Week 5 Gameday Thread: Buffalo the Bills

I gotta a question. Now that we've seen the new H-Town uniforms, what did yall think of them? They were kinda of meh to me. I really like that helmet, always have since I first saw it. But the uniforms were nothing special. I thought the H-Town logo in the middle of the field looked good.

I thought the uniforms were okay mostly, but the red numbers looked plastic

Best unis in the NFL hands down.

Sure, some wont like it. But they are fresh and stand out.

Yeah I was thinking at half, Slowik up 17-3, he’s going conservative hoping to waste the clock and the bills would eventually click because of the wasted opportunities
He's from the Kubiak branch of the Shannahan tree doing that crap. I think not having a true FB is hurting the offense. The Shannahan offense uses them in a variety of ways.

They are OK..Maybe a little busy

Personally, I think someone got into a bad stash and threw darts at a color wheel and then darts at an anatomy poster to decide where to put the previous darts color.

That said, at least its not neon or ketchup.

I've had a black Honda Civic Hatchback for 6 years and a black pickup before that so I just
like black ! I also like the new helmet logo, so I'm very pleased with the new look.

so damn lucky
We won and that is all that matters. Finding ways to win when the deck is stacked against you is what separates the good teams from the bad. The KC Chiefs find ways to win and they have titles to show for it. I will take luck if that means we are like the Chiefs. The Bills had a lousy game last week but they are no slouch and even with Nico out and poor play calling in the second half by Slowick we hung in there and found a way to win the game. Defensively when it mattered most we stopped the Bills offense.

Nah. They've got at least 6 in the bag. They play the tAcks twice and the Jaguars again. Other than that, I'm having flashbacks of 2013.
Actually I got ahead of myself. There have been some blowouts by teams but not usually back to back and teams that have been blown out were in close games the next week. Nobody has stepped up to be the runaway favorites in my opinion. That may change in the coming weeks but at this time the league seems to have a lot of parity.

In the short term, absolutely the rest doesn't matter.

In the long term though I wouldn't say it's the only thing. Sloppiness has been a recurrent theme which is why I can celebrate the win, without ignoring the reason for concern.

I'll take the win, but I don't see us hobbling our way through the playoffs to a championship if shooting ourselves in the foot remains our signature.

Every team has ugly wins, every team shoots their foot now and then.... but it shouldn't be like clockwork.

Yay the win!.... but if the win makes you ignore legitimate issues, the long term... a win is to your detriment.

It's a jersey I might want to wear. But I don't really like to watch. If that makes sense.

Close up they're probably fine. On TV the red bleeds into the black borders on the jersey, and they don't look crisp, just a lot of dark colors, like someone put their finger on each player and smeared the colors. You can't makeout the H-town on the helmets, on TV anyway. They need to re-think those colors, maybe get some white involved.

I'm not a graphic designer. And I don't play one on TV. But I do know that dark characters on a dark background are difficult to read. The Houston blue on the outline is not large enough. Looks like it needs a full rev 2.0.

Anyone have any information on the Schultz "unnecessary" roughness call, when he softly rolled the ball down the field?

Consolation is the 1st half the Texans looked how they could and should. They had Josh Allen completely frustrated. Poor play calling, bad special teams play and our own bit of frustration breathed life back into our penalty machine.

Nico is valuable to this team. Slowick needs to learn to utilize his other weapons, we have plenty.
Diggs 6/8 and 82 yards plus Hutch had a couple; Add in Schultz .

Slowik isn't really running a Shannahan offense. It has elements of it, but it's not featuring TEs or FBs. It's actually more of a spread offense. I think he was chosen too soon as an OC and Stroud keeps bailing him out. You can't live in 3rd & long and succeed for long. I don't really know what Slowik's philosophy is after 24 games. He's all over the place and doesn't seem to know who does what well. Today Akers got a few carries for very good YPC. Ogumbowele got a lot of carries for 2.0 ypc. WTF? Ogumbowole did some good things towards the end of the game, but what could Akers have done? Slowik tries to be too cute for me. I attribute it to a lack of experience and arrogance.

Ogunbowale excels at pass protection. During the Colts game, there was a play where Tunsil passed off a rusher to him and he picked it up like a seasoned guard. He's also a good receiver. Both of these abilities open up the playbook even more. If he could improve at running the ball, it would keep defenses guessing.

And if we want to take advantage of it our 2nd half performance needs to match the first half.
