with an unimaginative offense that doesn't get anyone open
Boring ass stuff. Go to a Texas High School game on Friday nights and you'll see much more imaginative offenses.

OB refused to scheme in the obviously more talented rookie TEs. Total self-inflicted wound
Mind boggling.

The long and short of it is their defense made us work hard for everything
That defense is FAST. The Texans, not so much.

I was thinking about this yesterday. All these other playoff teams defenses are fast af and physical definitely their linebackers. Ours are well...yea. Our defense just doesn’t have that speed like you’d expect.

Did you see the Chargers play 8 DBs and no LBs to be faster against the Ravens? That's creative.

Yeah, I saw that... it makes me wonder, with the way the NFL is headed - should we draft a 'big' CB or Safety and convert them to an LB. Just seems the way to go with QB's getting more mobile (Watson, Luck, Newton, Wilson, Mahomes, Wentz - I'm sure I'm missing a bunch) you need one thumper and one undersized, fast, with OK/decent coverage skills to help cover.

So this "Sauce" guy may or may not know what is happening but interesting nonetheless:

Sauce Sports@SauceSportsHTX

Just heard something quite interesting. We'll see what happens with the #Texans organization in the very near future.

Some fans may get what they want if things fall in line. Some fans may not be too happy if they do.

Stay tuned.

10:10 AM - Jan 7, 2019

It’s tough… been thinking on it all day how I’d feel if it happened. I personally think it is probably a lateral move at…worst but unprecedented in #Texans history.

— Sauce Sports (@SauceSportsHTX) January 7, 2019

I’ll say that’s not what I’ve heard.

— Sauce Sports (@SauceSportsHTX) January 7, 2019

A "source" has passed on some info about the #Texans Dont want to be the fake breaking news guy. If I see it starting to line up as I was told it would I’ll drop it. But until then…..

— Sauce Sports (@SauceSportsHTX) January 7, 2019

From what I was told it could be a major announcement before the day is up.

— Sauce Sports (@SauceSportsHTX) January 7, 2019

Alright I dont like playing the suspense game too much. If nothing has come out..I’ll drop it live on the Sauce tonight.

May be a little later than usual tonight 8pm instead of 7pm. I’ll drop it then and we can discuss it. Yall can call in with your opinions.

— Sauce Sports (@SauceSportsHTX) January 7, 2019

Yes but I’m cautious to attach my name to anything without further proof. So if it seems probable then a speak on it.

— Sauce Sports (@SauceSportsHTX) January 7, 2019

Yes it is. All Sports Only Houston.

— Sauce Sports (@SauceSportsHTX) January 7, 2019

Honestly I haven't heard anything further. But I want to speak on it because I enjoy the discussion with #Texans fans. Nothing I say can stop it from happening if its going to happen anyway.

— Sauce Sports (@SauceSportsHTX) January 7, 2019

And that was Gus Bradley, the former Jags HC, the Chargers current DC who devised that defense and even Tony Romo (long-time former NFL QB) said he'd never seen that defense. That a was sharp strategy by Bradley, gotta give him credit.
The below quote is from Chargers HC Lynn about that defense....

“We were scared to death,” Lynn said. “We knew that it was going to put speed in the box. I know you can get in and out of that [personnel grouping] and have success, because we’ve done it before. But to live in it for a whole game was something we had never done. We were certainly prepared to go big if we had to. But going small, it just proved, going up against a quarterback like Lamar, speed in the box, it helps.

“What was so impressive was how those young men held up inside on the downhill runs. Our defensive linemen, we put a lot on them. We told them, this week, ‘We’re gonna make you strain, and it’s going to take more effort.’ And they did it.”

His responses to some of the people commenting on his tweets seem to indicate some movement from the NCAA ranks.

He said not Kingsbury. Didn't confirm anything about Dabo.

Is this guy reliable at all?

Tune in to his show and you’ll find out. Fortunately this is a #hearingpeopleproblems kind of thing. He ain’t foolin’ this Deaf guy.

:)

My advice... leave the podcast off and just enjoy tonight’s game.

Basically said "from his credible source" that Cal and OB had a meeting that didn't go well. Texans looking at Harbaugh.

Sauce Sports:

I cannot guarantee anything. Source is a very credible person.

Nothing to with Clemson or Alabama.

A possible major change that will affect the future of the franchise.

What I heard is at the time of receiving the text, Bill O'Brien was in a meeting with Cal McNair, discussing the future of the franchise. He(Cal) may be different than what we're anticipating. Rumor has it Cal got O'Brien on the chopping block. Not satisfied. He'll have to be pleading for his job. Rumor has the Texans in pursuit of Jim Harbaugh. I found it interesting. I didn't want to throw it out there. I'm not that guy.

I’ll believe it when I see it. But if Cal does something this bold right out of the gate I’d be enthusiastic about the future. Just because he has the same name doesn’t mean he’s going to operate the same way as his dad.

That said, there always seems to be these kind of dust up rumors when the majority of the fan base is pissed off.

I’m still worried about Rick Smith’s departure being a comma and not a period with Cal in charge.

After BOB's halftime comment that the Texans weren't "built for sustained drives", I went to the dark side. This comment basically told me that he has no clue on how to use his players. At the very least, we need an OC. I think BOB did a good job getting us to this point, but I don't think he will ever lead us to the Super Bowl.

After BOB's halftime comment that the Texans weren't "built for sustained drives",
HUH??? Pretty contradictory there Coach! Your craptastic drive before the half ended was 11 plays for 64 yards. Then your even more craptastic TD drive in the 4th was an astonishingly agonizing 16 play drive that went 89 yards. Those look like sustained drives to me. And by the way coach, you did realize that while on that TD drive your team was down by 21?! 21!! How about a little "ANIMO"! A little hurry the hell up would have been nice. That TD drive took over SIX minutes! A little too sustained if you ask me.

So 20 plus million (O'Brein made 5 million at least times 4 years) to have BOB not coach, and at minimum 8 million (7.5 million currently) for Jim Harbaugh coach (not counting any buyout). So for the next 4 years, at least 13 million per for the Texans HC. I know its Daddy's money, but this doesn't follow a sensible money trail at all.

And for Cal not being Daddy, he been part of the corporate decision-making committee for several years, not several weeks. Another I welcome to be wrong situation.

I would love to know his 'credible source'

Damn, RC evidently stated he's fully committed to return as DC. I was hoping he'd had enough and then the Browns would screw the pooch by letting Greg Williams walk......I couldn't have got a call off fast enough to see if he'd have any interest in coming to the Texans as DC.

I don't get "just hire an OC and Bill O'Brien will be great!" ****. Isn't that what that loser George Godsey was?

To be fair, O’Brien was hired because he had the reputation as an offensive genius who would implement a version of the Patriots’ scheme.

When the offense struggled with Godsey as the OC, it was only natural for people to want O’Brien to step in and get the offense on track or take some of the responsibilities from an inexperienced Godsey.

At this point, everyone recognizes that O’Brien is not running anything similar to the Patriots’ scheme and he needs an experienced OC or offensive assistant to improve this offense.

This is one reason why OB is leery of handing over everything to an OC. They leave, it starts over. Watson is still young and needs a consitent Voice. Still think they need to find another offensive mind to bring in. https://t.co/tN8Hm9lFJw

I mentioned the other day. OB needs another offensive mind in the building. I will leave the names to others. https://t.co/G1lLhJt47J

— patrick (@PatDStat) January 7, 2019

I don’t buy Pat’s excuse. How many offensive assistants has Andy Reid lost? Did Reid start over? How many assistants have Belichick lost? You bring someone in with fresh ideas to tweak your system not overhaul it because an assistant left.

I don’t know if it’s insecurity or ego, but the only person I can see O’Brien trusting to run his offense would be Doug Marrone. Another long time friend.

That first reason is absolute bullshit IMO. He is an offensive minded HC, whether the OC stays or go he will be that consistent voice for Watson, but an OC can bring a fresh set of eyes to the game, free up OB to do other things and not focus fully on play calling during a game. You don't have to bring in an OC that completely changes everything every time you hire one.

Bingo. The "consistent voice' is a BS excuse. Unless someone steps in and demands an OC come in it already appears to be pointing to everything staying the SAME AGAIN which would be unfathomable at this point in his tenure. I wanted a new DC but I could stomach RAC staying with a revamped personnel but the offense has to have a full flip as far as play calling duties go. BOB gets so pathetically lost trying to call AND manage a game.....

Reid has been that consistent voice calling the plays though. Eric Bienemy has also been with him a while too.

If O'Brien keeps Devlin employed, I'd fire him based on that alone.
