Week 4 Game Thread: Texans Have Shovel Ready to Bury Jags

We struggled early like this last year with terrible losses to ATL and Carolina and the team got it together.

We’re not sneaking up on anyone this year. On the 1 hand it’s encouraging that the team is finding ways to win despite all these damn penalties…on the other, we can’t be considered serious contenders until we get this issue under reasonable control.

There is a difference between “getting it together” and making the playoffs and “getting it together” and being a serious Super Bowl contender.

The expectations have changed. We expected a Super Bowl contender and rightfully so. This team looks like a first round wild card exit team so far. Just barely good enough to beat the non playoff teams. Will get thumped by a serious contender the way they are playing.

I am probably in that group and it may have been a lil premature, but I still think we haven't hit our stride yet and better play is coming...I hope :hides:

Obviously it’s looking premature. But you don’t trade for Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon then sign Danielle Hunter and hand out among the most guaranteed money of any team this offseason just to win an AFC South banner.

Making the SB..you gotta be good, but also lucky. It’s Week 4. I don’t care as much about how the team looks in September…I care more about what they look like in December and January.

I suppose your right but I am disappointed in how bad we look
Pretty good isn’t going to cut it against a contender that’s hot right now like the Bills. If they don’t iron out several issues, they could exposed next week as paper tigers.
We statistically owned the first half. Without the stupid penalties it may not have had to come down to a game winning drive.

On top of that outside of last week's game the Jags have been competitive. A lot can happen in the course of a season.

The Saints looked like a scary team a couple weeks ago and now they have come back to earth.

I haven't seen any team legitimately make a case for Super Bowl favorite.

Yes, all of the penalties.

Hate to say this the coaching has been terrible. This team is so undisciplined it's really sad. and Ryans said earlier this week they were working on cleaning up the penalties. LMAO

I don’t think it is all about a lack of discipline. Inferior players try to cheat and gain an advantage. And our offensive lineman seem to be inferior, especially LT. He has been revealed as a total fake today. If he can’t false start, then he needs to hold.
He had his 1st holding call of the season today and it was on a play where Stroud was scrambling in the backfield.

YES! I GOT A Texaspenguin dislike! I've finally arrived 😂
You earned that one.

I don't want to get into the Tunsil stuff. Only Tunsil can fix this. But if possible, it's time to sit Kenyon Green.

I thought he was super at College Station. He played through tough injuries as a rookie. Missed his entire 2nd year. Green seemed to get back in shape and deliver on his 1st round promise. But he's making too many mental mistakes. Not ready for stunts. Getting downfield on passes. Kenyon doesn't have a feel for the game. Which is sad, because he has the physical ability to be a winning player. He's trying. Kenyon Green just is not ready to start in the NFL and he's hurting this team.

Could start Fisher and move Howard over

You need Swift to work the refs. She is already taken.
IF she becomes synonymous with the Texans...... they may as well move to Tennessee cause like the last team... I'd be done.

Im not quite at the point of loathing KC because of her... yet.... but.... it is definitely approaching.

I hate when people do this. Looking at the game in a vacuum. Yeah, if Sims doesn’t muff a punt at the 5 yd. Line and effectively spot the jags 7 pts…& CJ hits Nico at the end of the 1st half for that TD pass he missed on WE still win.

See how that works
I think the point was that Lawrence did not have the ability to take advantage of our swiss cheese secondary. That will not be the case when we start playing some of the probowl QBs on our schedule like next week, so we need to get better fast.

Lawrence had 169 yds passing today. So Hardly Swiss cheese. I don’t disagree with what you’re saying overall, but what you’re saying holds true for every team. Any given Sunday if u don’t bring your A game you can get beat by anyone, good or bad.

on at least 1 of those throws our defense had a little something to do with why Lawrence missed that throw; had folks at his feet to where he couldn’t follow thru. That kinda stuff happens to every qb every game; you miss throws u should hit. See CJ at the end of the half today to Nico.

Our secondary will be taken advantage of far more next week by Allen than Lawrence can.

Don’t be so sure. Lawrence really has better weapons on the outside than Allen does. The Bills are more likely to take advantage of our LBs in the passing game with their backs out of the backfield and TE’s than their WR group and the secondary.

But if what you say happens, what you’re saying …….. really says nothing considering 1 guy is a perennial MVP candidate and the other has gone almost a year without winning a game. IOW’s it was likely to happen anyway.

Am I right though?

Have we finally decided that Allen is a better QB and a much better person than Derrick is?

All I am saying is Lawrences poor performance had a lot more to do with him than our secondary, which were beat multiple times. I have concerns this is going to be something opposing teams will continue to take advantage of. Richardson in week one and Darnold in week 3 also had several big plays against our porous secondary

No you’re not b/c if WE convert on all the missed opportunities we had, we still win 😆
So in other words if we played a perfect game while converting on all our opportunities we would win, assuming of course the Jags aren’t given that same grace. Deep. Seemed to me Lawrence missed far more opportunities than CJ did.
