He wasn't an alien on the football field yesterday. He was damn sure human.
Its time to end all of this "Watson is God's QB" over everyone else until he actually goes to a SB.
There are other QB's around this league that are deserving of praise when they have a long stretch of success. Stop diminishing anyone who does, because in the end you just make Watson a target of criticism when you give such strong bias against everyone else.

Thanks for posting. Watson had a bad game, but his OL, HC and OC were just as bad. Also, it answers the question about why the Texans didn’t run the previous game plan.
After the first quarter, the Ravens stop their game plan and the Texans did not have an answer so they reverted to what they know. O’Brien’s ineffective, slow developing plays.
You mean those slow developing plays where Watson was throwing the ball at his receivers feet? Of course plays look like there slow when the QB is holding the ball too long.ook at the plays that the turnovers happened on, those were not slow developing plays. Those are a confused QB holding on to the ball too long.

I counted out the seconds on several of those "run around" behind the LOS plays by the clock...............Watson having 10-11 seconds to decide what he needed to do.

Watson is not a perfect qb. I believe some of the sacks are on him, but if you watched this game, the los was reset on him almost every pass play. They got manhandled on both sides. Ravens have better talent on both lines, and on the back 7, that's not debatable. Lamar in the design always have a clean pocket. Where were the middle screens to the rbs? What about moving the pocket, up tempo? Not only that, nothing looks like nothing. They're all isolated plays when I watch.

Steelb you dont hate Watson do you? I know you get a certain rep here. Let's clarify.
I dont hate Watson at all and actually like watching him play. He's too inconsistent for my tastes and doesn't seem to be making progress. (Reading defenses/Getting rid of the ball etc....) In short I dont think you can win a SB with Watson at QB.
This rubs alot of posters the wrong way. But I call it like I see it.

-I've seen some progress in 3 years. He's young and I expect some growing pains. That said, he's also had some bad games. He shouldve had 2 more picks last night he didnt.

I kinda agree here. Mostly because he'll need a strong supporting cast no matter what. He doesn't have that yet.

That's a fair point. Watson has some big shoes to fill to equal youngs highs though. SY might be my all time favorite QB by the way. I loved watching that guy play.

I don't know where Watson really ranks or what he will become in the future. I personally think he's a pretty good QB & and with the right coach & scheme could make it to the super bowl. I admit that I'm biased and probably blinded by hope.
What I do know because it's pure numbers (no opinion involved) is that O'Brien has a losing record in regular season games that Watson did not start and a winning record when he has started.

Saying DW hasn't made progress in 3 years is absolutely ridiculous and should pretty much sum up the football iq (or bias, or both) of whoever makes the statement.
I thought this would be the yr for Watson to grow and mature into the QB he could be. A team is only as good as it's QB which is why the Texans have looked so inconsistent this yr.
As far as the 3 yr plan, I will have to make that decision after I see next yr play out. But if they aren't contenders then I will have to start to agree with you.
Tell me where he's made progress before making this post. I've pointed out where he hasn't made progress and would love to see the other side of the coin.

He's made some progress. His knee injury slowed him some. But QB's get better with what? Reps, time, and coaching.
I think this Texans offense when healthy is a strong enough supporting cast to win. The rest of the "cast"....not sure on that one.

So you think he can play great 3 games in a row against playoff caliber defenses. I hope you're right but if it happens that would be a sign of consistency that Watson has yet to show so far in his NFL career.

I didn't answer that question, probably on purpose. The stars would have to align perfectly for that to happen.
Do I think he is capable, yes. Do I think the offensive coaches are capable, no. I'm just not sold on OB the OC. He's not a terrible coach, I just don't have the faith in him to get the very best out of Watson every game.
- He was criticized early on for throwing picks. His int % has fallen from a 3.8 his rookie season to less than 2 now. Massive progress right off the bat.
- He was criticized for a careless running style that was inevitably injury-prone. He's become a thoroughly judicious runner who I can't remember the last time he ran himself into a big hit.
- He was criticized for his deep ball accuracy. Thursday night 4-4 on balls traveling 30+ yards in the air. I believe hearing that that had never been done before in one game. By anyone. Ever.
- He was criticized for holding the ball too long trying to extend plays. While this is still something that is a part of his 'never defeated' dna, which cannot be said to be a total negative, he's shown evidently that when plays are dialed up that get the ball out of his hands quickly with route design offering him timely targets he's entirely capable of executing that efficient style of qb play.

You think hes been better as of late than his first 6 game stretch? I dont know the stats. Maybe he has but I doubt it.
He shouldve had 2 more ints against the colts then how he finished.
Running judiciously. I remember that complaint very briefly. Never really a problem I think.
When was he criticized for deep ball accuracy? Maybe he connected more last night then usual but that was never a minus. Was his completion on those an outlier or a standard? We'll see.
Explain carolina and Baltimore.
- Yes.
- Every qb has bad throws that don't show up in the box score that aren't mentioned at-large. Every qb.
- It was a big problem for his critics, which was the point.
- Earlier in his career when he had games missing good looks deep. Hell, this year he had the infamous 'working out late at night' episode after missing a few balls and his improvement was seen pretty quickly due to his diligence.
- Explain Tom Brady going 14/27 for 140 an 0 tds with 1 int in the middle of his all-time 2007 run. For f*ck f*ck*ng sake, bad games happen to everybody. Even GOATS, and particularly youngsters on their come up.
Now, do you need anymore explaining on the game of football?
I think there's no way BOB/Watson win a SB together. A bad match, I think Watson has to change his style of play and not turn the ball over and BOB needs to throw the ball more on 1st downs.
What do you think it will take to get the best out of Watson regardless if BOB's the HC or they hire another HC?

He struggles against really good defenses that make him throw from the pocket. He hardly ever steps up into the pocket and delivers an accurate ball. he has a tendency to drift to his right. The Baltimore game he had a case of happy feet which is worrisome. He certainly hasn't improved reading defenses and against top teams he will continue to struggle. The last 2 games against these types of teams he's been putrid to bad. IMHO I think Watson is who he is and that isn't good enough to win a SB. Feel free to disagree with me if you wish.

Most great QB's play their best in big games. Not what we saw Sunday/Thursday. Even though they won Thursday.
