Week 2 Gameday Thread: Bring on 'Da Bears!

“I can’t tell who is hitting me so let me swing on the first person FURTHEST from the play”. Zero justification.
He didn't know the guy he hit was "furthest ". Al-Shaair was moving; trying to defend himself and get away. The guy he hit wasn't too far away as he did get tagged.

Where does PFF come up with their grades? Who watched Kaimi make NFL history last night and decided, “His grade is a 60…”

That has been explained and you might be able to find it with a search here or on your search engine. Very few take PFF as the last resort but only as a tool for some information..

Punching a player who is not in the game or involved in anything is undisciplined thug behavior that will become exploited by elite teams. And undisciplined teams don’t win championships.
Society has become weak which is why the term "toxic masculinity" is even a thing. Sometimes a nice hard punch to the jaw is required, and often it even creates the best of friends after.

But yes, let's concern ourselves with being called a "thug" and allow the other team to walk all over us.

I cannot stand thugs or bullies and do not want any on the texans. However, as you say, defending yourself regardless of who in the mob around you gets hit is not being a thug. You apologize later if necessary.

Nothing you mentioned had anything to do with the players on the field, or involved on the sideline. If I remember correctly, quite a few of you on this board hated Ndamukong Suh and wanted him burned at the stake for what he did to Schaub on Thanksgiving. So now it’s okay to have a bunch of Suh’s on the team because of Demeco. Guys who can’t control their emotions and throw punches at anybody right?

That will cost games if you aren’t disciplined now. Bad habits build.

I blame Taylor Swift.
You know… I watched the Chiefs game and honestly… every time they put the cameras on her… she was -wildly cheering- for her team. Her entourage also. She’s a rabid football fan. She’s not like those other celbs sitting still in their seats. So yeah… I’m now softening up on all the Taylor Swift, I’d rather watch her jump up and down cheering instead of watching Jack Nicholson whisper into someone else’s ear for the 28475827th time.

The team the past two weeks has shown signs of undisciplined football. The corners are struggling to cover and communicate. Stroud has happy feet and at times is inaccurate. The OL making stupid false start penalties. They need to clean up their act before we play better teams.

All in all, happy they are 2-0. Good teams find ways to win tough games even against inferior opponents, and they have done just that. Vikings will be tough this week.
I'll go ahead and say it, the team hasn't been well coached this season. But Ryans is a great gameday HC.

No but was hoping to see a bit more fireworks by the offense than a bunch of field goals and only 1 TD the entire game in a very favorable matchup in primetime. But good teams find a way to win even when not playing their best. And I do think we are a good team. Time will tell if we are a great team.

What I saw yesterday was a far cry from having a bunch of Suh's on our team.

That said, we are 2-0 and I am not singling your comments out just to be argumentative. I think this is a simple case of people being brought up to view things differently and react differently. What you call "can't control emotions", I call "not being a Beta".

But hey.... that difference in upbringing and viewpoint is why there are Alphas and Betas. It's natural.

I have no issues with Nico Collins or Azeez Al-Shaair retaliating the way they did during the game. Sure....future incidents like these could hurt the team in the long run. BUT, the fact these two didn't take no shiizz will also assure these things don't happen in the future. I don't know what cause Shaair to punch that guy on the sidelines, but rest assured it was called for, the cameras just didn't catch it the way it caught Collins being poked thru the face mask. These Bears players were trying to be something, and our boys where up to the challenge. These Texans are not going to be anyones pushover.
Quoted for truth.

The Raiders and Steelers used to win championships with the attitude of I'll kick your butt on the field and that includes your sideline, my sideline, in the lockerroom, the parking lot etc... I like this attitude. This isn't a Sunday social.

He must be hitting that right.

Only problem is... this isn't that league any more.

I love the old style, absolutely.

Back then, it was an asset. Now, its a liability.

Having the attitude is fine. Actually taking a swing is simply not smart.

Two teams who haven’t won recently….Clearly not the same game either, because those sort of things back then were not penalized like today. Like I said, undisciplined play will get Stroud targeted.

The rules back in the day were glaringly contrasting to today's rules..............PEDs, amphetamine, steroids all routinely allowed and used.................player bounties routine...................NFL player protective rules non-existent.....................disciplining virtually non-existent.

Teams are expected to adapt to the contemporary league rules of the day. Play tough, within the existing rules.

Exactly! And as a result of that attitude… I’ll give ‘em a bit leeway.
Exactly

I would rather the team I root for be over aggressive occasionally, rather than be passive even if it costs them a few penalty yds. I'm sure somebody said something to Al Shaair on the sideline that caused him to throw a punch at Johnson. Not saying he did the right thing, but I can understand why he did what he did. I doubt he gets suspended, probably fined though.

Yup. Nobody’s bashing Nico for *****-slapping Stevenson. It wasn’t smart….

Or was it? I mean… the man scored a DOMINATING TD on the next play to where he literally THREW the DB’s body over the end zone.

Lol.

Yeah… Collins can ***** slap anyone he wants. Just keep scoring those TD’s and all will be well.

Ummm…I think someone else mentioned that the Bears have a top 5 defense. Give them a little credit.

Oh BTW..before anyone here gets excited about our running game. The Colts are NOT that good. Their run defense absolutely sucks ass. The other two teams in our division aren’t anything to write home about either.

Let it freaking go. Is this the only reason why you come on here. Dude was defending himself after a bunch of Bears players and coaches surrounded him.
It is not a big freaking deal dude. Jesus

if anyone should draw a Suh-type of “worry”… it would be British Brooks.

The man received a fine from the NFL for a hit that he did in the -first- quarter of the -first- ever NFL game that he was playing in. I mean… the man wasn’t even DRAFTED. He just walked on and blew down that kick returner last week. He might be a “problem” child with his hard hitting already drawing fines.

Come on now with the Al-Shaair hate.

I’ll give you one guess as to why I’m so pissed off about it. Use your thinking cap. Part of the hint is in my username. Then look at #23 of the Bears. You’ll figure it out.

I’d still be upset if there were no ties into it. Not like this.

"Undisciplined teams don't win championships"

Yes they do.
Is Kansas City undisciplined? I would encourage you to re-read your statement. Because you can’t find any team in any sport in this current era that is undisciplined and wins championships.

Kansas City lead the league in penalties.

They're incredibly undisciplined.

I'd encourage you to know what you're talking about.
And their offense is so efficient for each penalty they get, they will draw two on the opposing defense. The Texans ranked higher in penalties last year.

They have a player who got in trouble this off season back in his hometown Dallas Tx.

I can go on but I’m not. Just crazy how quickly some people throws the thug crap around.

They were 6th most penalized last year when they won. Don’t see that as leading the league. But the Texans did rank ahead.
So the 6th most penalized team is a disciplined team in your opinion? That also has players who get suspended as well.

Face it. The Chiefs ARE NOT a disciplined team. At all.

Pretty sure the 49ers are up there too. Basically the Superbowl is incredibly penalized undisciplined teams but "you can't win being undisciplined".

"thug" nonsense is what it is, nonsense.

Now was throwing a punch stupid? Yes. Mostly because the other guy is wearing a helmet and you're only ever going to hurt yourself.

Not every team has Patrick Mahomes. So penalties don’t really matter to the Chiefs. What I do know, is their head coach isn’t out in the media making excuses for a player feeling in “fear of his safety” by a crowd of players on THEIR own sideline and justifying his actions. Demeco comes off as a coward. Either hold your players accountable or don’t. You will see how that works.
