What is Watson's value in a trade?

True with the top five this year but I have seen Detroit with a top 3 next year if I remember correctly. There are so many trade proposals and NFL mocks flying around and changing almost daily with the DW official request. For a draft nut like me it is awesome

I would say thank you and turn the paperwork into the league office tonight before they change their minds.
Williams is a top DT and top 5 pick if he was coming out in this draft.
So you would have two tp 5's the 22nd the 34th and what would probably be a high 1st in the 2022 draft to go with what would be your own 1st rd high pick plus (Yes the Texans will suck next yr) you also would have your own very high 2nd rd pick.
You would have a chance with the NYJ picks and your picks to add 7 impact players and maybe more if you chose to trade down.
Say you draft Wilson at 2 this yr and draft 22/34. You've got your QB of the future. Then in 2022 you have say pick # 3 and Howell/Slovis/Rattler comes out (I'm forgetting another QB that's really a good prospect) how valuable would that pick be to trade down to say 7th? You could add another 3 really good players in a trade like that. So the 2021/2022 drafts could yield you up to 10 top 40 players counting Quinnen Williams in the 2 drafts and you would have your new franchise QB.
Would you do this deal? I mean even if you thought DW4's a generational player and didn't have to trade him, if you like Wilson with the current state of the franchise (No picks/Cap room) you almost would have to do this deal.
BTW, Williams is the perfect DT in Lovie's scheme. Think a better Tommie Harris.

If the DW situation is truly unrepairable then this is the deal I’d make. I’d send JJ wherever he wants to go, I’m trading Duke and anyone else to acquire as many picks as possible. Total rebuild. The scary thing is you’re trading a Ferari for what’s behind door number 2. I havent watched Wilson play, I know he’s got a terrific arm but you know who else had a terrific arm? Jeff George, and if we trade DW for that I’d be pissed.
There have been no reports that I know of that say Wilson has attitude issues. There were rumors about George's attitude before he was drafted.
I’m sure he’s a great guy, I was just making the point of trading a known quantity for the unknown. It’s a frustrating situation.
Once he leaves , he's the enemy , along with every player on the 31 other teams and I hope the enemy never wins a ring ....

Darnold has never lived up to expectations in college or NFL, but maybe coming in somewhere at rock bottom with no expectations will help cure whatever mental obstacles he has. It is an universal opinion by all the "experts" that the talent is there, he just can't get out of the way.
Would trade Jets #2 for kings ransom and load up on defense/o-line this year and next. Be patient, give Darnold 2 years, if he fails, draft a QB early in 2023 with a team full of talent on D and O-line. Don't want to put a rookie QB on top of our current dumpster fire.

Liked because of where you're at on trade value - exactly where I'm at as well. But I'm using #2 on Wilson. The OLine isn't a dumpster fire and we're not throwing a rookie to the wolves behind it. Darnold can be a backup here but I'm not planning my future with him. Give me someone else preferably.

IMO EB was not signed because he is a WCO guy. The only offense Caserio knows is the Patriots offense. They were not compatible. And they already knew DW4 was adios.
The 49ers is the only “instant contender” I see with Watson. Doesn’t make sense to me for him to force a trade to NYJets.

Super Bowl talk was only fodder for a reason, he wanted out. DW4 loves him some Saleh and NYC and that has a much higher priority.

Keep Darnold, take Mercilus and his cap killing salary. If we are going to do this then lets build through the draft and not take someone else's throw away QB. That rarely works at all and never for the Texans.

Just spotted an interesting scenario by McShay - Watson goes to Panthers in return for Panthers '21 1st and 2nd, '22 1st, Teddy Bridgewater plus S Jeremy Chin.
This way he is out of our conference as well.

This is my plan and where I see the Texans are headed. A draft like I have indicated would do much to mollify most Texans fans. Many of us recognize that DeShaun is generating his exit through his agent.

You seem to be solely focused on the football aspect of the trade. I think that is maybe 40% of why DeShaun wants to leave Houston.
On another note it was just reported in the last 30 minutes that head coach culley agreed to be the head coach as he knew DeShaun Watson was definitely staying in Houston. Also a message general manager Nick Caserio insists that Watson will be the Texans QB. Simple negotiating tool.

You aint ginna get a bunch of high first round picks - one, maybe two if you're lucky. The rest are gonna be mid to lower.
Jeremy Chin is a future pro bowler and Teddy B is serviceable - iow, we have an NFL ready QB.

Wilson showed growth and not a regression which is what you want to see.
I've taken my pokes at ownership for allowing Christianity to affect how they run the team and I believe that there's something to that, but I don't believe that it's going to affect player acquisition. I think it's going to be more about a character judgment than religious standard. That said, they've opened the door to skepticism regarding that and I don't think that they'll ever escape that perception of them.

I would prefer to keep Watson but he doesn’t want to be here so if we trade him I hope this is the type of deal we get. My concern is what Caserio does with the picks especially if Osteensterby sticks his snout in the mix.

Who knows how good he can be, but he's definitely got talent and Steve Young vouches for him. It's worthy of the 2nd pick. IMHO
What I like most about him is the mental toughness. He battled through injury and has come out as a guy that's worth the 2nd pick in the draft. In fact I may be the only guy out there that thinks he can be as good or better than Lawrence. They have similar skillsets.
