What's your plan for QB next season?

I still think the O-line needs to be solidified prior to the draft, if you wait until the draft to find a starter at tackle, your setting yourself up to be at the mercy of the board and have to reach instead of going BPA. Get a new starter at RT in FA and draft depth guys 3rd round or later.

I'm starting to warm up to the idea of drafting Mahomes.

I like this guy's player breakdowns:

I like Trubisky as well but I figure he'll be gone by our pick.

I am starting to come around to him as well, the biggest knock on him seems to be the system he's coming out of, however, more and more I think that he will impress and be long gone by our pick at 25.

Looks like Mitch could drop:

According to NFL Network's Mike Mayock, some league evaluators believe UNC QB Mitch Trubisky will measure in closer to 6-foot-1 than 6-foot-3, the height at which he was listed at North Carolina.

This nugget was passed along by Mocking the Draft's Dan Kadar, who does an outstanding job covering the draft each year. While being 6-foot-1 in and of itself won't make or break Trubisky's big-league career, it could affect his draft stock. Only two quarterbacks over the last 15 years measuring 6-foot-1 or shorter have been drafted in the first round. UNC listed Trubisky at 6-foot-3, 220.

Interesting.

Here's Trubisky standing next to NC tight end Brandon Fritts, who's listed at 6'4 ...

First off, depth is important in photos like this, but they seem to be close enough to get some idea of relative height.

Just taking this pic on it's face though, either Trubisky is legit shorter than 6'3 or Fritts is 6'6-6'7.

They are close enough to get a good idea but Trubisky is wearing a cap that holds his hair down while Fritts isn't but it would appear that Trubisky is closer to 6'1" than 6'3".

I was expecting to see a manziel lite type player based on what I heard. I think he's a better qb than johnny was. His offense isn't extremely complicated either, but there's more to it than Johnny's. And also, he doesn't run just to run. He's evading pressure and trying to make a play throwing the ball. He seems a lot more comfortable throwing in the pocket to me than manziel ever did.

That's a good thing for us if you like Trubisky right? If you like the guy, wouldn't you be hoping he measures in at Six foot & three quarters of an inch?

Trubisky's release is so sweet. He and mahomes are my two favorite guys that I've seen so far. If he fell to us I'd love to have him.

Belichick is a defense guy. Elway is a HoF QB working with a HC that is considered a QB whisperer. That team wanted Oz. Frankly when I see people saying 'it's so obvious Oz sucks, it was obvious in Denver, it was obvious in college' I tend to move them into the 'don't know crap about QBs' column. Elway/Kubiak v. Internet Genius - not a tough call. Yes they all make mistakes, but don't tell me it was obvious or that Smith is a dumbass for sharing their opinion.

I know someone who resembles that remark. That poster certainly knows nothing, but he also isn't blinded by 'what can I do with (how can I fix) a hard working 6'8" athlete with a cannon under center?'. That's what Brock is, he's a try hard pitcher. In the right situation he can look like a quarterback, but this blind squirrel got one right a long time ago (and each step of the way) and dangit I'm going to stick to it. Even Owen Daniels won't suppress my lack of knowledge as Oz continues to **** the bed.

Jamarcus Russell and Tim Tebow were also beautiful pieces of clay that real coaches much smarter than 'that poster' thought they could turn into something special ... before being fired. Some are obvious.

Again, it's too early to tell. If he's a franchise QB then he was undervalued, if not...

Hard to know what you really have at this point

I said Belichick would say he's valued him correctly, not over or under, and I believe he'd say that as of today.

He had him start their year off with two wins sans Brady (and nothing here about Brissett, they won more in spite of Brissett and I've no doubt BB would have felt worlds more comfortable with Jimmy for those four games) and he's had him as an ace in the hole this whole time developing while waiting to see how much longer his great but aging QB wanted to continue lacing 'em up.

That's a perfectly legit second round value.

Yes it is second round value. I wanted us to take him at 2-1. I misunderstood your point. At 3-1 he would have been a steal

Where was Glazer disputed?

Several people said that Glazers BOB report was throwing stuff against the wall.

Most prominently CAK

Posts have to be taken in context and actually I was talking about Lombardi. At the time nobody was claiming even an unnamed source. It was pure speculation. Appears Glazer is now relaying Rappaport's unnamed source.

People took Lombardi's Browns speculation (takes one savvy pundit to speculate a team without a viable QB might look for a QB) as Garoppalo is available for trade. Then someone else compared Garoppalo to Bradford and all the sudden it was fact around here that Garoppalo was available for a 1st and 4th.

So what makes Lombardi's report any less valid than Wilson's/Oehler's/
Thing is that Lombardi was answering a question. He didn't quote anyone from either the Browns or the Patriots. To me that makes it speculation.

Educated speculation? Sure. But still, just speculation.

And, again, Lombardi only speculated that the Browns would be interested in Garoppolo and they have the trade capital (four picks in the first two rounds - badboy would have a field day :D) to make a solid offer.
That's not the same as him declaring Garoppolo on the trading block.

Oh and that article said the Browns are also looking at
Trubisky or Watson; lots of time between now and the draft to decide which move to make. And no team is going to lay all their cards on the table this early in the game.

Looks like Jimmy G will either be going to the Browns or 49ers.

I hope not. I kinda like the kid and think he has a future... unless he goes to the Browns

Don't know if today's 49ers are much of a better landing spot unless they do land Kyle Shanahan

Word is KS to the 49ers is a done deal.

It's done.

That would be a game changer to land both guys for San Fran. Definitely worth the investment if you ask me. Give up the picks and let Kyle work get the best out of Jimmy.

What's done? Kyle to SF? It'll be done when the contract is signed. I've seen to many last minute changes over the years to take that one to the bank. And yeah I think Jimmy would be great working with Kyle

I hope that don't happen too... that place is a death knell waiting to happen

I really believe in KS and Lynch. If they find their QB they can tuen that thing around in about 3 yrs. High draft picks and 80 mil in cap room means a fairly quick turnaround if you get people that know what they're doing in place and let them do their jobs.

I'm not sure about Lynch... I do believe in KS. But that front office ownership??? Running off JH like they did was just criminal

They're reaping what they sew for that decision.

JH was used to get the new stadium built.

Why would Kyle waste time with a total unknow like Jimmy G when he can just sign Cousins?

If he goes to SF that may well be an option. Depends on how he views Jimmys ceiling compared to Cousins and the time frame he chooses to deal with

I didn't know where to put this but today i just read a report article that both Terry Bradshaw and Jimmy Johnson don't like Osweiler. It goes on to say he's too slow and the QB evaluations and developing for the Texans is bad.

Noticed this little tidbit when I clicked on your link: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/02/01/j-j-watt-im-fully-cleared-for-football-activities/

I heard some of Bradshaw on the radio talking about this.

Texans need to spend a lot of time on the qb position this off season.

They've got to find a guy whether he's here already or not.
