Houston Texans @ Oakland Raiders. 9/14. 3:25. CBS. **Official Gameday Thread**

This year the 2 wins were convincing. Last year we needed two comebacks.

That's exactly right!! IIRC both wins last year involved OT, no? Chargers on the road, Tinnbreds here at home....... These two wins this season are much more impressive!

Glad nobody got hurt while Oakland was whacking their pud with time running out.

Good experience for our backups, especially the DBs. Normally, I'd be irritated with a team for dragging the game out like that when it's clearly already over. But with a rookie QB playing in only his second game I get it.

Definitely agree about dodging the injury bug though. The onside kick was bush league.

It's nice to be 2-0. The team is playing well. And so what if it's against crappy competition? The Texas are at least proving they are not bottom feeders anymore. And we're gonna be 3-0 a week from now.

What a timing to over sleep the game. I'd missed JJ Watt's TD! Damn, my alarm clock!

For maybe the first time, the Texans have a pro quality defense. It's my kind of defense: they make you execute lots of short yardage plays sequentially to move the ball downfield, but don't give up the big play. They don't gamble till you get to the red zone.

I don't give a **** what they would say. If they said that, it would be contrary to real life.

The Wade defense was very good, but too aggressive for the elite QBs to not pick apart. Crennel's defense is much better for that kind of thing, but may not get as many big plays.

That's fine, I don't care.

To say that the Texans "finally" have a pro defense is asinine and wholly inaccurate.

I will wait until we're facing Brady/Rodgers before making the comparison.

I agree with both you and Matrix, but not the suggestion that this is the first time we've had a pro quality defense (sorry, Seegara)

I liked our defense early when the DBs were jumping routes & making plays on the ball. But when we started to see more of Darryl Morris & Bouye looked like we went back to letting them catch the ball in front of them...

But it definitely looks like we've been working on specific things from last week. The run blocking looked much better, still have room for improvement but better than last week.& like I said the secondary looked better to start the game.

Well, what do you really think, Charles? RT @VicTafur: Charles Woodson: “We’re not very good … We suck. I am embarrassed.” #Raiders

That's funny! :littlelol:

Well, Bouye is a starter now, playing opposite of J-Jo, while Kareem is in the slot. So, it's not like Bouye just started letting them catch the ball until we were in prevent D. In fact, Bouye played a damn solid game, this week AND last week.

I'm still fuming over that BS PI call against Bouye that set the Raiders up for their first score. Talk about a picture perfect pass defended, which was actually a highlight reel moment on any other planet besides the ones these refs were living on.

Yeah, I'm big on AJ Bouye. I have been since we got him. That's not to sat he's an all-pro yet , or he won't get burned, but in his 2nd year - his first year as a starter - he already better than KJ was his 2nd year. Good value.

it was just the Raiders.

Jason Campbell (not Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, etc...) led the Raiders team into Reliant Stadium and beat the playoff bound Texans in 2011 (before Schaub was injured). It was just the Raiders.

Never underestimate the Raiders!!!!

Bouye is a starter inasmuch as the nickle corner is "basically " a starter. Kj is still the starter opposite Jjo. I'm also not seeing Bouye as an improvement over Harris. Aj's been good for a PI & he gets beat quite often. Objectively it's been a wash.

Sweet victory. It looks like it's only going to get better next week. Eli's handing out free footballs again. He's got 2 picks & 2 sacks in each of his first two games. The defense must be  already.

Have we beaten the Giants before? They still scare me cause it seems like they always figure it out against us. 2010 game against the Giants I left at halftime it was so embarrassing.

Yes. In 2002 the Texans won 16-14 over NYG.

haha It wasn't in my memory. It just took me a second to find out.. I knew they've only played three times (2002, 2006 & 2010), so it didn't take long at all to find out.

Still did a service to those like me who are too lazy to google things.
