
2) DeShone Kizer - QB, Notre Dame
3) Ethan Pocic - OL, LSU
4a) Cooper Kupp - WR, Eastern Washington
4b) Josh Harvey-Clemons - OLB, Louisville
5a) Brian Hill - RB, Wyoming
5b) Aviante Collins - OL, TCU
6a) Xavier Woods - S, Louisiana Tech
6b) Josh Malone - WR, Tennessee
7) Nate Hairston - CB, Temple

I went into the draft trying to upgrade the athleticism and the ferocity of the defense, and find fits for the Shanahan West Coat offense with the Alex Gibbs zone blocking scheme. Thomas has the potential to become a Pro Bowl 3-Tech, Harvey-Clemons has the sideline to sideline speed to play the Will, and Woods and Hairston can develop into sub package DBs.

Kizer has the arm and mobility to run the entire WCO playbook, but needs to be coached from the ground up. Considering that the Niners are likely 3 years away from competing, Kizer is the Niners best fit at QB. Kupp should be a great fit for the Z receiver and Malone could develop into a dangerous X. Pocic and Collins have the agility profiles to become ZBS guards or tackles. Hill can run the outside or inside zone, with some coaching.

I wanted to get a CB in the 3rd, but the guys I was targeting went in the mid-2nd round run. The late 2nd round run on offensive linemen almost shut me out of everyone I was looking at. In a draft with trades, I likely would have moved off the #2 pick if possible to latter part of the top 10. I would have used those extra picks to move into the 2nd from the 3rd to take a CB.

Washington Skins Mock Draft Summary:

1) Dalvin Cook - RB, Florida State
2) Caleb Brantley -DT, Florida
3) Justin Evans - S, Texas A&M
4a) Cameron Sutton - CB, Tennessee
4b) Daeshon Hall - DE, Texas A&M
5) K.D. Cannon - WR, Baylor
6a) Sean Harlow - OL, Oregon State
6b) Javancy Jones - LB, Jackson State
7a) Jylan Ware - OT, Alabama State
7b) Harvey Langi - LB, BYU

I believe Washington is in a "win now" mode. If they can't get QB Kirk Cousins to sign a long term deal, they may have to trade him in the 2018 offseason. In this draft, I looked to improve the athleticism and speed of the defense, and find some explosive weapons for the offense. I think Cook's ability as a runner and receiver opens up the Skins offense. Cannon can provide the deep threat they lost in DeSean Jackson when in 4 wideout formations.

Brantley, Evans, Sutton, and Hall can provide immediate help in sub packages, while eventually becoming starters. I really think Brantley's ability to provide penetration and push up the middle will enhance the edge rushers' production.

Considered going QB in the first, due to the uncertainty of Cousins' contract. Instead, I committed to players in the early rounds that I felt would best help the team in 2017. In a draft with trades, I probably would have stood pat in the first 2 rounds, but would have gotten antsy in rounds 3 and 4 with the run on DBs. Feel fortunate to get Evans and Sutton where I did.

My favorite picks by round:

1 (10) Buffalo - @bah007 - Haason Reddick - LB, Temple - I believe Buffalo's best chance of winning is by becoming dominant on defense. Reddick would give them the impact defender that can make the players around him better.

2 (64) Carolina - @Texan4Ever - Antonio Garcia - OT, Troy - The Niners had the draft card filled out for pick# 66 when Carolina snatched Garcia two picks earlier. Garcia would help Carolina's largest weakness immediately. In 3 years, Garcia not going in the 1st round will look strange.

3 (80) Indianapolis - @jradMIT - Alvin Kamara - RB, Tennessee - I was questioning the Colts decision to bypass RB in the 2nd, and double down with another edge rusher. Picking up this guy in the 3rd made the move look genius.

4 (135) Pittsburgh - @WolverineFan - Vince Biegel - OLB, Wisconsin - This guy has been overshadowed in the draft process, and could be the best run defending SAM in the draft. Perfect for the Steelers.

5 (163) New England - @xtruroyaltyx - Connor Harris - ILB, Lindenwood - I'm excited to see what this guy can do in the NFL. Is he a ILB? A Will? A FB? A special teams ace? The answer to all may be "yes".

6 (204) Tampa Bay - @steelbtexan - Victor Salako - OT, Oklahoma State - Some guys don't look great or test great, but end up being able to get the job done. That's how I see Salako, a solid RT that could protect Winston for years.

7 (224) NY Jets - @kiwitexansfan - Chad Kelly - QB, Mississippi - Why not? My gut tells me Kelly would be the most talented QB on the roster. No reason not spend a 7th to find out if he can mature and become a NFL starting QB.

Colts Draft Summary:

1st - Takkarist McKinley Edge UNC
2nd- Charles Harris Edge Mizzou
3rd - Alvin Kamara RB Tenn
4th - Tedric Thompson S Colorado
4th - Blair Brown ILB Ohio
4th - Damontae Kazee CB, San Diego State
5th - Tanzel Smart DT, Tulane

Basically I wanted to beef up there D and add a RB at some point. Pass rush was the highest priority, wanted Derek Barnett but he was snatched right before so I had to settle on McKinley. In the 2nd I just couldn't pass up Harris, too good and explosive and being that the Colts pass rush is non existent I felt there is a place for him with McKinley. I was ecstatic to snag Kamara in the 3rd. Physically gifted as any RB in this draft will be a dangerous play maker on all three downs. With the three 4th round picks and the fifth, I tried to add players to the rest of the D who should be able to contribute right away. Thompson is a great cover safety and I just like Kazee's ball hawking ability. Honestly if the Colts can draft well this year they can make a decent jump back into contention. Three fourth round picks give them some options to plug alot of holes.

Cleveland Browns

I ended up taking over the Browns partway through the second round. Luckily, the 3 picks that were made prior to the change were likely the picks that I would have made.

1.1-Myles Garrett, EDGE, TAMU

1.12- Mitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina

2.33- OJ Howard, TE, Alabama

2.52- Budda Baker, S, Washington

3.65- Pat Elflein, C/G, Ohio State

4.108- Trey Hendrickson, EDGE, FAU

5.45- Ryan Switzer, WR, North Carolina

5.175- Nazair Jones, DE, North Carolina

5.181- Matt Milano, LB, Boston College

6.185- Channing Stribling, CB, Michigan

6.188- Aaron Jones, RB, UTEP

This could be painful on my phone so please bare with.

Eagles haul;

1 (14) Derek Barnett - DE, Tennessee.
Philly is switching to a 4-3 and need a RDE that can bend the edge & crash the QB. http://nfltraderumors.co/tennessee-de-derek-barnett-visiting-eagles-monday/
2 (43) - Chidobe Awuzie - CB, Colorado.
Real draft Barnett gone, Chidobe gone too by 2nd rd. Pick (mark that down) but this is a "mock draft". Very happy to get both.

Had something happen to me that nobody else in this years mock had to adjust for, a trade right before Eagles where ready to make selection (acquired Timmy Jernigan) https://www.google.com/amp/profootb...s-acquire-timmy-jernigan-from-the-ravens/amp/ sliding some twenty spots in third round. In the end it was worth it because one of the top backs was still on the board.
3 (99) Marlon Mack - RB, South Florida
Will have to carve out his own shady profile but talent and take it to the house mentality all there. RB is probably even a bigger need than it is for Texans.
4 (118) Jermaine Eluemunor - OL, Texas A&M
Fresh beef to aging and expensive OL. Versatile, probably compete for LG starting position. Brandon Brooks RG. Could also fill in either tackle position as needed.
4 (139) Jalen Myrick - CB, Minnesota
Speed in secondary & special teams, sub 4.3 is fast.
5 (155) - Kyle Fuller - C, Baylor
Like Corner, double dipping OL. In not to distant future, Fuller could be snapping (not as in Snapchat) the ball to Wentz.
6 (194) Philadelphia - Joshua Dobbs - QB, Tennessee
Value too good to resist. Always good idea to develop QB with high ceiling. At least need another camp arm.
7 (230) - Jonnu Smith - TE/FB, Florida International
Celick just took a 1 million dollar pay cut, writings on the wall but much love & support for him to continue career in Philly.

Thanks for stepping in. Switzer would really help ease Trubisky into the league.

Not even Eagles fans could throw a snowball at that draft. First 4 picks are all home runs IMO. And the last 4 not shabby either.

He was set to draft Kamara when the trade went down. Still came away with a good back.

Yes sir, and thank you so much for driving this texanstalk group mock draft, such persistence, knowledge and thoughtfulness, makes me feel proud just to play a small role. Again thank you!

Just watched taped path to the draft and two of the RB comparisons they made were on Kamara and Mack. Comparing Kamara to a younger version of Texans RB Lamar Miller, then Mack to Chicago rookie sensation & 5th rd. selection out of Indiana last year Jordan Howard (252 carries 1313 yards 6 TD's).

We cant thank you enough Lucky for making the 2017 TT Mock Draft a success. Wish I could hit the like button 1,000 times for you allowing the tradition to continue. Getting together with the regular TT draftniks is a highlight for me on this MB. I'm glad to see that we've appeared to have added some new really insightful mock drafters this yr.

Thanks

Steel B

You too Steel B :toast2:

For me the steal of the draft was Cooper Kupp in the 4th round by Lucky (San Fran). I so badly wanted to draft him for Chicago 2 spots behind SF. Kupp and JuJu Schuster Smith would have been a great tandem.

Is Chad Kelly in the 7th a realistic outcome? I feel like he's got too much upside and bloodlines to survive past the 5th round despite what many pundits are saying.

How bad is his wrist injury again? I don't know much about that one, just the ACL.

Chad Kelly reminds me a bit of Tajh Boyd in the sense that they were both QBs widely considered to be early favorites for first round picks that ended up sliding over the course of the season for various (and different, iirc) reasons.

He just had wrist surgery so he's going to miss rookie camp and OTA's. He's also coming off his 2nd torn ACL. Throw in the off the field questions and attitude concerns and it wouldn't be shocking to see him fall to the 7th.

Also wouldn't be shocking to see a QB desperate team grab him in the 4th.

I hope the Texans are that desperate team in the 5th.

IR him next yr see if he's willing to put in the work while on IR. If he is you have your franchise QB. If not move on to a loaded 2018 QB class. This is a win-win.

Sorry, @thunderkyss , your boy Peppers just failed his drug test. So many dummies out there.... It's one thing to be young and dumb and fail a surprise drug test they drop on you and you had no preparation for, but come on guys...

You have a DATE AND TIME and should be aware your financial future to the tune of MILLIONS OF DOLLARS rides on passing this test.

Idiots.

From Roto:

Michigan LB/S Jabrill Peppers failed his Combine drug test.

Peppers had a diluted sample, which counts as a failed test. It puts him in the same boat as Alabama ILB Reuben Foster, who also turned in a diluted sample. It's especially bad news for Peppers, as he was already swimming against the first round current. The college star lacks a clear position

I would still take Peppers at 25 if he was hanging around, would have picked him still for the Packers.

The diluted sample is bullshit. You are asking these guys to perform but punish them for over hydrating? They need a better test apparently. Even if he smokes pot doesn't change my opinion. He is an all-pro strong safety, this no position crap is smoke and mirrors. I would not be concerned about Fosters diluted sample either. I am concerned about him being a jackass and getting kicked out of the combine.

Caleb Brantley and Joe Mixon are much more concerning. My money is on neither one of them being in the league in 5 years.

Tennessee
1 (5) Jamal Adams - SS, LSU

5 (164) Ryan Glasgow - DT,
6 (214) Jake Eldrenkamp - OG, Washington
7 (236) Austin Carr - WR, Northwestern

Cincinnati
1 (9) Cam Robinson - OT/OG
2 (41) Jarrad Davis - LB, Florida
3 (73) Montravius Adams - DT, Auburn
4 (116) Julie'n Davenport - OT, Bucknell

What do his bloodlines matter to his draft grade?

That's fair and I respect your opinion. I'm much more in the camp that diluted samples are more likely from masking agents versus over hydration.

Mike mayock just mocked Watson to Texans at 25 in his official mock on NFL network . Good choice mayock. He's clearly in this forum under an alias

I was looking through last years. Took Andrew Billings in the first, he went 4-122. We may be sliiiiiightly off sometimes hahaha.

No we in that one. I wash my hands clean, I wanted Jarran Reed if we were going D-Line "steal of the draft" and was out voted.

That said, you are right, we might all be slightly off sometimes. I have definitely drafted UDFAs in this exercise in the past.

This draft is seriously difficult - you could make an argument for 50 or more that could rightly go in the first.

Where does Conley now go? And where would you grab him?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Seattle took Frank Clark when he had an assault charge pending. Conley was probably high on their board before. Maybe they take him in the 3rd?

Most teams rave about Conley's character. This will definitely take him off some boards.

But some team will trust him and take him. I'd say 3rd, maybe even the 2nd though.

Soon no more mock draft talk, woohoo. Let's get this show going
Ps- exception is some of y'all will instantly start mocking 2018, lol

We'll definitely mock the 2nd and 3rd rounds as soon as the 1st ends.

Only three have gotten their picks right so far and it only gets harder.

Garrett was pretty much a lock, Fornett least 50-50 much less than that for Barnett.
