I was impressed with our defense tonight. Five interceptions against a QB with one of the best ratios in the league is a statement.

But zero points again in the second half is inexcusable. Any offense trending like that isn't even mediocre. Just unacceptable with the QB we have.
CJ carried a significant blame for the inexcusable loss. His decisions were less than acceptable in the 2nd half. In that half, he completed just 5 of 13 passes for 68 yards and two interceptions for a 16.3 passer rating. His performance was highlighted by the lowlight play where he inexplicably grossly underthrew the pass to a wide open Dell in the EZ.............a pass which if completed would have undoubtedly sealed a victory.

How do you lose a game in which your opposing QB is intercepted 5 times.............and should have been 6 times, but Stingley couldn't handle a 6th one? The Texans are only the 2nd team since 1933 to lose despite having 5 interceptions and building a lead of at least 15 points. The last time this happened was in 1970 when the Chicago Bears lost to the Baltimore Colts as quarterback Johnny Unitas threw five interceptions.

Some around here say he deserves no blame lol

Thank God...

I thought we were the only ones.

You do know that's not the way he drew it up?

Despite all that there was a 3rd & 6, or 3rd & 4 i can't remember, Stroud made a good throw to Hutch past the sticks & we were robbed by a blatant no call.

Had Kai'imi made that field goal the Lions have to drive the length of the field & we probably win.

If our defense gets that stop on 3rd & 6 we go to overtime.

Again it wasn't pretty but Slowick did enough.

Could have been better. Should have blown out the best team in the NFC, a bona-fide Super Bowl contender. But they didn't. I'm not ready to throw the baby out with the bath water. We're too close to start all over again.
Unless Slowik shows he can overcome other teams half time adjustments next week he will need to be replaced!

Scruggs looked just as bad ad LG as C. The only reason that he didn't get entirely mowed down every play is because of Tunsil and Patterson being his flanks.
Now maybe some will understand what was wrong with the OL. You had a guy who sucked playing LG and a center who had to make OL calls and still sucks when he doesn't have to make OL calls. I'm pretty sure Scruggs isn't the brightest bulb out there.

The light bulb needs to come on quick for Juice. I know he has had some injuries but as a 2nd round pick, I expected him to be better in year 2. @CloakNNNdagger do you know if he's completely healthy? I wonder if he was a nervous pick since Tippmann and Schmitz had come off the board, if I recall we had to trade into the 2nd rd to get Juice.

Stop it with the “blatant non call”. The refs missed a helmet to helmet on Goff too. The refs didn’t blow that lead and that excuse is weak and unacceptable.
It's difficult to expect perfect officiating when we can't get perfect execution from players. But, at least the players are doing what they can to be the best they can be. Practicing and meeting during the week to prepare for the game. The refs are doing day jobs during the week and show up at the game. Not to mention that the league doesn't utilize all the technology available to improve officiating games. Those calls may not be missed with full time refs whose jobs depend on getting call right. And the officials could easily be aided by real time monitoring of the game from different camera angles. Therefore, critiquing officiating is valid.

Folks are acting like it cost them the game. It didn’t. No one expects the players to be perfect. It is expected however to not waste 5 interceptions. That is unheard of.

There has been criticism of Tippmann and Schmitz the past 2 seasons, as well. Maybe it was just a bad year for drafting Centers. Or maybe Center is a position that a player is made into, rather than born.

What should be understood is that in a tight game, the little things matter. Getting the calls right on the field is one of those things. Not the only thing. So players, coaches, and officials (therefore the league) deserve to be critiqued. No one is above criticism.

I expect the refs to be consistent, get the big calls right. Teams should be allowed to challenge calls like this.

The fact it became a tight game is why I’m not concerned about that call. There was a big enough lead where it shouldn’t have mattered. The Texans let it get to a point where they needed to rely on one call. Also, that was not an egregious no call. It was still a bad throw into coverage from CJ. Texans’ fans have got to let go of blaming the refs all the time.

There have been worse non calls. And that’s not going to get called in the final minutes of the game. If that call had been called against the Texans on defense, this place would have exploded. It’s quite a double standard.

I just want to as a fan to see a game that has a good flow and isn't decided by bad officials calls.

What posters on here want doesn't really matter to me.

My point stands about what I want. It was an obvious call. I'm not one of the double standard guys.

Scruggs was brought back too soon from his groin tear in week 2 (only 9 days). He lost essentially all of 2023 to a hamstring injury.............something that he was still rehabbing from what I heard into the preseason............which I suspect led to the groin injury as a compensatory injury. He was still having issues with the groin up until week 6. I have not heard anything since.

I wonder what you guys watch and are expecting sometimes. Scruggs held his own for the most part..especially in the 1st half. His block was the block that sprung Mixon on that screen pass that went for 37 yards in the 1st half. In the 2nd half, when protection did start to break down for CJ, alot of it was coming from that right side.

Did he lose some battles? sure, no player wines every single match up, play in/out. But I don't recall seeing Scruggs get beat anywhere close to this or how Kenyon Green was getting beat regularly. If Stingley comes down with the int on this play, that would've been all on Sewell.

& that was pretty much all night with Sewell when Hunter got matched up with him. Autry even put him on his @#$ SEVERAL times. Does that make the all-pro Sewell "bad"?

Pierce needs to get and stay healthy.
This has been a trend just like they kept running the fullback who couldn't block out there. Mixon needs to play as many snaps as possible especially with Nico and Diggs out. What makes him a high end player is he's a 3 down back, but they've been playing him as a 2 down guy. Instead of giving him 25 rushes up the middle, how about 15 runs and 6 passes?

Yep, Mason has been terrible only to be overshadowed by Green and Tunsil moving early
