Playoffs...Divisional Round...New England Patriots!

I can see this as being the upset game of the decade. Texans have a defense that can get after Brady. Remember, we were devastated when JJ went down for the year during this game. Those boys lost their spark. Well, it's been found gain in JD. Them Pats is gonna be sorry they overlooked this defense.

As another member said, to lose won't be a disgrace so long as we play a good game.

I don't know who said that, or how many here have that mindset, but I just can't buy that loser mentality.

A 40 point loss is no different than a 1 point loss. You go home for either. The Texans battling and making a game of it will make no difference when it's all said and done. It will still be Texans can't beat the Patriots.

Moral victories are not victories. Go beat these bastards for a change.

sorry I said track record... but you know what I mean. You played us this year, against our 3rd string QB, and got dominated. Now we have Brady back.

I'm really looking for a reason this game could be close at all but I just can't find it. Like I said, your QB is bad, offense is overly conservative, and you can't stop us on defense enough to matter. This is one of the most historically lop sided match ups in playoff history.

Guys, dont let some some drunken dumbass living in his mom's basement posting in a cigarette burned bath robe that smells like tuna troll you. All he has to look forward to is the patriots and his wellfare check.

If they win he'll act like he was on the field. If they lose we'll never see him again because he wont have the knob to come back.

You do know this defense is much better than it was in week 3..

Why?

I know it's difficult, you see that shiny thing skip across the water... so pretty... so life like, but not.

& it's right there... doesn't even know you're there.

Hey now... some of them Southies are hard working criminals. They don't wait on welfare checks.

Tough schedule??
Only five teams on their schedule ended up with winning records.
SMH

And I never see you get this butt hurt over the Texans
:)

Butt hurt? Hardly. I just call obvious BS when it exists. You nor TK has posted anything contrary to what I said. Show me all these other teams that played these elite QB's every week. Other than the NFC East, I'm sure the majority of the league played a schedule similar to the Patriots or worse.

I've just been a member here for like 9 years. I think that speaks for itself. The history of the Texans has been mostly dreadful though, so naturally these types of arguments wouldn't have been accurate for them most of that time.

Why? Because it is.

As for the other stuff you posted....sorry, I'm at work and not at that level.

I'll let some people stew on this:

The last time I saw the Patriots look this good as a team and to be peaking this high at the end of the season like you want was the last time Brady won the MVP and he was the first person to ever win it unanimously. Patriots went 14-2 just like this year, and they were just blazing by everyone. That same year they lost their first game of the playoffs which was in the 2nd round since they had the bye and they lost at home to the Mark Sanchez led Jets. That was a similar team to what the Texans have now. Another interesting similarity about that season is that the Patriots blew out the Jets late in the year in a huge prime time game where they totally embarrassed Rex Ryan and the Jets. No one hardly gave the Jets a chance in that game especially after getting destroyed shortly before. I'm not saying any of this means anything, but it sure does have a lot of similarities involved.

Damn... I need you to get on a plane to Foxboro & give this same speech to the Texans just before the game.

I'm dead serious. Lol! I just started thinking deeply into this match up and one thing after another seemed exactly like the Jets match up. That was one of the biggest upsets in playoff history if you ask me, and this match up is being called one of the worst match ups in playoff history as well with one of the biggest spreads in history. :bigboss:

Are you ready for tomorrow night?

Once the Texans beat the Patriots we'll earn some respect.
I hope we're big underdogs at Pittsburgh or KC just the same.

We're going to inch closer to Super Bowl 51 at our house!

Maybe you forgot the 2014 season? Because the Patriots were stacked then and looked very dominant going into the SB against the Seahawks. We know how that one ended. While the Patriots enjoyed much success from 2007-2014, they hadn't won a SB since 2004 until 2014. 10 years. That 2014 SB took the monkey off their back and Brady has been playing very relaxed and lights out since then.

This Patriot team is different than the one you speak of when they lost against the Jets. That Jets team is also different than this Texans team. To say both had/have good defenses is just scratching at the surface. That's about where the similarities end. We all know the NFL is a game of match ups. The Jets historically have played the Patriots very tough, regardless of each team's record. They are division rivals. it comes down to how does each squad on each team this year match up against the other.

That's a good call.

One of our more astute Patriots beat reporters (Mike Reiss) picked up on this a week or two ago - as it happens, Brady and the Patriots are also VERY AWARE of the similarity of the situations.

You may have seen Brady imploring his team (and himself) to stay in the moment in the build up to this game - something they didn't do in 2010 - they looked past the Jets and they paid a huge price.

I think that game left a few scars on Brady.

I expect the Houston Texans to win tomorrow night and advance to the AFC Championship for the first time in franchise history. And I'd love to see them play at Pittsburgh for the AFC title if possible. Perhaps they can chase some ghosts and find some redemption for when the Houston Oilers were robbed a long time ago in the AFC Championship against the Steelers. Football has a funny way of going your way after years and years, decades and decades of futility. Ask Tampa Bay and New Orleans! This is Houston's year, the stars are aligned, Super Bowl 51 at NRG Stadium is waiting for us!

Look for Nuk to be double teamed by CB Logan Ryan and S Devin McCourty; and for shutdown CB Malcolm Butler to be in single coverage on Fuller. This was effectively used in this season's earlier game. If Oz tries to force the ball to these receivers, look for interceptions. But one thing that Oz does fairly well is to find his TE's.

Number one defense will dominate. Texans will pull it off by 2 points. Brady and Belichick will be so devastated about losing to wildcard, they will consider retirement.

I have a crazy idea... Change qbs every 2 possessions. Each QB we have has a completely different style and NE won't be gameplanning for all 3 QBs. This is the only way I see us scoring over 21 points.

In reality I just want to know what OB will do if we are down by 28 points at halftime... Does he pull Brock again? Or does he leave him in to burn which finally ends Brock's career in the NFL. I guess we will have to tune in to find out!
I like your thinking. I was thinking on this last night and I was thinking, 3 possessions without scoring and Savage goes in. Also, 2 possessions without a first down and he's yanked. I would keep all the QB's on a short leash and substitute frequently.

Brady is averaging 31 points at home and we have never beat Brady at Gillette Stadium.

There is one other advantage that we have this game over the earlier game and that is, Brown is back at LT.

But with Nuk and Fuller likely being blanketed by the Pat's excellent secondary, we need to successfully utilize our RB in the passing game. Miller is hurt, although he will be playing. Grimes needs to be in there.

I'm going to be not so football minded and say I feel there is an alignment in the stars for the Texans to continue.

First: We got to the playoffs on a missed kick by our former place kicker, Fat Randy
Second: Derek Carr breaks his leg is out for the last two games that makes them the 5th Seed and pushing KC down the road.
Third: Savage gets a concussion and forced to sit. (I don't think he would have won the Raiders game, he's a rookie), which forces brock to step in and step up.

There just feels like a vibe. JMO.

I am kind of disappointed in PatPatriot. I am trying to get riled up about it, but I just can't. I think we are all used to a higher level of smack talk from opposing fans, and this lackluster effort really isn't moving the needle.

I guess I just don't get it. PatsPatriot is just voicing what everyone in the USA pretty much believe, outside of Houston. Just look at the Vegas odds. I have absolutely no problem with this. It's a David against Goliath battle and everyone has their money on Goliath.

LOL This defense has no chance against the Pats offense..... none.

Sadly you're correct. 29th scoring offense in the league against the number one scoring defense in the league... We're screwed. I will root like hell for my Texans to upset, but this one is going to be frustrating as ****. Going to NE in January against Brady and Belichik is not a winning recipe.

I just don't see the point in telling us what we already know. Very few people in this thread are predicting a win.

David and Goliath, I like how that one turned out. :)

I think we all believe it too. Trying to tell ourselves we don't.

I'd call for heads rolling when it happens, but we know that ain't happening either.

The problem I have is that I do believe we have the talent to make a real fight of it, with the right game plan. But I have no confidence OB will have a winning game plan. I'm anticipating they will pretty much stick with what they've used all season, playing complimentary ball.

He's going to open up the super secret part of the playbook.......

Page 2!!!

I think our defense could hold up if our offense was half a sheyot. If i had confidence that brock could have shown me anytime this season that he could get hot and sling the rock. I would be excited. This Snuffleupagus offense sucks. Slow and unsteady doesn't beat a Brady offense.
Ill be rooting for the Texans don't get me wrong,

Marketing department of the Texans are some funny guys. Between this and their fanduel posts i am all for the Texans but they are posting stuff that i can't defend in a conversation..of course they will take CJ. But he isn't even winning in the size/weight category on these stats

Yeah, but smack talk is in the other forum.

Here, a visiting fan has to play a different game.

The late Harry Jr (Eagles fan) was great both here and in the smack talk forum. I have yet to see the equal.

In the meantime, PP has been weaker than Pippi Longstocking.
:swatter::ahhaha:

Jackass. What are you doing here so? The Pats don't have their forum? Are their fans are so insuportable that you have to come here and talk sh*t? Lol you must have a lot of free time, huh

Defense obviously can and has hung in over the season they have carried this offensive offense.. i guess you meant to say lol can the Texans offense has no chance against the Pats D..

No, he means the Pats cheerleaders can beat up our cheerleaders.

We need to attack and take some shots deep on first down.
The Patriots play a lot of zone coverage on first downs...

I'd hit their defense early with a 55-yard Brock Osweiler strike
If we come out and run early and often it plays right into their hands!

Let's come out to win! We need to change the gameplan.

Brock Osweiler is going to have his "Joe Flacco" moment in these playoffs. That year Flacco went on a Joe Montana like Super Bowl run. 11 TDs and 0 INTs in the 2012 playoffs on his way to winning the Super Bowl with the Ravens. I feel like Brock can play a lot like Flacco "at his best" when he's on his A-game. We see sparks of it. We need to see it all come together tomorrow night.
