Yep having 2nd string edges like Barnett and Taylor bode well for a rested pass rushing group later in games so the sack numbers should go up.

The int rate definitely shouldn't go down because adding CGJ who's a playmaker should only make the defense better IMHO.
 
It feels like they consider 2024 a fluke year. those projections would represent a return to the mean.

I don’t think 2024 was some kind of fluke. While those projections aren’t outlandish, id say they are on the lower end of reasonable.

The defensive numbers are down across the league in this projection. The most projected INTs were 14.2 by the Lions. The most sacks projected was 43.5 by the Vikings. Everything was squeezed towards the middle in these projections. I would not put a lot of faith in these numbers.

Of course injuries will play a big part on who's on the field. Let's look at the players most likely to make the roster on the O-line.

Trent Brown - Missed 39 games over past 5 seasons
Tytus Howard - Missed 23 games over 6 year career
Juice Scruggs - Missed 14 games over his 2 seasons
Jarrett Patterson - Missed 12 games over his 2 seasons
Jake Andrews - Missed entire 2024 season
Cam Robinson - Missed 7 games in 2023
Blake Fisher - Missed 2 games in rookie season
Laken Tomlinson - Missed 1 game over his 10 year career
Ed Ingram - Missed 3 games over 3 year career
Aireontae Ersery - Injured in final college game

I'm not predicting injuries. I'm just saying there will be injuries. The good news is that there should be enough depth to keep a reliable group on the field.

My concern is related to Andrews. Last TC with the Pats, he tore his knee meniscus.. But it was not the typical type of meniscus tear...................it was multiple tears of his meniscus (classified as a complex tear). Part of the tear was in the "white zone," a area of the meniscus that has essentially no potential for healing, with or without repair.

I knew the OL has had injury issues, I didn't realize they were as bad as your post looks like.

I'm an ol river rat ( swimming tuber kayak etc) from the 70s onward spent many times on the Guadalupe and state park, Kerrville folk festivals twice. camping fishing friendly small towns beautiful country awesome Texas infused music and food and etc. we talkin Texas Hill Country.
In other words Deep In The Heart Of Texas.

I just bought this James Avery Jewelry who is established out of Kerrville a charm with all proceeds going to the recovery and relief efforts. Since the 80s I have bought mucho jewelry not for me except for my two marriage rings were bought there.

The charm with engraving if desired $80 . I'm giving this charm to someone that I knew and wears that jewelry that lives in that area and drives I10 to here and back for work. Barrista trailer up the street. She also house sits children for several Hill Country folks there.

She was emotional and speechless finding out it's named Deep In The Heart Of Texas. I engraved the date and also told her that James Avery have sold more than 30,000 of them. That ends Aug 4th.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl in February, but he was traded to the Texans in March. And Gardner-Johnson thinks the Eagles got rid of him because they don’t like his competitive approach.

Gardner Johnson was asked on The Pivot podcast why he thinks he’s not an Eagle anymore.

“Scared of a competitor,” Gardner-Johnson answered. “Simple as that.”

Gardner-Johnson felt that he wasn’t supported by his coaches when he was ejected from a late-season game against the Commanders, and that he was blamed for a postseason practice scrum. In both cases, Gardner-Johnson said he was just letting the competitive juices flow.

“We had a little scrum at practice,” Gardner-Johnson said. “Nothing, just offense vs. defense, but who’s the culprit of it? Me, I guess, because we’re competing. Well, you tell me the period is live. You’re telling us not to compete during a live period, but it’s a live period and we’re getting ready for a playoff game?”

Gardner-Johnson indicated that teammates have never has a problem with his competitive approach, but coaches and front office executives have.

“You want me to be a leader and outspoken but then you want me to sit back,” Gardner-Johnson said. “There’s nowhere been a locker room where I had a single issue with a teammate.”

Now Gardner-Johnson will bring his competitiveness to Houston.

How bad can Gardner-Johnson be for the Texans? He hasn't kept the Eagles from getting to the Super Bowl 2 of the past 3 seasons. Yes, he's the kind of guy that likes to hear himself talk. He's chippy. But he also produces. 15 INTs in his past 35 games. That's not bad. It's actually good.

2. Derek Stingley Jr., Houston Texans

Stingley and Jets corner Sauce Gardner went back-to-back early in the first round of the 2022 draft. While Gardner had the edge through the first two years, Stingley is winning the head-to-head battle after a banner third season.

Now one of the NFL's highest-paid cornerback at $30 million per year, Stingley allowed 4.9 yards per target last season, the fewest among outside cornerbacks with a minimum of 30 targets. He allowed 42 completions on 90 targets, including 18 passes defended. Opposing quarterbacks produced a 56.9 passer rating against him, which topped the league among corners with at least 50 targets defended.

The ball production -- 10 interceptions and 31 passes defended since 2023 -- has elevated him to elite status on his way to first-team All-Pro.

"Best ball skills in the league, in my opinion," an NFC personnel evaluator said. "Some of the INTs and tracking the ball in the air, it's rare. That pick against Tyreek [Hill], 99% of DBs in league aren't making that play."

The interception that evaluator referenced happened in Week 15, when Stingley ran stride for stride with Hill on a go ball and contorted his body to make the diving pick. It sealed a 20-12 win for the Texans.

"He's physical, a lot thicker than he looks, movement skills explosive," an NFC assistant coach said. "He has always had this in his game, he just had a slow start to his career due to injury."

I think it’s a lot more to do with how heavy the Baltimore offense plays along with a running QB - ie big TEs, big fullback and a beefy o-line. They’re a league leader in heavy personnel.

They had no problem containing Josh Allen and the Bills’ running qb game.

The problem seems to me that they aren’t good against big powerful teams. I wish we played the Rams later as a proper test because they play a lot of power as well (even though not with the same qb run game).
