You should write articles for Yahoo! SportsPassing on Downs for Dell is not what I would have done
LZ’s comp is Darnell Mooney who went for over 1000 yards in 2021. I think he’s a weapon that transcends positional label. He can be moved all over the offense and be manufactured touches in a variety of ways. He’s not just going to be parked in one position with a limited route tree. This guy is a, “dial number when in need of big play” weapon that the team absolutely needed. It seems like I’m in the minority, but I don’t like the pick. He’s a guy that can only play the slot at this level and you already have Metchie for that. That leaves his primary contribution to special teams, and you don’t use a 3rd round pick on that when you have far more pressing needs.
I certainly hope you’re right, but he’s really no higher than 4th on the depth chart, probably 5th. I like the kid and hope he does well, I’m just iffy on the pick in the spot he was taken.LZ’s comp is Darnell Mooney who went for over 1000 yards in 2021. I think he did play some outside at UH. I though I read that in one of his scouting reports. It seems like I’m in the minority, but I don’t like the pick. He's a baller! He's got great hands, catches every freaking thing in his zip code.
It’s too bad his zip code is just so small. He's a baller! He's got great hands, catches every freaking thing in his zip code.
That's where having an accurate passer pays dividends. It’s too bad his zip code is just so small.
For sure. I'm stoked about the Stroud pick. And I don't think the Dell pick was bad, I just think it wasn't the right move (I like Scott better, but it looks like I'm the only one). That's where having an accurate passer pays dividends.![]()
Dude converted 73 first downs last year. That's a crazy stat, his athleticism makes his catch radius better, doesn't overcome everything but plenty of success to be had in the league at his size. He will be the primary KR I think, so his size will help him there quite a bit. It’s too bad his zip code is just so small.
I hope they find ways to get him involved on offense. We need playmakers.Dude was definitely electric for the Coogs. Hope that translates at the next level. Especially the scoring TDs part.
We're used to the Texans putting these guys on the bench & running a vanilla-bland offense. All he does is make plays and bring excitement. I know most Texans fans aren't accustomed to that.
This is a new regime. We're used to the Texans putting these guys on the bench & running a vanilla-bland offense.
If they use this guy like he "should" be used, it would be a new day in Houston.
Duke Johnson, remember him? There was only one reason to put him on this team... but that's not how we used him & there are similar examples...
There was a TE jack of all trades guy a while back. Barely active on game day.
Hard to imagine the Texans not putting him in the slot on an island on heavy run formations and giving him a chance to make big plays.I hope they find ways to get him involved on offense. We need playmakers.
I hate to think he'll be a PR/KR specialist.
I’d run him up the middle on first downWe're used to the Texans putting these guys on the bench & running a vanilla-bland offense.

I was just playing devil's advocate. But my examples spanned two regimes. This is a new regime.
OK. Buttchin. That's enough.I’d run him up the middle on first down
I tend to agree for the most part. But there was a span where you didn't know what you were getting because there were mutiple run/pass options from the same look. That was the strength of that offense. It was vanilla only when the coach at that time went too conservative.I was just playing devil's advocate. But my examples spanned two regimes.
We were a creative offense for about six games until rookie Watson got hurt. Other than that, since 2002 we line them up WYSIWYG offense.
I hope that is changing.
Looks like a good pick but he looks like "SpottemGottem" in that picture. If he was holding a wad of cash and rapping badly that would be him!
That's what she said.Insert Tank Dell.
