Texans random thought of the day

The Houston Texans reportedly are looking to bolster their running back room this offseason.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on SportsCenter Sunday that the team is eyeing free-agent running back Nick Chubb to join the backfield alongside Joe Mixon.
"I was told that he's hoping to sign here soon, and maybe he gets something done before a minicamp gets into a team. Four-time Pro Bowler," Fowler said. "The return to Cleveland's not totally off the table, from what I'm told, but probably unlikely because of their draft plans, they drafted multiple running backs. I'm told Houston could be one to watch here. They've been looking at that running back market, maybe adding somebody with Joe Mixon."
I believe the interest in Chubb has been mentioned before.

what injury has CJGJ had that would hamper his play?? Did I miss something with him??
does the interest in Chubb reveal more than anticipated with regards to the Mixon injury and the fact that he's in a boot still??? Pierce is nice, interested to see how Marks does...a lot will depend on our Oline and its issues and who gets placed at what position...but Chubb coming off injury has me suspicious of Mixons health.

Chubbs is unlikely to revive his career anywhere.

In his 2023 knee injury, Chubb dislocated his left knee and suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial capsule, meniscus, medial collateral ligament (MCL), and significant articular joint cartilage damage.

What most fans are not aware of, at Georgia in his sophomore year in 2015, he dislocated that same left knee and suffered suffered a torn MCL, PCL, LCL and articular joint cartilage damage in addition to a hamstring tear. He was beyond fortunate to have returned from that injury the way he did.

Last year after the most recent return from his last knee surgeries, he suffered a noncontact, non Jones metatarsal fracture of his left foot to end his season..........no doubt secondary to compensation for knee dysfunction which was clearly evident by his questionable return performance.

With the type of trauma his knee has sustained, his gait has been altered by many potential factors..........pain, instability and/or limited range of motion..........all of which are negatively affected to some degree following his knee history. These alterations have the knee compensate by shifting weight or pressure unevenly, placing more stress on the foot. This increased stress plays particularly on the metatarsals.

Having suffered such extensive damage to his left knee within the last 10 years, he will not be so fortunate in an effective comeback.

So again, what does this say about Mixon's health? With Chubb and his injury history...its hard to foresee a season where he runs well, breaks tackles or ankles and gains a lot of yards....now Im worried about Mixons return and his timeline...

And guess whose agency represents Chubb……

I'm going to need you to tell Caserio to let you perform the physical on Chubb 👨‍⚕️

Looks like Chubb to Houston will happen if he passes his physical tomorrow:

I have to remind people that when a player is cleared to play from injury does not have anything to do with predicting performance when he returns.

I've posted previously that Mixon's main lingering problem is not so much a foot problem, but a chronic recurring high ankle issue. This is the type of injury that can be carried for an indefinite period of time. As I posted previously, this does not bode well for consistent on-field presence.

If Chubb isn't to expensive and he can play some, and is even half as good as he was, it'll be worth it for this season only. Chubb is way past his prime and heading into retirement soon.

He's obviously not a three down back and I don't think that was the idea in bringing him in here.
Mixon is the #1 back but Chubb and co will offer some breathing space for him.

An issue that probably wouldn't be an issue if players would stop drop tackling Mixon.

What does that have to do with anything. The agency supposed to stop representing their clients?
Getting in bed with the devil, but OK.

Kinda like Boras in MLB. Unfortunately it's a necessary evil.

But give me as few of David from the ----- clients as possible, same with Boras.

Quite unimpressive thus far in his career. In addition to being too cocky, he has has run ins with the law already on 3 occasions.............leaving the scene of an accident............and multiple gun charges................and assault charges incident.

**

lots of details on this spit

This iisn't Bob/Janice McNir's Texans anymore, thank God.

If dude can play at a high level then sign me up. No big deall about the gun charges, dont know the details on the assault charges and are we going to run the org like the champions the Chiefs are or are we going back to the Bob/Janice school of Sunday School class methods of running the franchise? Bottom line is can the guy play? If so then sign him up, he was unimpressive with the Raiders although he's got talent. How's he looked with the Roughriders?

Obviously not.

How is he the devil, please explain because all agents/agencies looks after their clients and their best interest:

Or are we being you know what again?

Some agents get their clients paid but work within theconfines of the cap that allow teams to add proven talent to their rosters. See: Mahomes deal. Others just get their players paid the most. Also after DM/Avery/Publist (I cant remember his name) and their role in the Derrick fiasco why would anybody want to do business with these POS's unless absolutely necessary?

Isn’t that not their job?

Pat’s agent did one helluva job getting this man paid like this.

Patrick Mahomes' contract with the Kansas City Chiefs is a 10-year, $450 million extension, which was initially signed in 2020 and extended later. The deal includes $141.5 million guaranteed, and while he's now the highest-paid player in the NFL by total value, other quarterbacks have surpassed him in average annual salary.

And the all mighty God can you please get past the Watson drama. The Texans surely has so why can’t you. As you can see they will always deal with your most hated agent.

Who are the criminals on what is to be the projected final 53 for the Houston Texans?

That has nothing to do with the agents. It's the player decision whether to sign a "team friendly" deal or not. The agent's ONLY responsibility and duty is to the player he represents. It would be malpractice if he felt or acted otherwise. Also, it's not like the team has no representative in negotiations... This hate for Mulugeta is ridiculous.

No!

Meh, each game is different - each team is different. For example, some teams may be weaker against the pass so that's where you focus most of your attack. And of course the opposite is true - if you can pound them with your run game, that's where you focus the bulk of your attack.
The Shanahan offense has definitely become too commonplace and predictable. It is stale and has lacked creativity compared to other evolving offenses........especially when a team falls behind.

He's certainly not modest.......I'm not sure he has much insight into self.

Report: C.J. Gardner-Johnson will participate in Texans’ mandatory minicamp
By Charean Williams
Published June 9, 2025 04:59 PM

Texans defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson reported to the team facility Monday ahead of Tuesday’s start of a two-day mandatory minicamp, Aaron Wilson of KPRC reports.

Gardner-Johnson, who the Eagles traded to the Texans this offseason, skipped the team’s voluntary offseason workouts to train on his own with his personal trainer.

I’ve really been like to myself,” Gardner-Johnson told Wilson. “The week I was there, it was very, very closer than places I’ve been before. Because this is a brand-new organization, trying to be the first team to put a bull on the ring. I had to step back.

I’m too much sometimes. I think coming off a Super Bowl, it’s a little too much for guys who feel like they’re at the top of their profession right now because of who they are. That’s respectable. So, we had to step back and then start to humble up, because now I’m at the bottom of the mountain with a team that’s never been to the top. So, I can’t bring the top of the mountain to the bottom of the mountain. I can’t do that. It’s like an avalanche. I don’t want to cause a cluster---.”
Gardner-Johnson, 27, led the league in interceptions in 2022 with six and has 18 in his six-year career. He spent three seasons in New Orleans and was with the Eagles in 2022 and 2024 after a one-year stint in Detroit in 2023 that didn’t go well.
The trade from the Eagles took him by surprise.

“I feel highly disrespected, but it’s a business,” Gardner-Johnson said. “‘Never was an All-Pro or Pro Bowl! Never!’ led the league in interceptions. What more do you want?

“People say, ‘He’s a hazard. He’s this. He’s that.’ I never been no hazard, bro. They got no real issues on me. That black ball ain’t going to work on me, because I got me a ring. I got me one. I got three more championships in me. I’m probably going to win the next three. I’m going to get me another Super Bowl this year. Just watch.”

The Texans have never made the AFC Championship Game, but they won the AFC South and a playoff game each of the past two seasons.

The last paragraph, the answer is I dont like to deal with POS like DM and those of his minions. No I dont believe in sweeping the people that helped Derrick sexually assault women under the rug. But hey maybe that's just me and you dont have a problem with these kinds of people. So I guess we're just different kinds of people and we'll have to agree to disagree on this.
