I agree, but if I’m Caserio I’m telling Green Bay, hey, how much do you want to keep Mr. Rodgers happy? If you really, REALLY want Cobb, here’s where it starts.
You'd be overplaying your hand.

The "return" which should have our attention is just getting out from under his contract. But I agree about the 5th.I am expecting to be disappointed in the return... anything more than the 5th round that was just traded would please me

So how is the Miller trade looking now? Not saying you but it’s been ridiculed here until of course the unknown reality got in the way. That said if NC gets a first or second that is lights out but I don’t think GB would agree to that?Caserio was just in front of a bunch of reporters, he said he wasn’t going to talk about it as it’s still fluid.
Sounds like it was a done deal, pending Rodgers contract. I heard Rodgers wants $90M guaranteed over the next two years
I didn’t ridicule it. I said it was stupid & unnecessary. I didn’t hate it though until we found out it was our 5th for their 7th.So how is the Miller trade looking now? Not saying you but it’s been ridiculed here until of course the unknown reality got in the way.
Florio is rumoring that the hold up is guaranteed money and the trade will include the now too familiar swap of late round picksI am expecting to be disappointed in the return... anything more than the 5th round that was just traded would please me
You've got to be f'n kidding me. That's like 5 slots or less than 5 points on the trade value chart.Pack get Cobb and the Texans 7th, Texans get the Packs 6th?? Something like that?

Think austin was speculating on the terms...not seen anything but the swap of late picks personallyYou've got to be f'n kidding me. That's like 5 slots or less than 5 points on the trade value chart.
This is not difficult. Texans trading Cobb will have $4MM in dead money. Caserio will push $2MM to 2022 instead of taking all of the trash ($4MM) in 2021. Green Bay will pay Cobb's full 2021 salary. Nothing like the Osweiller deal. Not sure if the value chart accounts for cap hit, how much GB will be taking of Cobb’s, etc. Like Osweiller trade getting out from a bad contract. Except in this case team gets a pick in return.

That's his 2021 full salary and Roster Bonus that Green Bay will now pay. There was also $4MM in a signing bonuses that comes forward as Dead Money because Cobb was traded. $2MM in dead money in 2021 and $2MM in dead money in 2022. Signing Bonus and Restructured Bonus are money that is paid to the player in advance and is spread over the remaining years in the contract. This done to mainly reduce the salary cap. That's why when a player is cut or traded all signing and restructure bonuses immediately become due. If the player is traded after June 1st signing and restructure bones can be spread over 2 years. In Cobb's case his $4MM in signing bonuses that came due as dead money when he was traded. Take a look at Texans dead money in 2021 and 2022. Cobb is listed as $2MM in each. Hope this helps.Maybe its not that difficult for most… but Spotrac has an 8,470,588 2021 cap hit for Cobb. Please educate us why they are wrong.

Net $6MM in 2021, negative $2MM in 2022.Looking at OTC, looks like the Texans free $8M, with $2M dead money
Would it surprise you if this is what it turns out to be? I’m not worried about cap hit, etc., because I don’t understand it. Just saying, it wouldn’t surprise me if this is similar to what the Texans get. You've got to be f'n kidding me. That's like 5 slots or less than 5 points on the trade value chart.
He had a $10M cap number for 2021. $8M is salary. With the trade his cap number is now $2M (dead money).Net $6MM in 2021, negative $2MM in 2022.
I see what you’re saying now. Yes, this is correctThis is not difficult. Texans trading Cobb will have $4MM in dead money. Caserio will push $2MM to 2022 instead of taking all of the trash ($4MM) in 2021. Green Bay will pay Cobb's full 2021 salary. Nothing like the Osweiller deal.
Buying draft capital rather cheaply but I doubt Caserio would see it that way.Texans, Packers still haggling over who pays how much of Cobb's contract.
Seems like the Texans should have some leverage here. Both sides want the deal done, but there should be no rush on the Texans part. On the Packers side, Rodgers could become impatient. And no one in Green Bay wants Rodgers to get upset. Again.
I'd make the Texans part tied to the draft pick. For every $2 million ponied up, bump the pick up a round.
5th round - $2 million
4th round - $4 million
3rd round - $6 million
2nd round - Texans pickup the entire salary.
Seems fair.
Pack get Cobb and the Texans 7th, Texans get the Packs 6th?? Something like that?
Hmmm??

Clearly Caserio didn't see it that way.Buying draft capital rather cheaply but I doubt Caserio would see it that way.
Yeah, but the Texans get to keep that very important 7th round pick and all it cost them was $3 million. I know that's skewing things a bit because there was no way the Texans would be able to move Cobb w/o absorbing some of his guaranteed $$$Hmmm??
Revised: Since Texans are now paying $3MM of Cobb's 2021 Green Bay salary, That is a Net cap savings of $3MM in 2021 and negative $2MM in 2022. Texans did get a 6th RD pick that Caserio can throw away since he sees 6th RD picks as UDFA and has no real use for them.He had a $10M cap number for 2021. $8M is salary. With the trade his cap number is now $2M (dead money).
Yes, $2M dead money in 2022 & another $8M savings on his $10M cap number.

How y'all liking Nick Caserio now?

I come up with a net of $5M.

Cobb had a $10.48 million cap number for 2021. Green Bay is paying $5.25 million salary and up to $375,000 in game bonus. The Texans pay $3 million salary and have the $2 million in signing bonus allocation. The Texans will have another $2 million of dead money in 2022.
Still, a good deal for the Texans, just getting this ridiculous contract off the books. Would have liked to seen Caserio negotiate a better draft pick. But, draft picks aren't really his thing. Probably will trade this 6th for a backup blocking TE next year, anyway.
And aging running backs. We have moved from acquiring numerous Tight Ends to acquiring numerous Wide Receivers.

So far Caserio has reduced the amount of the available Texans 2022 salary cap by $15MM by creating deficits with restructuring bonuses and dead money.Cobb had a $10.48 million cap number for 2021. Personally I'm already liking him far, far, far better than all-world and all time dumb-azz GM Bill O'Brien. How y'all liking Nick Caserio now?
Personally I'm already liking him far, far, far better than all-world and all time dumb-azz GM Bill O'Brien.
A complete and fair analysis of his performance as a GM will have to wait until he's had the opportunity to conduct and manage a Draft with all picks intact.

Seriously, what was O'Brien, Easterby and Kyle thinking when they gave this guy 18 guaranteed over 3 years and a $6 million signing bonus?
Agree, with this caveat - Caserio appears to be his own man. If the owner and his buddy try to exert dominance over Caserio, I think he'll resign. I don't know if Caserio will be a good, bad, or middle of the road GM. I do feel if he leaves, though, and everything else at the top stays the same, we may never see an end to the sub-par on-the-field product.Unfortunately, two of those three stooges are still in the Texans front office wielding considerable power with the fledgling GM. And he owes them both for his job, so don't expect much independence from their inherent incompetence.

Unfortunately Easterby convinced Cal to fire Gaine and Olson. Disastrous trades would've never happened under Gaine and disastrous contracts would've never happened under Olson. Caserio came highly recommended by O'Brien and O'Brien hired Easterby who also highly recommended Caserio. So what could possibly go wrong with the new GM, Nick Caserio who comes with the Jack Easterby and Bill O'Brien stamp of approval? Wrong from the beginning. Gaine got himself fired. There was no convincing. Been said many a times.
I don’t know people feel the need to spin stories other than to promote their own agenda. Be honest.
