Well, the GM search is on!

as long as he's in NE he will be under Belichicks thumb but he could be a bonafide GM in title and in fact with the power/authority down here in Houston.
Now on the other hand there's always the

 under BB's thumb, six rings... or face of Houston clvsterfvk...

Decisions, decisions...

Yes but he would have the kind autonomy & authority in Houston he could only dream about under BB with probably atleast as much comp so
yea you bet decisions, decisions...

If there is a silver lining in this mess, it's the possible (if not likely) rift between Caserio and Belichick. How much responsibility is Bill going to give Caserio now that his intentions to bail are clear? I'm surprised he even wants Caserio around, at all. Would not be shocked if Caserio is dumped before training camp.
Yea I'm with Lucky here, which is this is what they call a liquid-situation or atleast it certainly could be.
At the very least things will probably be tense between BB & Caserio. I mean he's been a loyal employee for many, many years and probably like most sharp, young, and ambitious executives he wants to take advantage of an opportunity to grow and how would he feel with BB standing on his neck and preventing the chance for growth and new and larger goals.

I wonder If caserio is good friends with easterby then why didn't he tell him about his contract?

You know it’s not so much Caserio I’m wondering about, maybe it had been so long since he saw his contract that he had forgotten what was most likely just a clause in the middle of it. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that one.

What I can’t figure out is how the hell his agent didn’t know about this especially since he and Easterby have the same agent. It is literally his job to get his client the job he wants and it had the added bonus of helping another client. How the hell did he miss that and what does that say about Easterby and Cesario ability to evaluate people if they apparently couldn’t evaluate their own agent.

Pretty impressive spin. Let's just forget about the chaos created within his own organization.
Exactly how has anyone other than BG been affected? Players and coaches are on the same page. Watson’s happy so I am. Can’t help your attitude but not sure if anyone can. Bet my day beat yours, lol.

Or they never established serious interest from caserio

What is this chaos you speak of? The biggest thing I see is the impression of ineptness to outsiders trying to put their own spin on things, TT included.

What is this chaos you speak of?
Really? There's no GM to make decisions on possible trades, waiver wire pickups, or contract extensions. The people left in the personnel department are Gaine hires who in the dark regarding their future job status. And the void is left to be filled by a head coach known to be a poor talent evaluator, a salary cap expert with no football experience, and a former team chaplain who was a golf All American.

I would call that ideal. This is OB's baby. Sit back and watch him work his magic. Swim or drown. This is where BB owns OB. BB is cold as ice and does nothing out of emotion (minor exception being Malcolm Butler, but that fits in the stupid cold realm as well). OB is all raw emotion, aggression and attitude. That's a losing combination for a HC (especially with a shitty system) to start with.

As much evidence as the various tweets you post to support your points. Live by the click bait, die by the click bait.

A lot of articles have "sources." I think a lot of times these sources could be lying, but at least it's something.

So far we still don't have a single source saying Caserio wants to leave. Maybe he does, but so far it's just people saying "well it seems he wants to leave."

We've had articles with sources saying Easterby is gaining power, that there was tension with Gaine, that OBrien doesnt want to bother with personnel, etc. but nothing on Caserio

Yes sources, of course those sources could be the janitor working under Cal's office who was able to determine what they were discussing based on how many foot steps he hears in a days.

Or you know, a journalist just claiming to have a source to make his own opinion seem to be more legitimate.

A journalist could be fired for that.

And yet we still have no source saying Caserio wants to leave

Are you actually going to talk about ethics in journalism? If that's your best argument then you might want to stop while you're ahead.

That's not my argument. My argument is we have nothing at all, no source, no quote from Caserio, no one close to Caserio saying he wants to leave.

We don't even get made-up sources or lying sources saying it. The journalists claiming it are careful to say it's just a theory they made up.

I don't even know what your point is.

I'm going back to one of my original thoughts. Cal is a rookie and OB's never wore the GM pants.....sort of like the blind leading the blind. If I were Cal, I would hire Bill Polian as my advisor and give him some football decision making power. If Polian thinks the Texans could snag Caserio away from the Patriots, I'd rather have him leading the charge versus Cal and OB.

I think Polian would be good for Cal and the Texans.....not to mention, if OB screws the pooch out of the gate, Cal can step back and let Polian deliver the pink slip. I don't think it would too much of a reach to think the other Bill might have a little more football left in him.

The Texans boat has no rudder. Captain Cal is inexperienced. Chief of the Boat OB is only an E7 doing an E8's job. Poorly I might add. And the weapon's crew (the offensive line) couldn't hit a building right in front of them.

Not to mention all the rust building up on the hull.

Per Ben Volin Boston globe

"Nick Caserio is such a believer on O'Brien's WR screen pass that he will leave the pats TODAY" and I qoute "play must be attempted twice per game at the most crucial moments of the game"

Got a link for that?

Am I the only one that sees this organization as a comical train wreck, that we are compelled to watch and laugh at all the carnage because there's nothing we can do about it and to take it seriously would drive you nuts? IDK, maybe that's just my warped way of looking at the situation.

No, you aren't the only one its almost unbelievable how they have botched this entire process from the start.

I wonder why this soap opera isn't getting more national attention...
:hmmm:
Cause the Texans have not really won anything more than a third place award, I guess? I do feel they're very close to breaking out once they get Caserio.

All the sports networks talk about is the Lakers and how to crown them Kings. Hell, the Lakers got more coverage the last two months than the entire NBA playoffs. The Texans are like 6 levels below that on the National scale of coverage.

The sports channels have always had an unhealthy obsession with the Lakers. If they are even within sniffing distant of a championship then the rest of the sports world, no matter the sport, doesn't exist unless its in reference to something the Lakers have done.

True but an even more unhealthy obsession to saturate the public on Lebron James. For example the Bucks and Greek Freak barely got any coverage all season long. Neither did the Rockets and they were top teams. Don't even get me started on the lack of coverage for the Denver Nuggets breakout season this year. Texans are right there with the Bucks from what the media wants to promote. Huge reason why ESPN has also lost tons of viewers and lay offs as well.

To most people this is simply about a franchise firing their GM and not being able to hire their preferred candidate. It's not exactly a leading headline.

But here on TT there is a lot of history, bias and dare I say a bit of PTSD around football in Houston that will always see a situation like this much differently in order of magnitude than the rest of the sports world.

Where have you read that Easterby is going to be involved in the draft? That's not who the Texans named to be interim GM.

I was only partially joking. Bazirgan will head the scouting functions but he's a gaine guy so why would OBrien trust him? That only leaves OBrien and Easterby.
