We're still in much better shape healthwise than the Niners.
True, but I think their HC & QB trumps ours....

I like very diluted Gatorade. Water alone isn't really good enough for high end athletes. That or water and pickle juice.
I explain some of the read-option/pistol stuff in the blog:
http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2013/08/2013-houston-texans-training-camp-week-1/
Originally on 7/29 Kubiak said that they were going to run some read-option as a look but is not their strength. Pistol not mentioned.
Then a couple days later, they ran some pistol. Nobody asked him about it after the practice. Somebody told LZ Kubiak had already said pistol just a look.
But because I knew coach wasn't asked specifically about pistol, I asked him about it the next day, and he said it was something they were looking at.
Tate seems like he's always injured. He's had one good year with us, missed a year, and one crappy injury plagued year. Beginning to smell like a bust to me.

Brooks reed getting a ice pack applied to his knee. Walking around with a noticeable limp.
The only position on this team I have a concern with: OLB. ****.

Kubiak: DE J.J. Watt w/ sore elbow but not a real concern. Brooks Reed banged knees with someone during practice but is OK. #Texans

Gary Kubiak says Arian Foster's calf is fine. He didn't work today because of a sore back.
Ben Tate and Whitney Mercilus on bikes and not practicing
Sam Montgomery dressed and working out. But doesn't have shoulder pads on. Won't go full but good sign.
Alan Bonner sitting out with a hamstring issue. Sharpton is back and dressed. He is in shoulder pads like everyone else.
Interesting note. JJ Watt is wearing his elbow brace for the first time offseason. Looked to have tweaked his elbow Thursday.
Andre Johnson with a huge leaping grab over the middle.
Brooks Reed was down getting looked at by trainers. They were looking at his knee. He has walked off the practice field .
Watt leaves team drills to work on third field with injuries players. Don't look to into it though.
Brooks Reed leaves the trainers table and grabs his helmet and heads back to the field.
Brian Cushing in with team drills. Getting more work than he has all camp in terms of participation.
I see that #Texans are an open camp today. I can tweet.
Biggest note is that Darryl Sharpton is a full go today.
Crick keeps getting better looking good once again.
Cushing out on the field today. Looks like he still trying to get the feel for it.
Hopkins one again showing his ball skills. Deep ball from Schaub goes up and gets it over Kareem
Braman having a tough time once again in the run game.
Terrell McClain and Darryl Sharpton playing the run tough. Sharpton playing like a mad man today.
Derek Newton moving Braman to the sideline. Newton giving him the business.
Brice McCain with great coverage to get over the top of Martin. Intercepts the pass from Yates.
Antonio Smith would have had the sack on that play on Schaub.
Graham with a great diving catch from Schaub. Good coverage from Cushing better places ball.
Martin with a great catch against Keo. Tight ropes the sideline and gets upfield in a hurry.
Garrett Graham once again a hands catch on a high pass
Tim Jamison getting back into pass rushing shape. Great swim move to get to the QB
Hopkins is having a great day. He is catching everything and JJo/Kareem have been all over him.
Keo great blitz would have been a sack on Schaub.
Lemon with an outstanding catch but out of bounds. Bouye with the coverage to ride him out of bounds.
Arian Foster still isn't back at practice. He's still working on the side
Team portion starts off with a leaping catch from Andre Johnson
Dennis Johnson is getting a ton of meaningful reps with Foster and Tate out.
Brice McCain just made a heckuva play. Used his speed to track down that overthrow from Yates for an INT.
Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins in back to back drills. (Video) http://instagram.com/p/cl7TsbEMET/
W Johnathan Joseph on him in tight coverage, @Nukdabomb pulls in 25 yarder up right sideline.

Brice McCain had his best day of camp today. Slowly returning to his 2011 form. #Texans
#Texans players realize that Cushing is important to this team. They do a good job of protecting him and making sure he stays off the ground
Herring also talked highly about Justin Tuggle and Willie Jefferson, has liked what they have brought early in camp. #Texans

Dangit Kareem, this is pass interference. Stop it.
Oh my.... still caught it??
Spoke with Antonio Smith, Reggie Herring, Sam Montgomery, Danieal Manning, and Case Keenum today. Some quick notes. Audio on SportsTalk 790
Antonio on Swearinger: "He's not going to be a stealth ninja. Everything about him is all up in your face."
Danieal Manning on Swearinger: "His leadership ability, play making ability is tremendous." Vets talking about Swearinger's leadership.
Sounds like we'll get a good chance to see him in the 4th preseason game if he has no setbacks..Montgomery on Injury: I speculate I'll be back in a week, week & a half."
Sam Montgomery on preparing while injured: "I'm out here everyday w/ my notebook, pen & paper & I just come in being a student of the game."
Sam cont'd: "Really learning concepts & details & stunts." "Getting the play call from coach, getting the signals from Wade."
Montgomery on learning the playbook: "I keep running it thru my head & doing mental rep, mental rep, mental rep."
Sam on 34 OLB run D & pass rush: "The easiest thing coming to me now is the run, cause it's just an aggressive get off."
Sam Montgomery cont'd: "Pass rush is something I've got to work on a little bit. Getting thru that stiff arm."
Reggie Herring on Willie Jefferson: "He has natural instincts in pass rush skills."
Herring on Jefferson: "He's athletic, long. He actually fits the prototype for an outside backer to us."
RH on Willie: "He's very raw right now, undeveloped, but he's shown enough natural instinctive pass rush skills that he gets your attention"
Herring on Willie: "If he does play for us his length will help out on the edge. Yes, his hands up length would be a factor."
Herring on rookie OLBers: "The rookies for the most part have been inconsistent."
Herring on Willie's run D: "He lacks play strength, he's got to use his leverage & length w/ his arms to get off blocks."
Herring on Joe Mays switch from 43 to 34: "That's what Joe's trying to do right now. He's learning the language & the system."
RH on Mays: "He knows how to play the game, he's fast twitch, instinctive LBer." "He aren't to have it (scheme switch) down by the 1st game"
Yeah...I want to tone down my excitement for Hopkins. Through the entire draft process I wanted him to be a Texan but anytime we draft a player in the 1st round it's never the player I want. (I wanted Kyle Wilson over Kareem and it looks like I was wrong)
I cannot wait to see him on the field because by what i've read, everything we hear is LEGIT. He's going out and owning our 1st team CB's. They blanket him and he's still making the catch. I can't wait till Friday.
Sounds like Braman is having a pretty rough camp. Still seen as the answer to the LB issues? Don't think so. Hell of a special teams guy though.
Crick was such a stud at Nebraska, he's finally coming around after some injuries and I think he can really break out this year. Expecting big things from him.
"Finally"? That's kinda harsh, isn't it?
He was a rookie last year, coming off of injury. He played in the rotation and he did... OK. Nothing great but that wasn't unexpected. He should be better this year and hopefully, MUCH better.
"Finally" makes it sound like he's in his 3rd or 4th year and hasn't done anything.

Finally is what it is. As in not injured anymore. wasn't he hurt as a senior in college?

Has anyone seen Schaub doing agility drills?
I'm sure he does the standard footwork drills with all the rest of the qb's.
I seriously doubt Schaub is out there doing the latter or stepping through tires/ropes. There's better things he can do with his time.
But I could be wrong. Maybe he is doing those drills with the rb's or wr's for some reason.

I hope he's not .... afraid he'll trip over his shoelaces and fall on that shoulder ....
Dr. Harvey Mandrake: "Cherubini! What did he fall off the bench?"
He's clumsy as heck.
Normally I wouldn't want to see a QB doing such drills, but that's Schaub's biggest weakness, imo. Hell, I'd love to hear he joined a dodge ball league in the offseason.
The image of Schaub scrambling against NE in the playoffs and throwing the ball away with no on around him still gets my blood boiling.
