The Texans have made plenty of FA signings. Osweiler, Jeff Allen, Lamar Miller and Colvin, for example.

I don’t really care what Gaine does in FA. It’s the draft that really matters, and he had a damn good one despite the handicap. That’s what a good GM does. Anyone can just go buy a good player or two and get the team in a bind (cap-wise) instead of discovering talent and not having to worry about absurd amounts of cash just to convince a player to come play for our team until 4-5 years down the line.Oh I already know. Wanted to give Gaine a chance to see what he'd do in FA and right now going have to give him a failing grade.

Or just turn the other cheek
They draft well, they don't trade a ton of picks, they keep their own guys they can properly value, they don't overpay free agents. OPPOSITE of what O'Brien has done.
Yes, but said team must have a coach that is capable of putting together a game plan that involves the RB in the passing game.....Bell is like having a 4th or 5th WR on the field.
Obviously Watson's health is more impotant. Just thinking that if a CB isn't signed in FA then that'd be the pick I'd assume. Because Devlin is making chicken salad out of chicken ***t with that Oline. At least OB thinks so.Why do you think this.
Which is more important, Watson's health or a cb?
Is that what the Rams did last yr?
The Eagles the yr before?
Nope they made trades/FA signings to augment their really good drafting.
With all due respect Steel, aren't you the one that was pounding all of us that have been disgruntled with the current regime. I mean all I've seen from your posts over the last year or so is how there is now a new sheriff in town, we are done with that loser RS, and now we have a savior in Gaine and now the HC and the GM are aligned and they fart unicorns and rainbows and their sheet don't stink like us mere humans.
Now, you're over here trashing these same people. I guess I define the word consistent a little differently.
I also think the other fans that post here would be a little more respectful of you if you knocked off the hyperbole about injuries and such. We're all passionate fans - that's why we hang out here so we can communicate with other fans, but no need to go overboard and talk about people dying and getting injured. This is the toy store of life, and guess what, we have no control over it. So Relax and enjoy it!
Prove it deal.
In 2020 the Texans have $107m in capspace but these guys will get big raises:
-clowney
-watson
-mercilus
-fuller
Plus all the draft picks for the next two drafts
Signing brown and Matthieu means you can't keep everyone.
I liked Roby coming out of college.
Haven’t paid much attention to him lately.
Roby earned a 59.8 overall grade from Pro Football Focus in 2018 - the lowest of his career. His 78.3 in 2017 was a career-high.
Roby was among PFF’s least efficient cornerbacks last season. He was tied for 20th with 82 targets, but gave up 823 yards, ranking fourth. His 1.48 yards per coverage snap ranked 102nd of the 131 cornerbacks that qualified. Roby allowed a career-worst 65.9% completion percentage when targeted and a passer rating of 117.3 in 2018.
Bills agreed to terms with OL Ty Nsekhe on a two-year, $14.5 million contract with $7.7 million guaranteed.
Nsekhe held his own filling in for Trent Williams the last two seasons. The former Texas State star has been a swingman for his career but should get a shot to start at right tackle in Buffalo. Nsekhe's signing means Jordan Mills likely won't be back.
LMAO .. so Texans-like .. wont spend the money to keep your guy in Jackson or Mathieu, but WILL spend the money on an average/below average guy like Roby?
We swapped KJax and HB for Roby and Gipson and saved some money along the way. Our secondary may actually be better than last year with these moves - we were hurting at CB the most and KJax was better at S. That being said, this feels like a sideways move. We still don’t have a true #1 corner, our O-line is still bad, there are still question marks at HB and WR... I really hope we use some more of our capspace for some impact players...
If he plays like that here it’ll be a disaster.
Roby is only 1 year, $10 million
He's probably better playing the slot. The Texans need a slot CB, as Colvin was a disaster.I liked Roby a lot but maybe thats because of Talib and Chris Harris being the outside corners so..... yea we shall see how this goes.
That’s the thing, he seems to be a great #2 corner, but not necessarily ready to take on the best receiver every down. At least our safety squad should be pretty good with Reid, Hal and Gipson to help him out a bit - and our pass rush should help as well... Still we need to take a CB somewhere in the first two rounds...
"only" bless your heart.
Its still way early, hell its not even officially F/A yet its just the end of the no tampering which it seems was ignored anyway. To me they have been very smart this off season so far. The didn't way over pay for Trent Brown, they didn't try to bring in the drama queen that is the other Brown, they offered Badger a good deal but when KC offered him more than he was worth they let him walk and they still have all their picks and maybe even some comp picks down the line. Is it the big head line grabbing news like what the Raiders are doing, no but then when has a team that "won" F/A ever turned it into on field success that season.
This is a very deep draft for almost all positions, except maybe QB but we've got that covered for once, and the mocks for us are all over the board because we have so many choices that could help us. I'll actually wait till after the off season is over before deciding if it was a win or not. Right now this all feels like judging a movie based on not even the trailers but on the opening credits.
They didn't really pay for anybody.
Matthieu got $14m for multiple years
O'Brien got them to pay up for osweiler and Jeff Allen and Lamar Miller

I get it K I really do, but trying to put lipstick on a pig is not going to cut it. Kareem was only 11 for 3 years? Kareem was BY FAR the better player LAST YEAR between he and Roby .. but people like to predict the future like they do with Clowney and his knee . they say that Kareem will all of a sudden be a dud next year why? Because he got paid? Because he's 31? Didnt JJO dispel some of those age related arguments?
You may be high on Roby and it could turn out great, but I get the same feeling I got from the Colvin signing ... TRASH!!
Texans need to get faster and better in coverage on the outside and over the top. It doesn't matter who the "better" player is between Jackson and Roby... Roby is likely going to upgrade our secondary, because he offers things that Jackson does not. We will see how it works out.

Lets see what RAC and co. can do with him.Jackson can play all positions in the secondary and do it well. Roby is ONLY a 2nd CB at best and judging by his grades and the fact that the Denver Broncos fan pages are throwing a party over his loss isnt very encouraging, but hey next year when he's getting burnt and Im yelling "i told you so" you guys can always go back to the "your not a real fan" insults. Seems to work wonders around here.
"offers things that Jackson does not" - yup, bad coverage, DPI flags, and poor tackling.
Roby might be faster but he certainly wasn't better last yr.
