The Johnny "Football" Manziel NFL thread

Might want to hold off on the "money" dance when you're losing. :roast:

I'm pretty sure he is contractually obligated to do his patent-pending "money dance" according to his trademarked brand.

Johnny Football does not have a choice because of Johnny Corporate Product.

lmao.................msr

Love him or hate him, if he starts this week we should all be rooting for him and his team to beat the Dolts.

"Who gives us the best chance to win this weekend? Period,'' said Pettine.

Playing the Colts, who are 29th in yards per rush attempt.

Only thing holding him back for me is if they have to start their 3rd string C.

Browns do not take this opportunity to start the "Money Sign" Manziel era...

Owner to fire HC soon [IMGwidthsize=14]http://www.texanstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/cat.gif[/IMG]

I really think they're gonna ride Hoyer out this year and then let him walk.

No matter what happens this year I see Manziel as the starting QB week 1 next year.

I wonder how much rope they give Hoyer Sunday.

May have been the right thing to do, but the media storm has been stirred up again and it won't stop until "Money Sign" starts. Horse is out of the barn, imo.

I don't think their situation is much different than the one O'Brien faced here.

Hoyer is obviously the better QB at this point in time, so as long as you have a shot at the playoffs he's going to play.

The second that isn't a possibility, they need to go to Manziel so he can get his feet wet.

They could win out and make the playoffs with Hoyer and I still think they would let him walk after the season. So the more experience Manziel can get the better.

ProFootballTalk is reporting that Manziel went to a Cavs game last Tuesday night when the Browns had an off day. The coaching staff had already privately decided to start Brian Hoyer, but had not yet told either player as they wanted to see how Manziel would handle potentially starting his 1st NFL game as there was a ton of momentum outside the locker room that the switch was finally going to be made.

Instead of preparing at home for his possible start by studying the playbook or watching film, Manziel was court side at the Cavs game. When the staff found out Wednesday morning it only enforced the idea that they should go with Hoyer and that Manziel is just not mature enough yet to be the starting QB.

I don't have a problem with him going to a game on his day off. It's your day off do what you want. But in the midst of a QB controversy is probably not the best time. Especially when the main criticism against you is that you don't know the full playbook yet and are presumably not willing to take time out of your social life to put 100% time into football.

I was not watching football when Joe Namath was making headlines, so I have nothing but hearsay & media spin to go by, but it was my understanding that he was often seen out on the town before play-off games.

Still... how much of the play book does he not know? Did he look unprepared when he was thrown into the game the other day? I know what that one player said about having to correct him in the huddle, but how did he look? To your eyes.

How late did he stay at the game? Did he leave early to put in a few more hours of study after taking a break from studying all day?

If he's not ready, it would be nice for Pettine to put the question to bed, "We love Johnny, we think his future in the NFL, with the Cleveland Browns is bright. But at this point in time, he's just not as ready as Hoyer is."

Then Hoyer puts up a stinker & you'll know all you need to know.

I kept wincing at Hoyer's inaccuracy during their game with Indy. I kinda flipped back and forth between our game and theirs (ours wasn't in question after we pulled away, theirs was heating up at that time) and Hoyer whiffed on several balls that should and would have been TDs to the house.

Manziel kills it on the deep ball. The guy just drops it in the bucket. If he put in the work he'd be starting because Hoyer is a mediocre QB. Manziel is more talented than him, but he needs to learn that he can't "talent" his way through football anymore like he did in high school and college.

He's already said that with his actions.

His actions tell me he's concerned with riding with the horse that got him here. If they weren't 7-6, if they were below .500, I doubt they let Hoyer "work" his way out of this "slump"

Interesting.

I thought for sure they'd go to Manziel this week. I imagine the owner is close to making that call, himself.

Per La Canfora, looks like we may see the beginning of the Manziel era in Cleveland this weekend.

"According to Yahoo’s Jason La Confora, the decision on who to start at quarterback for the Browns on Sunday has already been made.

Confora is typically pretty reliable, but when coupled with some of Browns Head Coach Mike Pettine’s comments at today’s press conference, it gets a little more solid.

Pettine said he would have pulled Hoyer Sunday of the Browns had been trailing."

Marvin Lewis mocks Johnny Manziel, quickly apologizes

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000441113/article/bengals-marvin-lewis-mocks-johnny-manziel?campaign=Twitter_atn

Opposing coach Marvin Lewis couldn't have been more dismissive when asked by WLW-AM in Cincinnati Monday night about the possibility of facing Manziel this week.

"You've got to go defend the offense," Lewis said. "You don't defend the player."

After a short pause, Lewis then added: "Particularly a midget."

:spit: not real smart, but very funny :spit:

Well . . . He IS a midget.

And if that offends anyone that's under 6 ft tall . . . Oh well! :kitten:

He probably wouldn't. But they are what they are and he's doing what he's doing.

Ha. Are you tall too? I'm 6'5" and she's 5'2".

I'm also goofy lookin and she's hawt. Go figure

If you were 5'9 and goofy looking she would have never known you existed. Height does wonders.

Anyways, I saw this on facebook...

Marvin Lewis started coaching the Bengals when Manziel was 9 years old and he hasn't won a playoff game yet.

Ouch :bender:

I'm excited to see Johnny play.

I think the odds of him being wildly successful are slim. It could happen & if it does, it's going to happen in a big way.

But I'm not worried about that. The kid is fun to watch, bottom line.

Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses

They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet

It was interesting that Ted Johnson on 610 related that during the last Browns game, he clearly observed (lip reading) Manziel on the sidelines saying "I would have made that" several times when Hoyer did not connect. True class.

So you are not allowed to talk to yourself on the sideline?

So hearsay is when someone repeats something that was told to them.

What's it called when a radio guy imagines something he "lip-read"?

Seriously?

Of course folks are "allowed" to talk on the sidelines but you're a dumbass if you're talking smack about your own team.

OK - this just seems like bitching about nada. You want / expect your QB to be a really competitive mofo. Unless he's yelling this out so that 20+ guys can't help but overhear it's one thing. If it's just Teddy trying to garner attention to a non-issue, it's different.

If you're not at least thinking this sort of stuff aloud when you're watching another guy play your position poorly, then I doubt you're competitive enough for the NFL. I just don't see this as "smack".
