Which off-season moves would you like the Texans to make? (Roster/FA)

You just about have too.

Keeping Watson healthy should be priority #1.

If that's the case would you give up a 1st for players like Donovan Smith of the Bucs? Eric Fisher of the Chiefs? Halapoulivaati Vaitai of the Eagles? (Back up to Jason Peters) , Anthony Castanzo of the Colts? Charles Leno Jr of the Bears?

I think out of the five I mentioned, 4 of them graded higher than Solder.

Not a popular opinion but if we don't land Solder we are going to probably have Davenport or a rookie protecting Watson's blind side.

There are some good OL's in later rounds, you just have to be able to find them. We found Newton in the 7th. Charles Leno for the Bears was a 7th round pick out of Boise State and now he's a solid LT in the league.

It's going to be really tough for a team to give up their LT without having an answer in their back pocket. Even though the Patriots have Solder, Garcia was drafted to be his eventual replacement...for Beli, if Garcia had stayed healthy, Solder would've been cut without batting an eye. Now, Beli is going to try to be all remorseful and concerned about Solder b/c his plan didn't exactly play out as hoped. If I'm Solder, I'd move on knowing that had Garcia not been injured he'd been just another casualty in Beli's way of doing business.

Yes and sign Sitton.

What I would really like is Gaine to spend the $$$$ to get Solder/Fulton/Sitton and draft a RT. Doesn't look like that's going to happen.

But Newton never played like anything but a RD7 pick....in some instances worse.

Hell no don't give up next year's 1st. I don't want to hear the beotching about not having a 1st for another year.

I agree but its either you hear that for another year or how we still don't have a LT to protect Watson for another year.

What Watson did with our trainwreck OL was amazing, if we actually found a way to protect him, the sky is the limit for this kid. I agree with Steel that keeping Watson healthy should be our #1 priority.

Adrian Peterson wants to sign with the Texans.

Hey AP, if you really wan to play for the Texans....sign a veteran's minimum deal, loaded with incentives so the team can continue their pursuit of putting an OL on the field that would offer you, your best chance at a successful rebound season. I'd like the mentoring he could provide Miller, Foreman, Blue and Ervin.

When he was a rookie and 2nd year player? Yes, absolutely.

In 2014 and 2015 he actually rated above an 80 which would have put him as one of the better RT's in the league. In 2014 he was actually rated as the best blocking RT in the league. (According to PFF)

For a 7th round pick that was a solid return.

That may happen. He was just on the local radio saying he's made a lot of money already and he just wants to win a Super Bowl.

He wants to finish his career at home (here in Houston). He says the Texans have the best team in the league if Deshaun and Watt stay healthy. He sounds ready to sign with the Texans. Maybe soon.

If we sign Adrian Peterson I assume he'll split the carries with Miller and Foreman? We can use a power running game with three capable backs.

I would like to bring in Sitton to compete with Allen. He graded out as an 86 on PFF which is considered "high quality". I'm curious as to why he was cut though.

I know Sitton is a guard but when I was mentioning giving up a 1st for a LT, none of the guys I mentioned graded over an 80.

86 is really good, It definitely raises the question on why he was cut.

Man, for the life of me....I can't remember him being that good. The only thing I remember was the holding penalties and him standing around with his hands on his hips after working up a sweat, slapping defenders on their arses as they blew by him. I can't even remember the Texans ever having the ability to take their running game to the rightwith any kind of authority...it always appeared as an afterthought effort so they could try and keep defenses honest.

Yeah, I think you really do have to overpay for average left tackle play. A 1st or 2nd sounds about right for an average LT (depending on age/contract).

Can I ask why you don't think that's going to happen? Looks like they are getting Fulton and going hard after Solder

Because New England might pull a fast one and finally match. We all know Belichick loves F'n over our Texans.

He was a darn good in run block, but in the passing game he was dreadfully bad.

Bears wanted to get younger in the interior/spend that $ to improve the skill positions. Doesn’t help that the best guard prospect since Zack Martin is in this draft in prime position to be taken by the Bears (Quentin Nelson). Also helps that Nelson’s OL coach in college now coaches the Bears OL.

When I dug deeper into Sitton (with the help of a friend), I found out that he picked and chose which team drills in which he wanted to participate and in which he didn't. This never sat well and created a big negative with his teammates.

The problem is Solder and his team know the dropoff is steep so teams will wait for his decision. And the Browns don’t want to commit to a number until Joe Thomas makes a decision.

And Solder also wants to give New England the opportunity to match. He has the luxury of waiting and there’s not a lot the Texans can do about it given the alternatives and lack of draft capital to go get a comparable player.

You mean the player could choose to join another team and there could absolutely be nothing more the Texans could about it? There are other teams that have lots of money and the same positional need?

Man, you guys sure getting antsy considering free agency hasn't started yet... remember last time Texans were over-active early in FA? That didn't work out so well (Os, Miller, Allen)

And the last time they were active before that worked out pretty well with Jo Jo and Manning...

Neither of which was signed early, much less before FA had even started... and people were upset that Ashmoudi (sp?) wasn't signed the first day

experience in the way the Texans do business.

They are never willing to pay top $$$$ in FA.

That's why they are always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

Be honest to yourself, do you see the Texans paying what it will take to sign the #1 OT (Solder) #2 OG (Sitton) and Fulton. I dont, I guess there's a 1st time for everything though.

That's because we are seeing other teams being active. Only a few teams but they are making positive moves.

Exactly which should tell you it wasn't only Rick Smith. He was just following along with the way the Texans do business. Looks like Gaines will follow that same game plan. Huh

If Solder signs elsewhere, maybe the Texans should change their focus to the right side:

RT- Andre Smith (CIN), Christopher Hubbard (PIT) or Cameron Fleming (NE)

RG- Josh Kline (TEN)

OC- Fulton

Then we let the Texans do what they do best, do a conversion....the Texans will convert Watson to a left handed QB.:)

Let’s give Gain a chance. Last thing we want is Cap Hell or anymore traded picks. Traditionally best moves/values are to be had after the first couple of days anyway, just fyi :chef:

The best move I personally remember was getting JoJo and Manning - and that was right away before the biggest Name CB Chose a Team (that Raiders guy that flamed out pretty fast). With Solder we Need to be fast and ready to open our wallet...

What we are seeing now is 5% of the picture. 1000s of calls are being made. We're hearing about leaks of a few.

Neither signed fast. Nmandi signed with the Eagles July 30 and we signed JJo July 28.

Infantrycak I know they are working. Personally I won't to see it right now. I want us to actually acquire our 1st choices. The Jagaurs snatching up Norwell was huge for them.

I just checked because I remembered it differently. And it seems like I am right:

That's how I remembered it - we went out fast after the second best Player and didn't wait for Asomugha...

I was stoked about getting Jonathan Joseph but would much preferred resigning Glover Quin, so meh
