Will the Texans get desperate in their search of a GM and HC?

Texans president says Jack Easterby won't be GM, admits team gave Bill O'Brien too much power
Aaron Wilson Nov. 18, 2020 Updated: Nov. 18, 2020 2:04 p.m.

Team president Jamey Rootes provided some additional clarity Wednesday on the Texans' head coaching and general manager vacancies.

Since firing coach and general manager Bill O'Brien, the Texans have installed Romeo Crennel as interim head coach and Jack Easterby as interim general manager.

During a Zoom call with season-ticket holders to promote his book "The Winning Game Plan: A Proven Leadership Playbook for Continued Business Success," Rootes made it clear that the team plans to make new hires for permanent head coach and general manager and not promote from within.

Rootes acknowledged that giving O'Brien so much power was a mistake.

"We gave Bill complete autonomy relative to personnel and that did not work out," Rootes said. "We admitted it, we’re cool. Hope will spring eternal in January when we introduce a new coach and new general manager."

The Texans have been researching and vetting multiple candidates for both vacancies, doing background work and contacting and discussing the positions with representatives for candidates , according to multiple league sources not authorized to speak publicly.

THE REST OF THE STORY

*******************************************************************
Keep in mind, that as I've posted in the past, I have it from good sources that the negotiated player trades and contracts that O'Brien has been fried for, were negotiated by Easterby. This has been carefully swept under the rug by the FO.

From everything I'm hearing now, we are going back to the same order of things that has never worked in the past................a HC will 1st be chosen who agrees totally with the choice of QB long-term..............then and only then (whether made public or not), a GM will be chosen only if he agrees with the choice of HC. What ever happened to signing a GM who then builds the franchise with his choice of HC...........and who oversees the choice of player personnel with the "input" of his HC?

When you begin with dysfunctional principles, you can expect to end up with dysfunction.

Whatever could go wrong.

Might as well name DW4 as HC and Pancakes GM.

God Texans ownership sucks.

Garbage in, garbage out. What is so frustrating is so many people can see and understand the dysfunction and yet the front office remains oblivious.

This is true, I noticed that he is more vocal and not always in a good way. If Watson is wanting EB and we can get him (but not sure he wants to come her due to the owner for starters) then we will. Or he will pout, trust me. Seeing he already has been involved in a few things that a single player should not be able to do.

I don't think they are. I just think it's a case of if they make money...then they don't care. People wanting OB fired for a few years. You know they saw it and did what? Made him GM and HC. So, it's kinda apparent like it was with Smith. If you tow the line and be a "yes man" with no option...they keep you around. JJ noted that OB was starting to get under the wrong people's skin. JJ however said he likes OB, STILL says it. After the "fight" in practice and everything.

I don't know, I find it hard to believe that corporate executives are intentionally being stupid for the sake of being stupid.

Look at the GM move with OB. Or already having your QB stating that he would like to have EB as HC...yet no GM mentioned. Watson endorsemed EB! At least the FO should be having him stay quiet if EB is the plan.

.
Pretty much what I said yesterday ..... Easterby won't be GM & Romeo won't be HC.

I've also heard that the Texans are NOT high on Bieniemy's list of preferred destinations. :mcclain:

True colors

Let's see how this all turns out before you start inferring that I'm a racist.

If Bienemy is the next HC I will be rooting for j to succeed. Hardly a thing a racist will do.

DW4's could possibly be a racist. BTW, Saleh is#2 on my list of hires.

Why mention minority at all?
Why do you think? He’s already stated how dumb he thinks the QB is. That’s what got him on my ignore list. Surely he thinks Bieniemy can’t be smart enough to be HC. Hell, come to think of it, it’s probably why he wasn’t much of a Rick Smith fan.

Don’t know why y’all keep playing this dude’s game.

I've never said DW4 was dumb. Just because a guy is slow in processing doesn't make him dumb.

Wic B may or may not be a fine HC. It has nothing to do with him being a minority and everything to do with my wanting a HC that has atleast called plays before. Saleh is my 2nd choice and I wouldn't mind at all if Bowled became the next HC. But carry on with your false narrative, not that you will see this post because you have me on ignore.

Where has Watson said he want EB as HC? Do you have a link or quote from Watson? This was reported by Jason La Confora. That guy is basically known as Jason "No Cofirma". When it comes to insder reporting, he is one of the least accurate reporters.

Not picking on you. But this is quoted as fact by multiple posters. So, where is the quote from Watson?

I made a statement in the heat of a game and guess what the play I said that about was a S-word decision. It is what it is, you can either choose to live in the past or not. Some seem to love living in the Clemson past as an example.

BTW stupid isn't a synonym for the word dumb. They're 2 different things. Some don't or won't be able to see the difference.

What Watson said makes no never mind. People are going to ask him questions, he's going to answer.

As far as the Texans, I don't agree with it, but this is who they've been. they believe the HC should drive the team. Way over reacting on the Parcels wanting to buy the groceries paradigm.

Regardless, if you're going to infer Watson's a racist don't be surprised if someone infers you are a racist.
When you consider the coaches Watson has been around. His relationship with Dabo and even O'Brien and Kelly, there is nothing to discuss. It's just a stupid, dumb and moronic comment by a silly troll seeking attention and then want to play coy.

I think it was @powda who wondered why certain posters get such a hard time on this forum. I present Exhibit A.

La Confora may have initially reported it but I've heard it from at least three other sources "close to the team".

People can think what they want. I know what's in my heart and is supported by my actions. I'n other words I'm comfortable in my own skin. I expected this reaction when I made that post. I wasn't disappointed in the reaction.

Let's back this up.

If Bieniemy is off the table, why do you believe Watson would want his next coach to be a minority & not the most qualified person for the job?
Byron Leftwich?

BTW, I would rather Saleh or Bowled become HC before Bienemy. In fact Saleh is my 2nd choice.

I dont give a damn what color our next gm or hc is. I want the best possible result on the field.

I have no reason to believe the McNair's have any racist tendency based on Rick Smith or Romeo. I can't say the same for fans...

Its 2020. Hire a hermaphrodite she-man morman who votes independent. I just want a super bowl championship.

Why could they not be both? If Dashaun thinks there are two or three HC candidates that can be the guy and one is a minority why should he not want that guy? I have no problem with it.
