The Actual and Real 2017 Texans Talk Mock Draft Extravaganza

I vote for this guy.

Teams win games, wasn't there a guy a while back who's greatest attribute was winning games? Those picks are a big turn off, not to mention his weaknesses (field vision) is not necessarily going to improve, throw in the slender frame, I'll take Mahomes and his rocket arm.

SAY NO TO MAHOMES!!

Watson is a winner. I don't care about Blue Chip prospect argument blah blah blah, dude wins games. When the game is on the line he throws the game winning TD.

Mahomes throws a 3 yard pass when running a 5 WR set when they need 10 yards for a first down.

The stats on paper look amazing, I can't argue, but they don't translate to wins.

Would any team Watson QB'd for have lost to 3 win Iowa State by 50+? No chance.

I saw he can throw 60 yards from his knees, reminds me of Jamarcus Russell.

Give me the winner. Someone else can take the stats.

Wow.

Mahomes made many, many throws over 3 yards. And on ropes. And through windows. And accurately.

And you don't know how good Watson would've looked without Gallman .. or Leggett .. or Scott .. or Williams .. etc, etc.

Or how good Mahomes would've looked with them .. or how much he'd have won with them and with the Clemson defense.

This argument isn't done honestly in a vacuum.

I completely agree, Clemson was stacked, his offensive line was great. Can someone try to explain away the picks? 3+ INT% is a huge red flag.

I think Mahomes is going to look like Case Keenum in his first year playing for us - he'll struggle early, but I think he has the most upside. I'm concerned that BOB doesn't have the patience or wherewithal to develop him. But being that there's a good chance that he doesn't see the field until the post BOB era, I vote Mahomes.

Yes but is O'Brian Mr. Holmes (reference to Dr. Watson)? Lol.
This coach with his QB carrousel ( highest starting turnover QB's in NFL since 2014) well, it's really hard to figure.

Lamp would greatly improve OL while Howard, if Texans do get decent QB, would be a superstar here.

I like Watson a lot and intriqued with Mahomes. But is either a Bill O' Brian kinda guy?

I think take BPA. Then trade back up to get Webb in second :clown:

Good question, I think Mahomes might be closer but the guy that screams OB guy in this draft is Kizer.

I think if only Trubisky is off the board, as it is here, we really need to take the QB we like.

There's way too much talent here to take one of these quarterbacks. I understand wanting one because it's been so long since we had a good one but that's no reason to pass up far superior Talent for one of these guys. I vote O J Howard.

Mahomes and it's not even close.

Give me a guy that has the ability to be another Favre/Stafford type any day and twice on Sunday.

Who does Watson remind y'all of? Me it's Tyrod Taylor or Fitzmagic.

Give me the QB with the most potential in this draft. Mahomes.

I will take on Oakland if y'all want me too.

on a complete side note, Giants might take one of these guys ahead of the Texans

per Rotoworld

The Giants are open to drafting Eli Manning's successor this year.

"I think we have to start thinking about it," co-owner John Mara said. "I think you always have to look at drafting a quarterback where you can." GM Jerry Reese attended UNC QB Mitch Trubisky's Pro Day, while coach Ben McAdoo has blamed the Giants' 2016 offensive woes on Manning. Quarterback won't be the most likely selection when the Giants are on the clock at No. 23, but they clearly aren't ruling it out. 2017 will be Manning's age-36 season

I just pray the actual Texans don't think like yall do. Mahomes would be the end of us. JJ will be retired by the time we recover from the Mahomes experiment.

Think whatever yall want, that's fine, just don't expect me to follow suit.

You guys enjoy Tim Couch 2 in your TT Mock, but if real Texans did this I would flip every single table in this city.

I like both QBs. I actually a OK with Kizer, as well. But Watson played the superior schedule. He has the highest floor. He oozes intangibles and could be the next Wilson or Prescott.

Howard makes any QBs life so much easier. I still believe we will end up with Romo. If so he needs legit weapons.

Come on now Watson could be the next Vince Young, all these guys are one step above shots in the dark, if you want to be conservative go with Howard.

Tim Couch at 25 makes sense to me. Tim Couch #1 overall doesn't.

You're not Mr. Watson Sr. by any chance?

Just can someone give a reasonable explanation of how he threw so many picks in a spread offense and why that won't be his undoing in the pros? Not trolling would like to know how that is not factoring in.

It's clear by the votes that a QB is going to be the pick here. So if you were a guy that chose anything other than a QB you might want to change your pick to the QB you prefer.

You don't have to, but that's an option to break this deadlock.
Ok its Mahomes then.

If this was the real draft I would totally dig taking Howard and then trading back into the 1st for Watson/Mahomes. As it is there are no trades and we only have one pick. I'll take the QB.

It's factored in. If he hadn't, he'd be top 10 IMO. He's said that he was pressing earlier this year because expectations were so high after them losing the championship game last year.

What he did do was fight through that and still deliver big drives.

In all honesty Peterman is my favourite but since it's a QB here I'll take Mahomes

And see, this is kind of the bugaboo about group pick.

If a clear strategy were proposed to go most immediate impact player available here and aim for Peterman rnd 2 I'd be all aboard that.

But we end up instead with a mishmash of strategies that amounts to no clear direction.

While that's true, an individual can come to the same conclusion that we have here, that we can't rely on Peterman being there in the late 2nd. I think the lack of trading is more a deterrent on strategy, but I wouldn't want to be in a mock with trading.

And with both these guys available, I think most would take a QB here.

Just for the hell of it so we get Romo today if so who would have been your pic then?

Me personally I'm still going QB. Romo is an answer for 1 year, maybe 2 max. That gives you time to develop your pick instead of throwing him right into the fire. Say we have Romo for 2 years, that gives you 2 years to develop the pick then 3 years to play him on a rookie contract.

All these quarterbacks are second round quarterbacks in my opinion including Peterman, so why not just take Peterman here? I mean if we're that desperate we have to draft a quarterback in the first round screw it take the one that's the best fit. In my opinion it's hands-down Peterman. But the same time and not haven't this drag on forever i vote Mahome's.

I think the Direction is clear. QB is the choice. If that was the vote it'd be like 9-3.

Everyone just wants an out so they can say I told you so cause QBs are polarizing when the QB they pick fails.

I don't. I need no outs. Watson 4 Life.

Doesn't matter though.

Tim Couch 2 is the choice it looks like. 7-5 is going to be tough to overcome.
