The Actual And Real 2016 Texans' Talk Mock Draft Extravaganza

Pull your calculator out and figure it out.
Which was my point. I need context and was searching for the raw information so I could do the calculations. I need Catchable Ball TOTALS OR Catch RATE. I can do the math either way.

21 drops in 159 targets is a:

13.2% drop rate or an
86.8% catch rate

I can live with that.

Fair enough. I did my rankings based on fit for the Texans, and I have both Nick Martin and Austin Johnson ranked higher than either Fuller or Shepard. I'm sure I'm alone here and that's ok. The discussion is good
Both are players I like that probably won't make it to the next round. But I have them a little lower than you.

Last year 11 drops (Mike Evans - 148 targets) was tops in the NFL. Brandon Marshall (173 targets) and Tedd Ginn Jr (96 targets) were second with 10; LINK.

Fuller has 21 drops (of the 159 catchable passes) over the last 2 years; LINK

"There are two problems with Fuller, the first being the fact that he dropped 21 of the 159 catchable passes thrown his way between 2014 and 2015," Gordon McGuiness wrote. "The second is that many see him as a one-trick pony who can only really have success as a speedster on go routes. The thing is, he’s pretty good at that one trick, and his 4.32 40-yard dash time backs up the fact that he is one of the few receivers in this draft class who can burn defensive backs downfield." While the 6-foot, 186-pounder stands accused of being a one-dimensional body-catcher, he did lead college in deep-ball catch rate last year. Fuller caught an elite 17-of-29 targets thrown 20-plus yards downfield and turned those 17 touches into 10 touchdowns.
.

I'm not making this up. This isn't me giving him a raw deal. These are real stats. Right now he has at best questionable hands, in real games - not in shorts, and plenty of scouts are concerned about his route running. Two things we value on offense. No one denies that the kid is fast.

Thank you. That is the information I need.

Group pick for Texans has absolutely been amazing experience for me & glad you guys chose this pathway to increase discussion & let people's passion express itself.

I wasn't on Billings bandwagon (wanted Coleman or Fuller) in first, but can't tell you guys how many drafts I've coveted a true nose guard to really ramp up Texans 3-4 from Capers to Wade & now Crennel. So I'm flexible & would love this pick if it happens/available.

Bah shouldn't fret about Shepard as I really feel he will still be available in 2nd. Compared to Fuller he lacks the suddenness, catch radius & speed to seperate or take the top off, drawing safety help off Hopkins. This is key. But would upgrade in return game & fill in the #3 or #4 WR ( can Shorts stay healthy).

Long story short, so far, this is a dream draft for Texans. On too OL, TE & DE.

And the point of my comment was you had the raw data. The total catchable balls is receptions plus drops.

Fuller will have more more drops in the NFL because of a BIGGER Ball, more RPMs, more MPH and BIGGER, Stronger Faster DBs.

Did you just wake up from an allnighter?

With the 55th pick, the Cincinnati Bengals select ...

Austin Johnson, DT, Penn St

With the #56 pick the Seattle Seahawks select:

Kamalei Correa - OLB, Boise St

The SLB position in Pete Carroll's defense is very important. We need a guy that can rush the passer like a DE but handle the coverage and run responsibilities of a 43 SAM. With the loss of Bruce Irvin in FA we need to address this position in the draft. Correa is a productive but undersized pass rusher that fits fluidly into what we need out of this position.

Packers are up and I assume we are still group picking for Blake. I nominate Shilique Calhoun. They need a pass rusher and he's by far the top one left available.

Dammit

There goes my other guy.

The Packers need help at LB inside and outside.

I would sign off on Calhoun at OLB or Tyler Matakevich at ILB.

*EDIT*
He just went off the board, disregard. Put me down for Calhoun.

Reading around, it looks like ILB, TE, and Edge rusher were their big needs. They signed Jared Cook as a FA and we mocked Cody Whitehair, OG, to them in the first. What about a guy like Kamalei Correa to play OLB and rush the passer? Seems like a Capers type of OLB.

Kamalei Correa

Analysis
Strengths
Well-built and twitched up. Has see ball, get ball traits to work with. Rarely fooled by backside bootlegs or reverses. Unleashed his impressive long speed and pursuit motor to run down a Utah State running back 51 yards down the field. Tackle finisher when he launches into target. Logged 19 sacks and five forced fumbles over last two seasons. As pass rusher, has explosion potential to create some edge panic with NFL coaching. Has second gear to chase from sideline to sideline.
Weaknesses
Seems to be more focused on getting out of the blocks quickly rather than gaining ground upfield as a rusher. Hand usage is inconsistent and unrefined. Doesn't use hands as weapons of victory often enough at the top of his rush. As NFL edge player, will have to play with more jolt and power in his punch. Play strength is just average. Lacks feel for down blocks and cracks and can be pinned down too easily. Will come flying to the ball at full speed and overrun the tackle.
Sources Tell Us
"I wanted to see more this year. It's frustrating watching him because you can see the potential, but he just doesn't unlock it as much as he should. Against that schedule he should have been more productive." -- NFC North scout

Bottom Line
Correa will likely transition into a full-time 3-4 outside linebacker as a pro. While he doesn't have as much play strength as expected and is still raw as a pass rusher, NFL teams will be attracted by his quick-twitch athleticism and moldable traits as a pass rusher. The tape says Day 3 of the draft, but the upside could get him called earlier. He might require patience as there is still work to be done for Correa.

We gave them Jarran Reed in the first. And while Correa would be a good pick here, my Seahawks just nabbed him off the board. :cowboy1:

With the #58 pick the Pittsburg Steelers select: Bronson Kaufusi - DE, Brigham Young University

We had Austin Johnson sitting pretty until mollywhopper whopped us and got him first. We'll gladly take Kaufusi here.

Look out Red Rifle, Kaufusi is gonna go all JJ Watt on you and turn you into a Red Rider twice a year.

I like how you snuck this in there. Real sneaky.

Minnesota has now added Doctson and Shepard in the first two rounds to help out their young QB. Nice job.

Really? Back to Back WRs on a run heavy team? I didn't realize that had happened. I don't know...

They are a run heavy team because they have Adrian Peterson, a young QB, and one weapon at WR. By adding more talent outside they could be way more balanced on offense. I don't know that they'll change their philosophy but this would make them harder to defend.

Their best WR is a 22 year old that was a 5th round pick last year and averaged less than 14 yards per reception.

We said the same stuff about the best WR being Charles Johnson heading into last year too. Now he's just a dead corpse apparently to everyone you talk to about that offense.

It's all good tho, to everyone their own. The real draft will be fun to compare to ours.

Isn't that more reason to make upgrading the position a priority?

Exactly and not to mention AD is getting up there in age. Throw In an already top 10 defense now you have guys that can take some pressure of Peterson. This really balances out their offense. Yes there is still work to do on the OL. They need to get better at pass blocking but having more offensive weapons will help some and there wasn't exactly anyone available that was going to come In and start right away and make a difference there so give the young QB options and let them all grow together.

Other than Diggs Bridgewater really didn't have anyone who could get open or make a big play in the passing game. Now teams can't load the box which means more chances for Peterson to make big plays.

I think AD helps that defense more than anything. Having a back keep their offense on the field is what helps. I'm not a big Teddy B fan, though, so my opinion is biased. I don't think it matters what WRs you put around Teddy, I think he will be an Alex Smith type game manager. Mike Wallace was a 1000 yd receiver with a QB that had the arm and took chances and has since had to play with Tannehill and had even worse numbers with Bridgewater. Has Mike Wallace just become completely worthless? I don't think so, and I think his numbers will improve with another big armed QB that will take chances in Flacco.
