Week 10: Detroit Lions @ Houston Texans (Sunday Night Football and Battle Red Game)

Who you think winning?

A very very very disappointing loss for the Texans last week against the Jets. Texans struggled with injuries last week and our O-line forgot how to do there job. All I gotta say is 8 sacks. That number and seeing C.J getting hurt twice should be motivation for Strausser and this O-line to be doing there damn job. Surprised Strausser even has a job at the moment. Texans also need Patterson back after the Concussion suffered against Indy. We were driving the ball good with him on the line. Nico should be back this week which will be amazing for C.J after the huge loss of Diggs. We need Christian Harris, Azeez, and Ward back, plain and simple. These are crucial injuries and will be a huge if they play Sunday. I would love to see Caserio make some moves for a last minute receiver or a lineman, he said he was calling around the league. Houston still also has a 2 game lead in the South with the Vikings win last night so that's huge. Colts will be facing Buffalo. The Lions lost Aiden Hutchinson after that gruesome leg injury a few weeks ago which is a plus ig for our o-line since they can't block anymore ig. Never want to see a guy like him get hurt. I'm looking forward to the Battle Red unis, they look fire. Houston "has" a 34% chance to win this game in Houston. I love being the underdog at home. Prove them wrong and shock the league. Go Texans!🤘🏻

Barring a miracle the Texans will be 6-3 after Sunday night. Which doesn't mean miracles don't happen, but I wouldn't count on it.

We'll still win the division and lay an egg wildcard weekend. No offensive line = not very far in the playoffs.

Ya, this game could be really ugly. I'm betting the over, I think this will be a shootout. O/U is at 48.5 on ESPN BETS

We play better at NRG. We are about to shock the entire league. Detroit is fun to watch and I hoping we can show the NFL we are forreal. Hopefully with Collins back, we can start to stretch the field more with the vertical passing game. I'm excited to see the new Battle Red look with the candy paint helmets. Texans walk off the field 7-3 and protect NRG.

Unless Meco and Bobby have been mad scientists and suddenly decide to be good coaches, this team is getting absolutely curb stomped on national TV. Early prediction... 38 to 17 Lions.

This team is like Lucy and the NFL is Charlie Brown. Every time the NFL decides to believe this team is prime-time worthy, the Texans/Lucy pulls the football and CB ends up kicking air and landing on his butt. The Texans will prove once again that they are the true not ready for prime-time players. It's been this way for 22 years and it will be this way for 22 more, if I'm alive to see it.

The Lions DL destroyed GB OL and will be even more aggressive than the Jets. We should put a TE as FB to help protect our QB. I know it means giving up a offensive target but it may at least slow down the hits on ou QB. We are in the process of endangering the future of our QB with long lasting nagging injuries. Trade deadline

Just a question for @steelbtexan.... should we bench Stroud so that he doesn't have any risk of being injured?

If we get a healthy Nico back, and CJ doesn't get sacked 8 times and we don't turn the ball over or give away a million penalties, we maybe can not embarrass ourselves

This game will be the real litmus test for the Texans.
The Lions are the best team in the NFC so if you have SB aspirations, then you have a chance to prove it to yourselves in this game.
As simple as that.

Texans just signed OG Jerome Carvin to the practice squad. Carvin allowed 3 sacks in college at Tennessee.

Solid pickup then! Start him at left guard if Patterson out.
If he was all that I think his transaction history might look a bit better. He's a warm body and likely tpo be not much more. Hold your water

This is one of those games that could turn alot of the good will Meco has enjoyed here, into vitriol with some fans if we come out and get rolled. As of late, he's gotten more than a few passes on some game/team management stuff that other HC's here got roasted for in years past. The Lions are on a heater right now & looking like the best team in the league. Weapons, speed & toughness galore.

The only thing we have going for us is that we know where our issues are & we have a little more time to where we can take some drastic steps to attempt to try to address them. Kenyon's out for the season so at a minimum we're gonna see some type of change there. Perhaps a shuffle of the o-line is in order too? Nico MAY be back, so there's a little change we could get there as well.

Albeit not as long, we used to see lulls in our offense like this with Kubiak too..... even when we had Foster. What i hope to see Sunday night is a re-tooled offensive strategy; with or without Nico. We either need to incorporate more quick game and tempo & change our audible plays to something else......or we need to run our offense through Mixon and the run game..like, to the point teams have to sell out to stop him when he's got it going & effectively turn CJ into a game manager. Slowik just has to adjust & do something different...& i don't mean a damn HB pass either.

Win or lose, the most important thing for me to see from this team right now is a back to basics approach & some competence on the offensive side of the ball.

-Put your guys in a good position with your playcalling Slowik
- Take what the defense gives you CJ & don't forget about your legs.
- Show some nastiness & keep CJ off his back o-line

Rolling with the Lions. Until they prove they can block, I won’t pick the Texans. They have looked predictable on both sides of the ball. 3rd & short and your corner will be 10 yards off. Shaq Mason is trash. If we lose this I hope the lions put up 50 points and shut us out to 0 points.

Nothing will happen. They can lose 51-7 and all you will hear is coach speak. “Gotta coach better, gotta play better” etc.
I hope it isnt like that in the locker room. I get it, praise when praise is warranted. That Oline has done nothing to be praised. That needs to be a good ol arse chewing in the locker room!
“Do your got dam job or I will sit your arse down and find someone who will! You’re getting our QB killed! Unacceptable! Get your HOOA’s!!”

Texans offense won't cross midfield.

Texans won't score unless they get a turnover.

Texans won't score any TDs.

Lions 99.25
Texans 78

Carebear will kick two FGs. The rest will be to keep track of the Lions score cause the 99.25 is a numerical error as the score can not go any higher.

CJ gets his steps in on his fit bit.... so... at least theres that.

Hmmm.
If the Patriots couldn't find a spot for him it makes you wonder.

I voted for us to win which I doubt will happen but if I'm being optimistic, I will say uhh.. they’re undefeated after games they’ve lost. Lions pass rush doesn’t scare me with Hutchinson out. Kenyon Green isn’t playing. Offensive line gets a full week of practice. They’re playing at home so there’s that. Uh.. some key players will be back. Texans will play with extra motivation after getting embarrassed on prime time. 2/3 of the Texans losses have been by one possession. I believe Cj can beat any team if he’s given time. Hopefully this line looks better

A lot will hinge on how good we are with injuries.

I believe Al Shaair was a huge loss, had a couple of special teamers and a street FA covering his absence, they’ve done well considering but it’s a big jump in performance, and that position has a big impact up front and in the secondary.

Is Patterson ready to play at LG? Saw some worrying PFF grades about Kendrick in the last game, I know he was an emergency LG but his pass blocking grade was actually worse than Kenyon’s(!). My eye isnt good on OL, I see the great blocks and I see the times they fall on their arse but I tend to miss the stuff in between, so maybe others will have a view on that?

RG also a huge issue, and whether Scruggs is to blame for the protection calls is another matter.

Frustration is that last year Strausser got all that crap figured out and at least bought CJ time to get the quick throws off. This year there seems to be continuing regression not improvement.

Agreed. I was shocked at Kendricks grade. I knew he gave up some pressures but didn’t think it was that bad.

Overall man.. I’m disappointed in our evaluation of talent on the offensive line. I don’t understand how the offensive line was better last season when they were basically a week to week shuffle.

Caserio built this Oline, haven't heard a peep from him. & sure, slowik playcalling is stupid a lot of times. Teams have adjusted and maybe Cj made his scheme look better than what it was last season. Defenses have adjusted after learning his scheme and we haven’t scored a td in the 2nd half since week 5.

The big difference this year is Scruggs at center. Much as I want to, I just can't get around that. There is absolutely no cohesion on the line. It's each man for himself, and they all suck
