Death to Google Ads! Texans Talk Tip Jar! 🍺😎👍
Thanks for your support!
One could say that OB abd Devlin actively worked to make the OL worse by demanding that their STARTERS be versatile as rookies. I want my swing interior linemen to be able to play all 3 positions. I want my swing tackle to be competent at both tackle positions. I want my starters to be experts at their respective positions.Hard to believe Gaine was on the way of our growth.
Gaine has done nothing but try to address the TE and O-line situation. 2 Positions BOB has failed to develop talent at.

At least then it is clear, BOB picks bad people, they are bad, get rid of them all including BOB, but at least let's see how they do when they operate correctly. I still doubt BOB let's him call the game week 1, if so, then this is truly different.Kinda remember hearing similar rhetoric when OB named Godsey OC. I got excited then, until the regular season & I saw his suck was as bad as BO'bs. Actually, he made BO'b look good.
Alls I'm saying is I hope the reports you heard are true & I hope the people BO'b picked are good. But chances are...

I'm pretty sure that al OB understands about offense is that certain routes get run. No idea why. What's an audible? It has to be from Bill and Tommy's book they let him have,Always trying to reinvent the wheel. If you speak to any great OL coach, I doubt they endorse O'Brien's jack of all trades approach to coaching the OL. In fact, I believe many would echo your post than endorse this nonsense at NRG.

Now Houston Texan fans understand why Ivy League schools laugh at Brown.
Play calling in the NFl is all about getting the defense in the personnel grouping you want then exploiting it through clock management. The offense gets its optimal grouping then dictates when and who the defense subsitutes.IMHO, play calling in the NFL is an innate art that you cannot teach. Every NFL team can claim to have a game plan offense or defense. If that's the case and teams are changing their schemes and plays on a weekly basis, coaches can spend all week preparing and teaching a game plan, However, once the scripted plays are over, the ability to react in real time and make in game adjustments from quarter to quarter cannot be planned and is what separates average coaches from great coaches. The ability to decipher and attack based on the ebb and flow of the game or even how your team is performing during the game.
Having a dynamic playmaker at QB or a great QB can overcome some of the limitations of the play caller. But against the better coached teams, the play caller always gets exposed. It might be why fans always feel like the offensive game plans feel like random plays full of "what the hell was that call" moments.
Exactly!
Crazy how some people don't understand that's the root cause of our problems with the offensive line. If the coaching staff on that side of the ball doesn't change its philosophy. Mr. Watson will continue to lead the league in being sacked.
Just curious. You were impressed with Trent Brown back when he was with San Francisco right? A 7th round pick who earned a starting job as RT.They still haven't fixed the LT problem.
If they continue to use Davenport at LT you will be prophetic. Doesn't matter who coaches him.

His combine is very similar to Davenport. He eventually grew into a decent LT for a Super Bowl Champion. What did you see in Trent Brown that you don't see in Davenport?
According to Wikipedia, Trent Brown is currently the heaviest player in the NFL.
I've noticed with Steelbtexan, whenever he doesn't like someone, he will spew negative remarks 24/7 about them.
There's nothing no one can say that will convince him otherwise. Davenport can become all pro this season. And dude will still hate on Davenport for whatever mistake he makes this season.
Not true, I told you last yr Davenport sucked. I'm telling you that again this yr. Why? Because he doesn't have the athletic ability to play LT and we saw how bad he was at RT. If you want Watson to get hurt again then start Davenport at LT.
.
But you have stated numerous times that you don't know how to judge OL talent
Appreciate your candor and humility which always helps a persons cred over the longer run.Nope, I said I dont know how to judge CB talent.
Atleast I have a poor track record of judging CB talent.
Interesting data here. Texans are big spenders on their top 3 non QBs
@Jason_OTC: Since I had many comments about this here is what is spent on the top 3 non-qbs per team
1. Rams- $53.1M
2. Bears- $51.5M
3. Chiefs- $50.8M
4. Browns- $50.1M
5. Saints-$49.7M
6. Texans- $48.8M (includes Clowney)
7. Cowboys- $47.2M
8. Falcons- $45.8M
9. Bucs- $45.3M
Includes Clowney meaning franchise tag spend?
I’m loving it! Shows Cal McNair ain’t screwing around and just wasting time like his old man would by keeping scrubs around that will just keep costing us games. Now, if he also applies this to the coaching staff, O’Brien and Crennel’s arses must be clenched 24/7. Do your job or GTFO!Colvin got cut

Would be nice...OB is going ask for a timeout to collect his thoughts and throw a challenge flag against the fact that he in the hot seat.
Cal is going to over rule him and find that the ruling on the field stands, his job is on the line.
OB is penalized a weeks worth of pay.
I wonder how Cal McNair feels about Mike Vrabel advancing to the AFC Championship on his second year as Head Coach? Especially knowing we had him in house the whole time and let him walk/sign with our direct rival!

And Vrabel's doing it with less talent...
O’Brien will probably have the same game plan as the one he had against the Broncos. That is, just be on the sideline eating his boogers, hoping Watson’s instincts carry the team to a win. With that said I hope the team comes in like a bunch of men processed and take Mahomes’ soul.
The more likely outcome is the Chiefs advance and face the Titans for the AFCCG in Tennessee.
Maybe, but it sickens me because I feel we have the better team. We’re just missing the coach to bring the best out of everyone. Hoping for a miracle though!I believe you are correct but the game would be in Kansas City.
Vrabel doesn't have a Watson at his disposal yet he's got the Titans into the AFCCG with a massive win on the road. I don't give 2 hoots what he did with the Texans b/c that may very well have been due to the Texans culture. What I do realize.....what he's accomplished in 2 seasons with the Titans is to be commended. Wish OB could've had that kind of success......maybe he starts his with a win KC and the opportunity to host Houston's first AFCCG.
I wanted to keep Vrabel.
WHY? His defense was HORRIBLE. Everyone wanted RAC back at D-Coordinator.
Not as DC, as HC.WHY? His defense was HORRIBLE. Everyone wanted RAC back at D-Coordinator.
One guy had his team prepared for the number #1 seed team, the other is about to be the 5th team to lose after being up 24-0.

I hope we pull it out but it's going to take a miracle with OB as coach.
I wanted him as a hc when Houston let him go. Honestly I wasn't expecting OB to lose a 24 point lead like that though. Not what you were thinking a couple hours ago... FK
