Welcome to Houston Jack Easterby

Deshaun loved him some Easterby on September 5, 2020.

Today, I couldn’t be more honored and humbled to sign a long-term deal in Houston, the city that I’ve grown to love so much and now call my home. Thanks to Cal, Janice, the entire McNair family, Coach O’Brien, Jack Easterby and the whole Texans’ organization for helping to make my dream a reality.

lol. Well, if we learn that Easterby has Watson chained to a bed in his basement with broken legs and a dislocated shoulder, then I will cut Deshaun some slack.

For $111 million guaranteed, I'll let Easterby send my mom texts all day long. As long as they are not dong pics, of course.

Playing devil's advocate. What if he thought this was going to be resolved by a new GM without any ties to Easterby? Once Caserio was signed, wouldn't the power of three (Caserio + Easterby + Cal) > $111 million?

How do you fix that? Especially if you think that complaining to the triumvirate on Kirby would be pointless?
 
Based on snippets of easterby's "speeches", can we set up a BELT BUCKLE APPRECIATION page or thread? Since we all wear them, and people in California have surfboards tied to the roofs their cars.

I think he made it clear to Kyle that he wanted Jack gone, with his "some people think they have power" comment. But, Kyle professed his love for Jack every time he got close to a mic. I guess a $150 million franchise QB can't hold a candle to whatever Jack is providing Kyle.

I find this to be strange and weird but I don't find it alarming. What I find alarming is that Cal and Janice would endear themselves to this guy and turn their football team over to him. Now that's alarming!
 
Easterby has replaced BOB on this MB.

Easterby will be gone after next season, I wonder who will replace Easterby on this MB. There's only been 1 constant since the franchises inception.

I understand the philosophy behind it. You've a bunch a young 20s who for all practical purposes are out on their own for the first time with no support structure. They're truly on their own and don't know how to handle it. Most, likely come from a religious home so someone like an Easterby can be a real comforting factor and guidance to them. You just don't expect your Easterby to turn in to Jim Jones.

Good question. I enjoy the solid devil's advocate conversation.

Why was Deshaun so full of praise for Easterby in September 2020 if he ultimately wanted him gone, tho'? This is the part that doesn't jive with me. He specifically named Jack in his social media about being so happy with a long term deal in this city and the McNairs were so wonderful - according to his own words.

And there is no way to judge Caserio as a GM at this point. It's all starting to vibe like ulterior motives - and maybe some duplicity - by the player and his agent at this point.

The inherent problem with this is that it is all pure speculation right now.

This is the conclusion that I'm starting to arrive at, that Watson was all about that money but was never sincere about staying here. The franchise believed in him, guaranteed $111 million, gave him his no trade clause because the had every intention to build around him, and then a mere four months later his claws come out. Or rather his agent's claws, because Deshaun is clearly trying to avoid getting himself dirty with his own business decisions.

Yep. Easterby is just a symptom, not the cause. And the root cause will be here. . .f o r e v e r. . .

This organization has been dysfunctional well before September 2020. We've documented it as fans fairly well since 2004 on this forum. So Deshaun, especially being on the inside and seeing it firsthand, has NOBODY else to blame but himself for signing a long term deal with this franchise.

Now they hold all the leverage. The only option he's got to vacate is to roll around in the mud and get dirty, full public pouting and all. That's not a good look for a brand. It might sting a little, that accountability thing.

Or, he can man up and play ball for the contract he signed just a few months ago.

For the first time in Texans history the GM picked & hired the HC. Hopefully this signals a change in the way the Texans do business. With a silent owner.

For the first time in Texans history the GM picked & hired the HC with ZERO experience as a HC or OC and he can't even pick his own OC. Hopefully this signals a change in the way the Texans do business. With a foolish silent owner.

LMAO. Crip walking originated as a dance by California gangs. Although it's now mainstream and part of pop culture, I never imagine someone would associate Crip walking and Jesus. In fact, reading that it originated by gang members dancing after a murder or robbery, some people might find that statement offensive. That is jacked up. LOL

Here's my true struggle: How do you care about a franchise when you despise those that run and own it?

The more I see Jack talking, the more I just cringe and - I don't want to use the word hate here, but. . .

I'm having a disconnect, and as hard as I try to separate the football team from it's owner/management, I feel like I'm grasping at straws to even care in the most basic way.
