Johnathan Joseph a TEXAN! (Cut March 11, 2020)

I watched every single Miami Dolphins game for the last 5 years as I live in Florida.

Jason Allen is not good.

OK thats fine, But look at our boy J. Babin sometimes a change of view can make a player better, if we go off of how Allen played last season he needs to be considered our #2 CB. We can let K. Jac be but we better get some better safties first, otherwise who will fix his mess up when he gets BURNED more just as he did last season.

Let's not all fall in love with Jason Allen after a portion of a season. A certain Mr Bennet Mr Demps and Mr Pollard come to mind...

Yea, Kareem Jackson. His upside is 10 times higher than Allen.

Possibly, but his confidence is shaken. He needs to be put in a situation where he will do well and get that swagger back. Nickel is the best place for him to do just that. Then when he is ready he slides into the #2 CB spot and Quinn slides into Nickel. Next year Harrison slides into Nickel full time.

According to Rotoworld

Robinson got 6 years $57, $25.5 guaranteed, $7 signing bonus

Joseph got 5 years $48.75, $23.5 guaranteed, $12.5 signing bonus

DROB isn't nearly as good as Joseph imo. I'm glad he's gone and Joseph is here. After watching that youtube link, I really want a trade to get Hall.

well I'm back and well rested.

we didn't get some ASO but in the long run this might be a better deal, allows us to get a quality safety instead of settling for the cowgirl from dallas.

Joseph is a very good player and a HUGE upgrade for us, I'm really likely the way the FO went about this.
From reports they said they tried to wait for some ASO but didn't want to waste time so they pulled the trigger on joseph which surely means we have other plans for FA agency

I'm sure they are serious about moving Quin to safety.

The other corner is going to be KJac, Allen, Harris, or another player yet to be signed, like Brandon Carr.

I would agree in a normal off-season but to move a player in the NFL to a brand position with only 4 weeks to learn is...................OK is something that the Texans are know for.

he did good for us last season. I think if we go off of what they have done in the NFL, Allen wins over K. Jackson

With Dunta Robinson being the best example of a cornerback for so long, I can understand why we have a hard time distinguishing good Corner-play from bad.

But Allen was just as inconsistent as KJac. He's a 5 year vet. I understand he came in in the middle of the season, if his mistakes were of the, "he was expecting Safety help there" I can understAnd. But they weren't.

I'll give him credit, he's got better ball skills.

But if it were me, it would be open competition.

I'm still excited about Joseph on the Texans

Glover was on the radio the other day and he flat out said that the coaches have locked him in at safety.

it should be open competition. I never claimed he was beaten because of no safety hely, that was 76 talking about K. Jac. Only play i remember Allen really getting beat is against the ravens for a TD.

I'll definitely agree with that. He needs to make some plays to regain confidence. But at corner, it takes 1 quarter to get your swagger back. He just needs some direction.

Look, K Jax was in his first year in the NFL and received zero valuable coaching or direction. He was put in a terrrrrible position. Give him a chance to learn the position with GOOD coaching.

Allen was coached by Nick Saban, a defensive genius, and failed in two positions.

We haven't had one single corner on this team who could hold a candle to Chris Dishman.

***Edit*** Glenn. Sorry.

Just curious what do you based this on? Kubiak has said that he was happy that KJ did not appear to be shakened after the season. I mean he should be shell shiocked but I've seen nothing to support that.

We dont know what the coaches did our did not teach our defensive players. Switching between 2 different positions cant be easy, let him remain CB. And i gurantee he can be a good CB.

you'll See

So, if he is better as a backup FS, who do you see playing opposite JJ, Jackson?

I really like Quin at Safety. I really like Joseph as a veteran cover corner. Starting a second round pick like Harris in that defense wouldn't be unheard of. Starting a first round pick like Jackson wouldn't be unheard of.

Letting them battle for the spot with Allen makes the most since, other than signing Carr, Clements, or Grimes.

Well said that man. Pretty sure Eugene Wilson did a similar trick as well.

Joseph and Jason Allen the starters. Brandon Harris, Kareem Jackson and Roc Carmichael backing up or in nickel...Glover Quin and Danieal Manning the safeties...I can definitely handle this!! :thisbig:

If Manning is signed the Texans will have added what the backend of the defense what has been lacking sense the Texans inception.

SPEED

Confidence shaken?

He was stronger at the end of the year than early, jusT like you would expect from a rookie

Meh, but still he did not have a good season and he's had awhile to think about that.

I agree with doppel, I just think it wont take long for him to start building confidence.

So the plan was to let DRob go, tank a season, get better draft picks, better DC, and a top tier free agent?

Well Played.

If it was down to confidence alone then this would make a lot of sense.

Unfortunately it may take longer for our new coaches to beat some NFL caliber coaching into the lad before he's able to get on the field and not mess it all up. JMO

Sounds like a plan to me. LOL
Too bad we couldn't get Cowher for a HC and Parcells for a GM in the process.

Joseph is a solid starter entering his prime. While he is not the Andre Johnson of DBs, he does give us hope to make another splash.

Next order of business should be paying the best FB in the NFL. Then looking for a starting safety.

Personal use. Just a bag on him...not Nate Newton size bag, normal size.
That would get you a ticket. Of course, you'd lose the weed like da man used to take my beer and make me pour it out when I was kid. Damn that pissed me off.

Like duh, its called strategery......

I called every last detail of this when Dunta was leaving in a Dunta thread, feel free to look it up.
