Louis Nix

Did anyone him expect to unseat wilfork
no but most did expect him to make 53. I followed Nix for two years in college and could not believe our luck in getting him in round three. I did think he played pretty well last night but obviously not enough. I think he stepped in poo when Coach thought he should be in Houston instead of Florida.

Now Strong in third is my next concern

I pointed this out at BRB but if you follow him on Twitter you can tell he is not matured and still living the good ol college days. Giant 350lb marshmallow.

Normally I'm not a big one for "You're not a real fan" comments but I have to admit, it's a wonder you have time to get in a little Texans love while maintaining your list of future "I told you so's".

It might lead someone to believe that it's your primary focus here. If so then I guess you're getting your entertainment in your own way. The Houston Texans are nothing if not entertaining.

Before Nix was drafted I said he wasn't very good. I said the Alabama game tells you all you need to know about Nix. When the Texans gave up a 4th and 5th RD picks to move up in the 3rd RD I said it was a BIG mistake. Now that Nix has been cut because he's not good enough, what would you like me to say? How exactly do you want me to behave? Even though what I said was 100% right, in order for me to be a good fan that meets with your approval, I should forgive and forget?

Seriously?

It might be nice if you sounded a little more disappointed in Nix not working out and a little less pleased with yourself about being right but hey, you get your enjoyment out of this whole thing in whatever fashion suits you.

They took a shot at getting a guy and it didn't work out. Most don't but in a world where most draft picks never become what the team hoped they would you act like you're The Great Karnak for thinking the move wouldn't pan out. Congrstulations. I'm glad that someone's happy that the Texans made a mistake.

It's like listening to the "Rick Smith Must Go" broken record people. He's made good moves and he's made lousy moves. He's not the best GM in the game and he's not the worst. the people who hate him though take more pleasure in his mistakes than they do in Texans successes. That's you. That's what you sound like. Must be fun at times like these.

What was that guys name?

Shane Cardan, Sean Carden, something like that. None of us are 100% all the time.

If Clowney doesn't become a star, the 2014 draft is looming as a disaster . Sad.

I was among those who wasn't completely giddy about the Nix move up and selection. Not that I thought he would bust. Just that I never saw the 1st round talent that was trumpeted. I'm not happy this happened. But it should be a lesson in regards to telling other fans that they don't know what they're looking at. We're all just fans and no one is infallible.

C'mon kyss your better than that. Yes I liked Carden early in the season but as you know by season's end not so much. You don't find him in my final mock.

Not much different here. OB/RAC liked Louis Nix early in the process. But after adding Wifork & most likely Covington, not so much. You don't find him on our 53.

I wish I could be more disappointed but I knew before he was drafted that he wasn't NFL material just like I knew that Mantai Teo was NOT a 1st RD pick.

I have been preaching since 2012 that until the Texans improved their front office including the entire player personnel departments and get to a point that can produce, on a consistent basis, above average drafts instead of below avg drafts, stop the year after year of being salary cap hell, stop signing bad contracts and be in a position to be more productive in free agency, that you can expect MORE OF SAME, a continuation of Bob McNair's .423 hell. Nothing has changed, it may be worse.

It still doesn't answer the main question of what you and SteelB can't get through your heads. Are you both so naive to actually think that your broken record **** is going to change anything?

Where do you get that I'm naïve? As long as McNair is making $$$$ not much will change. Anybody thinking anything differently is being truly naïve.

No, the question is why are you so naive to think that your broken record **** will change anything?

Loving that .500 record?

Pathetic

Well you always have other options...

1) Make a billion dollars
2) buy your own team
3) Run it your way
4) Championship (obviously)

I really don't like taking shots at people but your spiel is just so worn out. Do I agree with everything the Texans do, no. Do I scream at the TV and say that was a bonehead move? Yes I do. But come on guy your to the point where nothing you say has any meaning because you hate everything.

If Bob gave you a million dollars "Bob, a million dollars? You're a millionaire Bob and this is the best you could do. Screw you Bob"

If Rick saved you from choking "Rick you gave me the heimlich? That is a rookie move Rick. Newsome would have found an innovative way to dislodge food. You suck."

At some point you need to temper your angst so people may listen to what you say.

I'm just not understanding your reality. Al the evidence shows that it's not easy to start an NFL franchise. Look at the last three before us, Carolina, Jacksonville, & Cleveland. Sure, Carolina & Jacksonville had a lot of success early in their existence, but they also started with certain advantages we didn't have. Once those ran out, not very successful.

We started the first four years losing. McNair brought Kublai in & put an end to that. Hopefully now we can get into the winning stage.

Nope. It's less than one extra win per year.

You'd still be pissing and moaning just as vociferously about 3-13 after an "illusory" 13-3.

Glad to know you can look into the future and know exactly how people will think. I think you need to start a new career outside of jurisprudence.

ST. I think it would save you some typing if you just put a sig in saying The Texans will suck as long as the sucky Rick Smith is playing GM while making McNair millions :D

It is a Win-Win scenario. You still get your feelings known and saves you some typing plus it lets you start discussing a more range of topics :D

No angst here.

I'm to the point that I just LOL.

Fact is

1. The Texans make a lot of $$$$ and for that reason things are unlikely to change.
2. The Texans are an avg team that will remain that way because they don't put the best product on the field as possible.
3. I realize the Texans aren't my team they're McNair's and I have no impact on how they do business.

Will you please allow me to point out the ineptness in the draft that the Texans continue to produce. Or do you want me to rah-rah and pretend that the Texans are a great org? Look I' not the one who passed on Bridgewater/Garappolo and traded up for Nix. (I liked the Nix pick at the time)

Brilliant, thanks for saving me time.

Do you think on cut down day it might be possible to discuss the successes (K Jo) and failures (Nix) in the roster composition?

Then why post, LOL? You are clearly flustered.

Not flustered at all,

Enjoying a day at the beach and the glorius opening Saturday of college football season. The only reason I got on the MB today was to see the reactions when James got cut.

Agree. As long as McNair continues to do his best Jerry Jones impression things will continue to be the same. The one common denominator with Capers, Casserly, Kubiak, Smith, O'Brien is McNair. There is no doubt that McNair wants to WIN and win very badly, the problem is he doesn't know how. His plan doesn't work.

It will not matter who the Owner, GM, Coach, Star player is to certain people, they will always hate the team they root for. They're wired that way

Because Bud Adams earned your respect and was less concerned with the bottom line than McNair?

Nope

I loved them for the same reason that I love the Texans, they're the hometown team.

I was hoping that the McNair's would be different kinds of owners than Bud was. Tailgaiting was a start, but it is beginning to look like Bud and Bob have a lot in common. They were good friends and Bob considered Bud a mentor. Atleast that's what McNair said after Bud's funeral.

I stand by my eval of Nix in college and specifically that Bama game. Imo, the problem is that he DIDNT play like he did in college.

i think the injury and perhaps his motivation didn't allow him to progress as much as the coaches liked. I do not believe that he was not a good player.

How does anyone have fun grinding an axe that long?

As long as McNair continues to make the same boneheaded mistakes year after year, it's just as easy to call attention to those mistakes, year after year. And it looks like Swearinger, Nix are this year's SNAFU with the strong possibility of Clowney and XSF joining that list.

....asks the guy with the Civil War avatar...
:D

Texians were pre 1845 (well before the Civil War), The Republic of Texas of which my 3rd, 4th and 5th Great Grandparents belonged. (I'm a 7th Generation Texan, the Texian name is in honor of my great grandparents and The Republic of Texas)
